"What is rain if it is not a surprise?" He made quick work of scooping up their basket and blanket, as well as their back to haul them beneath the tree so they would not spoil or get wet. "Hardly are showers warm unless they are in the heat of summer, and even then the rain is still cold in comparison." He closed the distance between them to pull the other in a damp hug. Far off in the distance there was a rumble of thunder before the rain began to pour from the heavens onto the lonley plains. "See now? We cannot spend all day beneath this tree. This is the perfect opprotunity for a bath."

if anyone else had tried to hug him he would have pulled away but his master meant no harm and when the druid began to strip he reluctantly followed and put their things in the hollowed roots of the old tree before being tugged out into the wet

He could tell the other was not confident or trusting in the rain when they first stepped out, and he truly did have to admit that the droplets felt chilly against his skin. None the less he held Lonis' hand to assure that he followed, and he trudged several steps away from the tree to assure the other could not flee. "It is not that bad, and if you behave I will not make this into a lesson," he gave a soft wink to the boy as he began to work his hair free of the braid to let the rain begin to thoroughly soak everything.

after a while and with the help of getting to see his master enjoy the pelting cold water he managed to not feel so moody and was able to pretend this was a normal bath and even feel grateful as he scrubbed that the gods had chosen now to offer them this. when he was clean as he could be without soap and his master was ready he pulled them back to the tree to dry off

Once again he felt fresh, not only for their second wash in the rain but for the pleasurable presence of the boy at his side as they stood beneath the tree while the rain poured. "I know that I said we could not stay beneath the tree all day, but I believe it would be in our best interest to at least wait until the rain lessens. Given our location I think this is a very good time for a lesson. Take a seat, Lonis." Gently he patted the ground beside him as he went to take a seat of his own. "Today we will learn about water and rain, and maybe something special." Rolling up his sleeve he searched for soft soil without root before he dug a small well, and leaning forward from where the rain fell he made a small trivet for the rain to fill his small hole. "What do we have here, Lonis?"

flicking his tail he looked inquisitively down at the indention and leaned in to look before tipping his face back up to look at the other, "a pooling of water from the rain, i am not sure?"

"That is exactly what it is, a pool." He could begin to see enough rain had flowed into their small well, and layering dirt into the trivet he stopped the flow. "It is full of water, but with the mud and dirt it is tainted, and not healthy to drink as spring water would be. There is a way to clarify the water, but that is advanced magic." As if to show off he pointed at the water and it lifted out of the pool as a floating trickle into his hand where it was pure and clear before he let it fall back into the well. "Pool have many other purposes, they can be used to scry, but in this case I want you to feel the water. Stick your finger into the water and let me know what you hear or feel."

carefully he stuck his hand in and felt around for the water, as receptive as he was feeling he could not divine anything more than the tree and the body next to him with a few tiny blips from life under the earth, after a while he looked up, "i can feel many things but nothing in the water"

He smiled at the boy, "Well what else can you feel if not the water?"

he started to pull his fingers out but was halted and so he left them there, "i feel you... and the tree... and there are larvae or something living creature like it... i cannot tell"

(he does not realize this is abnormal XD)

"Very good. See, water can help one extend their powers. Like scrying, it is best if you look into water, unless you have a scrying potion, because of its properties. Under normal circumstances you would have most likely felt the larvae on a normal circumstance, and maybe the presence of the tree, but you are still early in training and you felt more than I would expect you to while using water as a medium." The smile continued to grace his face as he slipped his own fingers into the small pool. "Has that changed anything?"

it did but he was nt sure if it was what his master wanted, sheepishly he gave his answer, "....yes, i can only feel you"

Fingers inched forward through the water until he could feel the soft fingers beginning to pucker in the water. Weaving their fingers togather he pulled their hands from the water. "...and what do you feel now?"

the trap was there he could see it but with his belly filled and the warm fingers tangled with his it was hard not to fall into it and though his tail betrayed him he did his best not to jump his master under the tree, "....i.....i feel nothing but skin, i cannot hear anything but my own heartbeat"

He felt excited for the boy's answer until his stutter left him listening to the words of avoidance. For a moment his smile faltered before he brought it back and let their fingers unwind from each other. "We will try this exercise again at a different time, but it seems as though the rain has lessened. Make sure your boots are on tight and our things are packed away safely and we will do some more travelling today."

he did as he was told though in that time his shame had not lessened and he could not look his master in the eye despite the kind reassurances and gentle avoidance of his failure
