Default What is Tasteful nudity~?   #1
So I am going to draw commissions and I need to make a policy list that has a "Will draw" and "won't draw" on it

Now I am thinking about what to put into those categories because I am willing to draw almost anything. Here is what I have for will draw:

Will draw:
Couples M/M, F/F, M/F, etc.
OC's
Fanart
Tasteful nudity

And my
Won't Draw is:

Excessive gore
Genitalia
Porn

Now-the thing is I have been looking up tasteful nudity and am trying to figure out the definition. I will draw breasts and chests and stuff but I won't draw the genitalia itself. Would that still be considered tasteful nudity? Like when I think of tasteful nudity I imagine a woman being seductive having a cloth draped over her shoulder hiding one breast from view and showing her pelvis leading to her genitalia but the cloth covers it up.
Same with a male-he is holding whatever or something is convinently placed right over his crotch.

Do you think I should still put "Tasteful nudity" on my will draws or replace it with something else in case people will think of something else when they see it?
Like maybe Nudity up to PG-16?
PG16 means breast show or chest shows but no genitalia right? Do you think people will get it when they commission me?
(This is going to be for real life commissions btw)

I am just wondering...:O Sorry if this isn't in the right catergory D:

I find that my definition of tasteful nudity is different to many others.
For me, it's where nudity and genitals aren't a focus in itself, just a part of the composition and so on.

I agree with Zerook on this one personally.

But if you think different, you should explain what you mean by tasteful nudity. And if you mean it that way, you should say it too. So there is no confusion you know?

what if i put "tasteful nudity" in my "Will Draw"
And then "Porn"
and
"Genitalia (exceptions)"
In my won't draw
So do you think people would understand that "tasteful nudity" isn't straight on porn and that I will draw genitalia but it won't be like full on-

in the art classes i've been in and in the study of art itself, tasteful nudity generally means that while nudity is a part of the composition, it's not necessarily the focus of it or if it is, it is a focus on the beauty of the human body, such as the romanticism era in art (like botticelli or michelangelo - both heavily studied and admired the human form but in a more romantic way, not in a pornographic way)
people's definitions of 'tasteful' are going to vary, so you might want to put a little start like, next to it and mention 'here is MY definition of tasteful nudity" so people will know exactly where you coming from
in any case, pornography or pornographic images usually doesn't fall under the "tasteful nudity" category, but you can have genitalia showing without it being considered pornographic.

What about if I put "artistic" nudity instead? Would it mean something different? Or is it the same as tasteful nudity?

artistic nudity might vary less since it's traditionally a more rigid term. It's your choice, but once again you may want to add a little asterisk with your definition

Yeah I put a little asterisk besides "Violence/gore" and "Tasteful nudity" and then by the asterisk I will put * talk to me about what you are interested in commissioning and I will see if I can draw it

I agree with how the others are defining "tasteful nudity".
Based on what you see it as though, I think what I would do is instead of listing "tasteful nudity" or "artistic nudity" in you will do list, I'd put it as "partial nudity" because you're willing to do bare chests, just not nudity of the nether regions.

I agree with what has been said and that everyone's opinion involving tasteful nudity is quite different. For a female, it might be viewed as artistic if you do her fully nude while for a male, his privates have to be covered. It's just the way most artists view this.

You really need to view your own opinions and draw the line where artistic turns to porn as well as know the rules involving art on the site{s} the art will be displayed.

It might be good to define your kind of 'Tasteful Nudity' Not all people have the same deffination. Just Simply explain what it is brefly, but you put down you dont do porn. Thus it lets them know that your not into the indepth nudity. It all depends on the buyer, and when they come to buy you can tell them if that is too much or its ok.
