Hey.
I wasn't really raised a Pagan.... more like adopted the religion after reading up on it. The whole thing fascinated me, and after reading alot, I started calling myself a Pagan. Although, I'm 15 now, and a little rusty with Paganism, but most of the stuff I can remeber. I'm even using some of the things in my story, but changing them up, so it dosen't look like I'm stealing, and I've always thought of myself as a Claistenient.

Yay! You made it.
I looked into the claistenience and what I found sounds a lot like being an empath. I've had some run ins with this sort of thing. I actually work really hard to block it because it can be terribly overwhelming taking on the emotions of others. Is this what you meant? If not correct me please!

One of my friends is a very strong empath; she says there's no hell like puberty with that gift, and i can believe it. I got lucky and only began developing that trait in the last year or so, and even then it's stronger with spirits than with the living.
And welcome Toxic, glad you could join us here at the Pagan Inn. Where there's a Witch, There's a Way ;)

-sees talk about empathy-
@Wicked, For myself, if there's a lot of people, it's harder for me to block it. The closer I am to someone emotionally, the harder it is to block it. It's useful sometimes, to be sure, but most of the time it's a hard thing to deal with. ![]() ♥ Never be afraid to be yourself ♥ Want to see my art or webcomic? I envy all of you people who are sitting here talking about how as much as empathy sucks you just have to avoid large groups of people. I can't. And I really don't know why anyone would want this ability...
And I agree with your friend Raven. Puberty as an empath sucks. And to make sure I break my rant apart before it flys out of control, Hi Toxic! I amGREED, Fall before me!

For me "blocking" is all about creating a mental barrier.
It's essentially, shielding and I've gotten better with practice. I used to be extremely susceptible to psychic vampires. Not that I really need a qualifying statement here with you guys but I'm not referring to some kooky Twilight stuff. Most of the people who feed on energy are hardly aware they're doing it. I'm not saying it's IMPOSSIBLE that there's some people who actually hone this sort of thing - just that I haven't encountered them. Edi: Ninja'd >< Why don't you have any shields Taiania?

Please don't hate me? I kind of am, in a way . . . but i take energy mostly from sunlight so . . . yh put me in strong sunlight in summer and i become the energiser bunny on sugar lol ^.^
And you're right, Wicked, many of us don't and then, suddenly, we do. We call those who don't know "beacons" because others who are aware just sort of gravitate to them. Those vamps then help the beacon become aware. A vamp awakening - aka becoming aware - will suddenly take in a great deal of energy all at once. I had the misfortune to do so on the college bus back home, on the motorway! Not fun. Didn't crash, luckily. But my sources were emotional and photo (light). Emotions still but more the light, and being aware means i can control it. I graze if there isn't enough light, which means six out of twelve months, and i suffer S.A.D. like crazy. You know, a little here a little there, and always from big crowds. We think that's where my empathic abilities have come from, that and "psychic puberty". Some people reckon it comes from not being properly grounded, but i am. It's more like . . . for some reason you just start having to take in energy from your surroundings. I'm not really sure, i just know i am and i do. Ok, odd post is gonna end now. I think i rambled . . . Where there's a Witch, There's a Way ;)
