Alright so clearly the title says it all but let me just...clarify a little.

I am currently at work. We are so busy I just got a break from 9 hours when I ha e an hour and a half left of work. One of our newest employees just called in "sick" saying that he was not coming in this afternoon. Okay fine...why though you may ask...because he wanted to go get his hair cut and wanted to go shopping. This is exactly point blank what was said from him to be the reason. So relaying the message to my manager she lost it and ended up firing him. He got this job two weeks ago...


If you ask me that was the stupidest thing I have heard in a long ass time.

So what I want to know from you is what kind of stupid people do you know or have witnessed?

Dude deserves to be fired. That's sick leave abuse, plain and simple. There's a reason vacation time is accrued separately. :/

I could rant about how stupid Los Angeles drivers are, but that's a thread in its own right and I'm not currently angry enough to want to get into it. XD

Stupidest thing I have heard in the past month : My Boss after asking me to pick up extra shifts all week since 1 person is in the hospital and another isn't able to do any heavy lifting. The next days she called saying 'that I just wasn't working out'

Found out that the person I replaced wanted to come back because she didn't like her new job.

i was fired once because the new manager didn't trust me.

i asked how could that possibly be when i work directly under a camera and never had any history of doing anything bad.

so then she looks me right in the eyes and says "ok he jsut doesn't like you."

and when i came to get my final check i saw him up front and when i walked in the door he was nowhere to be found

I was fired recently for speaking my mind.

I'm perhaps more than a little abrasive at times, but it's not as if I was just complaining about things and not offering alternatives (I was).

That's life for ya, I guess. :)

I'm not going to go into the story about me getting fired. It's a very long story. But after I was fired, the CEO asserted that because I owed him money (dubiously but possibly true, depending on the legalities of things) he was going to withhold my final paycheck.

I QUOTED THE LAW at him, including the section number and penalties. I told him I had already filed a complaint with the state labor board.

He didn't budge, said he'd see me in court.

A few days later I get an e-mail telling me to come get my check and that he'd drop his claims to the money I supposedly owed him if I'd drop the case against him.

I get to deal with someone on FR that when you explain to them something, 5 minutes later they're asking for the same explination you just recited 5 minutes before.

Like, Day 1, I explained that Berserk Stones are for Physical fighting dragons where scholar is for Mage dragons. it basically does the same thing except the stats are different builds

Day 2 she gets berserk stones and scholar stones and asks what they're for.. I explain to her again.

Day 3 she whines about something being to hard and starts a newbie rage quitting rant

Day 4, she's asking about berserk stones and scholar stones again >w>,

half the time i think she's ignoring what we tell her, the other half I think she's like my mom and is super forgetful.

Her whining though can get annoying.. she plays PAD as well.. and if the monster isn't cute, she sells it or feeds it to someone >->, like.. she claims to have had Orochi and Muse.. she sold them for being ugly then cries about having crappy teams -head desk- I giggled over the skype chat this morning with Illu face slapping himself over her not liking 'ugly' mons..

we had to BEG her not to sell susano the other day @-@

Like.. don't sell the good monsters and then cry about not being able to beat this dungeon or that dungeon because of shitty teams. D:< Your fault!

I love her though ._. she's adorable at times

i had a manager who's son was a dangerous psychotic and it was messing up her ability to work well and she was abusive, as such she had a hard time keeping people, i am a wimp and take abuse(or took it anyway easily so i got hired same-day after the manager called me to come apply. i was abused verbally and harassed verbally(being called worthless and slow and useless and a waste) while i worked their and i was told that i was not supposed to talk to customers or smile at them and was told i was not to take sick days if humanly possible and i was given way more hours than i said i could work. now, i am a sickly person and this wreaked havoc on my immune system and i got sick, like really sick. i called in to say i was sick and this manager repeatedly called me a liar and said i was trying to skip out of work and that i was faking it so, so sick i could barely walk i get on the bus(i could not drive ill) and go there where she took a single look at me, says i look like i am on drugs and fires me on the spot for being a 'druggie' when i say i am sick she threatens to call the cops on me and, in this state of shock and horror of losing a job while being massively under the weather i begin to cry and go outside to wait for the bus(it is freezing temp btw, there is frost on the ground and it is a windy store) i am followed outside shortly after and told if i keep loitering i would have the cops called on me then for harassing customers(of which there were none)


now, if you think that was messed up it is topped off with my getting hold of human resources later to file a complaint and see what can be done legally only to have several people move me around and tell me there is no human resources and one guy to outright laugh at me(turns out they have the worst service in the country for employees) so a lot of stupid piled onto a lot more stupid

@Coda: If its a part-time gig you don't get vacation hours. Worse case scenario you get a boss that doesn't like you, and you live in a work for hire state? You are so gone the moment they get a chance. Though most of my pass bosses wait until they file enough paper work to make it look like legit justified that you were fired. So being one minute late counts as a write up, enough write ups and you are gone.

@Pink: Lmao, how old was he? I am so curious because I think employee wise the worse person I have had to deal with was my coworker who was too lazy to straighten isles, or the ones that get so pissed off they commit felonies. For example we have had two people (2 different sets of people) steal merchandise from where I work. One just out right walked out the door with 2000 dollars worth of stuff. The other they tried to be more discrete, so they did it in return cards which could only be used in the store. I think my favorite are the managers they are in their own league of stupid.

But I ask his age because it depends on who I am dealing with. In retail a vast majority of stupid things happen from older teens that don't really have a work ethic yet. Where I am now, a vast majority of things happened because the customer base, well, many of them may not be mentally alright so I can not judge them as harshly.

Imagine if rather than fired, your manager did nothing. Then, gave them a raise around Christmas.

That's how my father has been managing things for a decade. The company now owes him over 200,000 dollars due to him keeping employees while refusing to pay himself. Add that he has my mother involved as free labor on taxes and financial work...and until recently had kept the person hired to do that (who was very mentally unstable and cited multiple times as a reason good employees left, because she made the office "like high school cliches") on out of fear she'd take him to court due to her disability.
Add a host of other things.

I think at some point "idiot" becomes "insane"

That's not WHOLLY unreasonable. That's actually one of the jobs where you can reasonably pull it off, especially if you're the type that's sitting around waiting on customers.

... I take it back, so I think my job has reached a new level of stupid that I can not comprehend at all. We have a manager that is repeatedly late, and by late I mean at 3 am when we are supposed to be unloading freight, she shows up sometimes 30-45 to an hour late because of various excuses, her most common one was over sleeping. Some mornings she would not show up at all causing another manager to have to show up on their day off. No call no show later find out shes just asleep.

In the mean time my coworker was promised a position , but was later told by the district manager that they were trying to do away with this full time position. But they can hire two people to make up for it.

Apparently this same manager was late once again for an hour to the point where the corporate office called to asked why two other stores where behind on their delivery. You would think she would be fired? No, instead she gets to keep her 15 dollar an hour pay, and gets a down grade to the position that was promised to another coworker that shouldn't exist. All she has to do is run register ( A McDonald's worker's dream I might add) but even now she is complaining about that and having to be trained on register when its the easiest job in the store.

I would also like to add this same manager has already planned to leave the job in a month.
