I gave my adult cats milk once and it did not go well. I found there is a special milk you can get specifically for cats in Petland. It is lactose free and shouldn't make them sick. Also, my eldest cat has a sensitive stomach and often gets ill. I recommend cat foods like Purina sensitive systems. Something easily digestable and meant for cats with possible sensitive stomachs/digestive tracts. I am using a science diet food currently that seems to be doing fairly well but is pricey. Here is a sight that has quite a few things to help with cats that you can buy. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/ Also watch the litter box for any issues there, that is how I found out my kitten had worms at one point and treated him.

Ladyduet: only gave a spoonful worth 2 different days- two cats shared it and nods
the yogurt helped her sister the one who was just not eating much
didn't get sick after it
hmm only time I give them a little bit of milk is to help them drink up worm medicine since it works like a charm
but hasn't been giving them any more yogurt, few reasons
she was doing better and my sister was eating it all =p

Fallen: checked ~ no sugar in anything I give them
nods, good thing to point out ^-^ something I should always remember, thanks, hmm I remember reading something about that when we were looking up stuff about our dogs and rabbits before we got cats

Hoshi Astarte:
thanks nice to know about the non-lactose milk
hmm my boyfriend's cat has an even worse tummy unable to even handle most meats and many types of dry food... so the food might also be good for her
he also recommended for me to get Purina today for my cats
if and when I do will have to slowly mix with the food they are used to and since a quick change like that would be hard on them ^-^

everyone, please remember, yogurt isn't milk, it's NOT going to cause the lactose issues that milk will. Even humans whom are lactose intolerant are told by their doctors to eat yogurt. I wouldn't have recommended it if it was an issue. I've been working with animals for 15 years, I don't ever give suggestions that will knowingly harm an animal.

I'm glad it sounds like you're kitties are on the mend. And spoiling them every now and then is good. :)

As for the food switch, I'm curious, you say Purina, but that's a company name not a specific food. If you're looking to give them a better food you need to look at the ingredients and pick ones that don't include words like 'corn by product' 'animal by product' or have wheat/corn/rice as the first ingredients. Purina makes Pro Plan, which I will STRONGLY endorse as being a great food, but not all cats do well on it. Up until my cat could no longer take allergy shots I had him on the sensitive system formula(salmon and rice) and he loved it. Gave him fishie breath though. The nice thing about Purina(all their lines) is that it's all made in the US, so should another recall happen like a half dozen years ago it won't effect their foods.
I've gone to look for myself, if I should return before I get back keep me here.

this link is my answer fey.

it may not BE milk but it is made FROM milk. that is why i told her to be careful. that, and one of my cats, mika by name, started getting the runs after eating some two years ago while i was at my parents.

Too much yogurt can cause that, HOWEVER, yogurt doesn't contain the lactose that causes the actual digestive issues that are found inherently in milk and cheese. And the healthy cultures IN yogurt help 'reboot', as it were, the digestive cultures found naturally in their system. Vets will tell you the same thing. As will most medical professionals.

That being said, all advice is just that. Take it with a grain of salt and a pinch of sugar.

nods yeah thanks on yogurt tips, and nods not all cats can have it... it is like how my uncle's cat can't eat meow mix like my cats can...and what not...

her main problem I think anymore is eating to quickly but I let her be with her sister again who likes sharing bowls with her, so they go back and forth eating so it makes her eat slower
which I think is helping, since I've done that she hasn't got sick for the past 3 days

if she gets sick again will update this- if things I've already done don't work

thanks everyone ^-^ for all the helpful information
