Bulfinch has a bunch of material that is often published in volumes so that may be why you have some but not all. We used his book on religion in my Ancient Greek Religion course. It was a seriously dense read but it was damn handy to have because it's one of the books that gets quoted non stop by other academics writing on similar topics and it's nice to have the original source for said quotes around for context and comparison.

Webcomicker!
The longest book I ever read was a biography on Cleopatra. I don't remember the title because I read it like 6 years ago but it took me a whole summer. It was supposed to be a summer assignment due the first day of school, but since only 3 students did it the teacher didn't even count it as an assignment. I was so mad. xP

The Dragon Reborn
For me... Probably any Wheel of Time book. They all have over 300,000 words, with most having many more than that. Smallest amount of time for me to read one of them was 2 days, but that was with me reading nonstop ALL DAY for both days.

Hmm... wish I had some of those in paper back so I could compare the size to The Bonehunters. All my WoT books are hardcover. It's probably close, though. Both series are Big Fat Fantasy.

This sounds really interesting, I love myths but I think I've only read greek and a few norse ones.
The longest book I read was "To Green Angel Tower" but if I had finished reading "Otherland" (both by Tad Williams) that would have been longer. Yes, I know Otherland was four books but it was meant to be read as one from what I could figure out.
Suzerain I know you hated "To Green Angel Tower" but I loved it >> I won't argue though, I know it's not for everyone xD

Oh, my ex roommate worshipped Tad Williams and that's why I read his books in the first place. I really did adore Otherland I just never got the final book ^^;

I'm not sure what the longest book I've ever read was... I'd argue Tolkien's Lord of the Rings or G.R. Martin's A Game of Thrones (and each of the sequels in the Song of Ice and Fire series). I enjoyed the varying perspectives of each of the characters in Martin's books, so... *shrugs* I don't mind long books so long as they're well written and entertaining.

I think a Storm of Words was the longest, though A Dance With Dragons might be longer when it comes out. Storm really felt like two books to me.

Speaking of Dance, after the spoilers I've seen around online, I don't think I'm even going to read that book. I've lost all faith in that man. Far as I'm concerned, ASOIAF is three books long.

Atlas Shruged by Ayn Rand. I swear the only way I finished that book was by pure stuborness.

Heh. There are a few books that I'm working to get through soley through being stubbourn. I'm letting some of them go though. There are better things I could be doing with my time.

Atlas Shrugged is in our bookshelf. I've seen Ayn Rand around but haven't picked up the book yet. Another series I've seen around lately with the release of another book is Clan of the Cave Bear and the searies that comes with it (can't remember what it's called). One of the most amusing -to me- user names I've encountered was "Can of the Cave Beer." One of those things I'd wish I thought of. :)

As I've said before I like Martin's writing style, and I liked how he partitioned the chapters, but I had to ditch the book for dislike of the plot. I tried skipping over chapters and only reading those from the perspectives of characters that I liked but it took a lot away from the book and I decided it wasn't worth it. Gave the book to my aunt, who has an entire bookcase of fantasy, science fiction, and supernatural books. She's read all of Anne Rice and Anne McAffery repeatedly. I apologise to my book for the fate I've doomed it to, should my aunt get it in her head to read it. She's the type who reads books in the bath and they get steamed up when she doesn't drop them the odd time, and marks her place by folding the books in half and sticking them in her pocket. I'm incredibly anal about the condition of my books, and I can read something repeatedly and still have it look reasonably new.

War and Peace, followed by The Count of Monte Cristo.

I enjoyed the latter significantly more than the former.
