Ree woke to the others neck in his face once more. He slipped from underneath the other. His bag lay on the side of the bed. He was already to escape. Ree snuck around the house quietly trying to gather more of what he thought they would need for the journey. When he returned he shook Kais until he blinked angrily at him. “Wake up or we will never leave.” He pulled the young noble out of bed, helping him to get dressed through the grumbles. They left while the sun was still waking from his own bed.

the day was beautiful and warm and filled with foreign ships. he could not help but smile as he searched for something suited to their needs

He curled his body around the others leg, tucking his knees into the other thigh. “Watching, Ben and watching the Lady Roux has made me wary of Nobles. You are not like them Kais. You have not tricked me, you have not feed me medicine to sedate me. You have made me a better person by teaching me to read and giving a vagabond a chance... “ A heat rose from his face with his next words. “You... had wine with me....Kais.” He said softly “Will you kiss me?”

he wanted to argue and say he did attempt it, he did cheat the boy and twice ree had suffered because of him but the request was too much and feeling his own face heat up from the lightly begging tone he could not help but reach down and take those lips for his own

Ree happily took his kiss but did not demand any more then what he asked for. Instead he smoothed his thumb across Kais's face. When his moment of study was over he took another kiss, devouring the taste of the prince.

he could tell by now ree wanted more, even if the kiss was not pleading his habit would have given him away and so was confused when the other did not reattach a third time. he licked his lips. "why did you stop?" "i thought of retiring as a thief." he was lost momentarily until he realized what ree was trying not to 'steal'. he smiled. "didn't you say yourself it is not stealing if it is given? you are not stealing kisses from me when i ave offered them freely"

Ree continued to say nothing. While the words were many that he wanted to hear, some where he thought the royal would not remember them. It would only take another moment for him to forget himself and his place before the ugly side of Kais returned. His place was lower then before. He shoved the rest of his breakfast at the hungry dragon and looked at Kais watching her. He reached over and took the noble by his chin forcing him to meet his gaze. “Is that what you want Kais? If it is only going to be this way as long as you are not angry, I would rather situate myself as your whore and property and be done with it. I do not wish to have my feelings ripped from my soul again under the assumption that I am something else. Tell me what I am to you so that I may act accordingly.”

feeling fingers on his face he clamped his mouth shut as ree spoke the most painfully sensible question ever to come from his lips. scrambling for an answer nothing came o him that he could be assured would not one day prove to be a lie under the right conditions leaving silence to drag on between them until ree made an offended face and let him go, it freed his tongue and reaching out he grabbed the other by the sleeve, "i can't say it won't happen ree but i can promise that i will try and if i hurt you that i will stop should you tell me....i... i think i feel for you stronger than i have for anything else in my life. i don't want a whore, i don't want property... i want ree"

He made the mistake of glancing into Kais eyes. All of his strength instantly seem to fall at the thought of making the young noble cry. His fingers reached up and smoothed themselves over the one that captured his sleeve. He leaned forward and graced he side of Kais face with a small kiss. “Kais, I can take your punches, and anger. My body is strong enough to take that, so long as you do not slice off my manhood. I will be your Ree, are you my Kais?”

Genuine surprise caught Rees face and it stunned him into silence. He pulled Kais into a kiss. He was still very unsure of himself but as long as he was Kais's life did not matter. He pulled back and his face lax into a grin. “Should I call the servant for more breakfast?”

"with the door as open as it is i am sure someone has already heard us and is bringing me food now." ignoring the pain that had gotten worse as he moved about he tried to stand and had to drop back down from the throb that went through his back posterior and legs. this time the tears managed to fall and angry at his own weakness he pounded his fist on the bed. "ree! how is it you do more to damage my body than to guard it? close the door and help me up!"

He flushed, it seemed that indeed the young servant had heard them for he was on his way back with a fresher and grander breakfast then before. He bowed handing the tray to Ree and he came to Kais side. "I am sorry Kais, I did not expect you to stay on. Do I need to call for Ben or a healer?"

he froze as a servant entered almost as if brought by his words and he did not speak until they were alone again though when the youth left the door was closed leaving him with his shame at saying such things where ears could hear, "no, i just need to get up and go to my own room, if my father hears this i will not walk away any more easily than now"

He crawled over to Kais and gently nudged him onto his back. "It is if he comes to see you for yourself. I am not sure how much he will question the rumor given how much noise was made last night. The guards can see the bruise on my back, you only need to be able to stand."

he was lost at the admission and it took several long moments before he remembered the damaged rib and the bitter salve. making a face he let his fingers slide down to where ree's were moments before and lightly rested on the spot. "i forgot how it was managed"

To that he smiled hiding his head where the other could not see it. He unveiled the small of Kais back and kissed it lightly before nuzzling his head against the skin. "Then until that time comes will you stay in bed or would you like to read in the garden? I plan to pull weeds, and I believe the fresh outside air is needed for you some times."

