Alright, so, lately I've been wanting to get back into crafting. I used to make Sculpey Charms, Soaps, Jewelery, Pendants and things like that. So I decided to go hop around, to see how the selling community was because I want to open up a shop, and sell things there as well.

... I didn't realize how popular the community had gotten, and now I'm really not feeling like my stuff will sell at all. I've been told I'm a creative individual, and I'm far more admired than I think I am, so my things would be quite different from the norm. Because it wouldn't be JUST Jewelery I'm throwing out there. But compared to most of the "community" my stuff... it wouldn't compare at all! Firstly, I don't have the skill most of these individuals have. So I'm feeling a little as if I won't be able to be successful at it. I know, I know. Practice makes perfect, and the more I practice, the better I'll get. But the thing about it is... is well? I don't think the things I make even stand a CHANCE at getting viewed, looked at, fallen in love with, etc. <.<;

I don't have much confidence in my creations. Some of these people are just down right amazing! And so when I see things like that I don't even want to try. And that... really pisses me off.

Anyway. I know I'm going to try. I just don't know how motivated I'm going to be to actually post things I work on. Or even try to sell them. -shakes head- Its times like these I wish I could hit myself in the back of the head with a frying pan, to knock some darn sense into me. xDD;

You don't just need sense, you need to be confident. Nothing sells better than confidence.

Batty, you got this, I have faith in you. I can't say much more than I believe in you, but I hope you just believe that and move forward. ^_^

I know how you feel :< I make charms and when I made them like 3 years ago and sold them at this convention, nobody else had any. This year I've been told 3 or 4 other people will be selling. Mine aren't spectacular XD I'm hoping if I sell at stupid low prices they'll buy mine >.>

I love it that you believe in me, and honestly?
Telling me you do, makes me want to strive that much better.
I was already going to make the stuff anyway, just the shop && selling part is what I'm worried about.

Theres SO much on the market, things way cuter, and far better made than mine.
And thats whats making me doubt the ability to do this. =/

I've got SO many ideas. I just need to implement them in MY style. And hope to the GODDESS they sell. xDD;

Aww Batty, I've seen some of the stuff you can make with pixels so I'm sure you can make some wonderful stuff with real materials too :3 Hermers is right though, if you're confident your stuff will sell great I'm sure ^^

YUS! I don't know what came over me, this morning.
I mean, I AM determined to put a huge dent in the community, but then just seeing all the shops on etsy & what not.. theres A LOT to choose from.

I guess I just thought "Where does my stuff fit in?" and kinda snowballed from there.

But I'm excited. If I don't make money online, maybe I can OFFLINE.

WEll it's the same basics of online selling sept they can look at yours and somebody elses side by side right there. XD

Sometimes just because it's perhaps "cuter" than you think yours is, people might not like the other and think yours are way better. Go for it ^^

You've got this! ^^ I'm sure many people will adore your artwork and besides everyone is a bit shy of their works, so you're not alone! You need to have confidence in your work because if you don't think it looks good then somebody else may think it is perfect or beautiful <3 You'll be fine and it never hurts to try!

I'm a creative soul too and I learned that looking at other people work can really demotivate me and think my stuff might not be good enough or what ever. That just doesn't work.
I have found out that the best way to tackle that, is to just enjoy doing what you love doing. Making the things you love making and then present it to the outside world. It's not about what others make and how your stuff compares.
It's about creating things and someone out there might find yours the perfect 'art'. We are unique as humans, we create uniqueness too. Trust in that.

You need to stop putting yourself down.
I always thought that I was not a very good writer, but apparently I'm amazing. If you put yourself down, like I did, eventually you won't even want to do what you love anymore because you're so intimidated by competition and stuff. D:
Confidence is the best weapon! In my opinion.
