Default insomnia   #1
we've all had it at some point a few of us have had a couple days most of us have it a couple times a month, but what about the select few who suffer from it nightly, those of whom cound the clock back over and over to assure themselves that 'six hours is practically a record' or 'three is normal, three is better than two' or even 'well i can go a day without'. what do you say to the person who's unaffected by diet stress exercise and hypnotism? to the person for whom sleep is allusive even when they have time to spare for it?

my body shuts down more and more these days even though sleep remains elusive, my doctors have me on a bevy of pills to keep me healthy and kill the continuous line of bacterial intruders i court on a regular basis when most of it could be avoided by getting those extra 2-7 hours of sleep at night recommended by health professionals and moms.

this thread is not about asking people their tips on sleeping, teas and pills and night-blinders have been tried. some days the insomnia is useful, there are too few hours in some days for sleep. i just feel like sharing this, not just so the few people for whom this information is relevant to can know but also to put in perspective an issue that has plagued me since all of those years ago when i finally stopped wetting the bed because i stopped sleeping long enough to have nightmares

oh, and this is an opener to share your insomnia issues too even if you've only ever had it every second blue-moon or consider 12 too few for any reasonable person<3

Person, what Person?
I've had an insomnia issue since I was a baby, never could sleep even when I was exhausted I would clapse in bed and stare at the ceiling sleep eluding me. I can't offer any help as I could never find anything to help my insomnia exeption, on occasion, working myself to the bone. My body has adjusted to lack of any real sleep and copious amounts of coffee and cafinated tea. Doctors say it was cause I didn't get enough calcum in my body for the first couple of years, being alergic to any type of milk including my mothers.
Sleep aids don't seem to help either so I just try work myself to fall into an exausted almost sleep that works enough to keep myself alive.

I have more then just insomnia to blame for my insanity. I also have something called middle child syndrome to blame and several minor health problems like exercise induced asthma and migrane attacks.

I can't honestly say I had a sucky childhood just several problems, physical and mental. My parents took me in to get checked out in the head and all they could tell me is that I cna't be legally declared sane or insane but I'll likely walk the line for the rest of my life. My parents loved me but I made it hard to love reacting voilently to the slightest hint of affection or care. A doctor later told my parents I only did this because I wanted attention because I felt neglected being middle child. So it ws kind of my fault I have a few of my problems.

Well 5 hours has been my norm for a while... I'm working on pushing it to the lovable 8 that my parents want me to sleep.

I don't think I really have insomnia - because I can sleep the whole day away. But I go through phases in which I'll be up for 24-36 hours and then only catch a nap and stay up another 18 hours. Eventually I crash out. I tend to sleep 3/4 he way through my days off if I don't watch out!

The longest I've ever slept was 26 hours. I wasn't sick or anything.
I wonder if there's any downsides to getting too much sleep? oO

Indeed, birdy. How long have you been up now? It's been twelve hours since I last posted, and you're still on. X_X

Eugh, that's not fun. I've had problems sleeping but never to the point that I consider six hours good.

One thing I used to have problems with was not drinking before going to bed. I don't mean alcohol, but any drink - tea, soda, milk, blar di blargh. I talked to a doctor and they told me that for some people, the caffeine/lactose/sugar in your tea/milk/soda can do funny things to the body and keep them up at night or wake them up. Just check into what you're eating or drinking before going to bed.

Another thing that helped me was making sure it was completely dark and very warm in my room - the situation that makes you sleepy may be different for you personally.

If it persists, you may want to talk to a specialist about it. Sleep deprivation can not only be detrimental to work/school, it can affect your health and mood. :o
bitches please