He forgot about the food and wondered if Zsa Zsa had taken their weakness to her gain. He smiled plucking a grape from the tray and pressing it towards kais lips. "You are the one that needs to eat, I can always steal my food later if I desire it."

the arm sliding around his side was warm but the food at the end of those warm fingers was cool to the touch. lightly he plucked the offered fruit with his lips. he could not help but touch one of the fingers as his lips found it

He gave a small chuckle at Prince, he reminded him of a turtle creature. Ree plucked another piece of food, this time instead of a fruit, he tore apart some of the warm bread, slathering it in butter and a dip of honey before offering it.

He laughed. "I am not hungry Kais." He tried to offer more food to Kais but the man would not take it. When Kais would not eat it Zsa Zsa greedily took his place.

not bothering to question ree's reasoning he simply refused as well which benefited only zsa though she seemed hungry enough that he did not mind so much. "when she is larger such bad behavior will be trouble"

he watched ree pick her up and twine her around his fingers as she tried to get back to the food. it made her shine like dull glass in the light of day. he wondered how old she was and if she would grow too big to hide before he could let her roam without worry

He laughed at the chirping beast. "You are going to get to big and sluggish,and when you do you will not be able to chase rats. Do not eat food from our plates unless we offer it to you." He wondered if the small beast could understand him. smiling he offered her to Kais. "Why does she like you better when I am the one that tends to her?"

lightly he smiled and accepted the little fingerling, "if i have to guess i would say it is because i fidget less and you usually finish your plate"

"Stupid beast, no sense of locality. I saved it. You only paid for it." He went back to occupying his hands by touching Kais. "Have you been working on your potions while you were locked in your room?"

the hands were a distraction and letting go of zsa who fled immediately to the plate he captured them the best he could in his own. "i have not"

"And why not? I know we are no longer on the ship but that is not an excuse to be lazy, Ben would not want you to get rusty and next time we are on the Maia or any ship, I would prefer if you made your own tonic to quell your sicknesses." He moved so he could look Kais in the eyes. "I will not let you loose your studies so easily when you gave me grand ideas about a medicine king that would change the world."

he did not like the look but knew he could not turn from it without shaming himself, "you are right aren't you? i will study then, i will still become a king that heals not breaks and makes my kingdom well not bloody from gold and land"

"I think it would help. I have been reading the atlas I bought and if we could travel up north to Adlyion, we could bring back more technologies that could also help your country evolve into a power house. The atlas speaks of a rumored mechanism. It could help here."

the change in direction made him uneasy, "what? machines? those are real but they are fragile and break. even if we could get any back without breaking them they would be worthless the first time they were dinged..... besides, what happened to medicine king? as soon as i mention power you have changed your song to that of my father's"

Ree shook his head. "There is power, there is change. I am talking about change. Power is not something I aspire for, but change is something. Every thing has a duel personality, herbs can be used for medicines, or they can be used for poison." He said "But if you do not think we need them we do not have to travel to see them."

he remained silent even after ree finished speaking though he did manage to pull free from the other and stand on his own two feet. he had nothing to say to that and so felt no need to even try though once standing he realized that walking would not be manageable. he flushed in shame

He watched Kais, and when he looked like he was in pain, Ree simply slid from his resting spot and put his arm around the others waist. "Would you like to go through the walls or through the door?" He
asked wondering if Kais wanted the guards to see him in this state.

he almost thought to snap at ree for such a comment but there was only himself to blame for this and so only himself to be angry at. "i would like for it to be tommorow. i cannot go through the walls ree, it will make me sick. if i walk around some first i am sure i can manage to leave without issue"

He watched the noble walk, the first few steps were met with a wince and a whine, the second attempt he became increasingly unsteady until at last Ree rushed to catch him before his knees gave way. Tucking his arms under the others knees he lifted him and toted him back to the bed. "I suppose you are my prisoner until you can at least walk with out falling, just enough to pass your guards, least more rumors fly."

the pain was wretched and he hated that his body was so weak against something that he usually could ignore by now. if he were of a more charitable mind he would pity women more but as it stood what was not taken by his own loathing was pulled away with ree's words, "there is only two reasons a prince would spend a day in another person's quarters, either they were plotting or making delegations of the sort ree would approve of and that i was here all of last night lends little credence to the former"

That made Ree laugh, though it ruined his plans to work in the garden since he was sure Kais would not want to be seen carried about like a blushing bride. "If you are trapped in my bed you are under my command. And I command you read to me and brush my hair." He said slyly.

"and i am a prince and this is my house. i could just toss you out and be done with it all." lightly he huffed as ree shifted and moved beside him, "i will read to you if you like but you can brush your own hair, you are not a child or a woman"

He moved around searching his belongings for a book the other could read. "But Kais, I want to be touched with out having sex." He said plainly. "You do not touch me in another spot. And even then only the brush is actually touching me."

saying nothing he held his ground and ree quickly hushed and came back with a book. he could see it was the ledger from ree's father and waiting for the other to settle against him and put it in his lap he tentatively let his fingers fall and tangle in ree's locks, "you are a fool ree, who said i didn't want to touch you?"

"You do not have to say anything Kais, I have eyes. I can see your hesitation." He said nothing as his body moved to see the words on he ledger and use Kais as a pillow. "I understand you can not treat me as my mother did, but there are times it keeps me from falling into melancholy, and if I am happy, Kais is happy."
