Default I'm a high school graduate!   #1
Yes, it is true! I just graduated high school today and I'm very happy about it. With the way I despised school, it didn't seem like I would be able to graduate high school with all my absences. I don't miss school at all and I'm ready to move on. I have a job and I'm going to be moving out this week. Time to move forward in life!

Please, tell me how your graduations went if you graduated this year from high school/college, how your high school/college graduation was in the past, and if you haven't graduated high school, how do you expect it to be?

I graduated five years ago, and likewise hated highschool. I didn't attend the ceremony. Went to community college right after, starting on my Bachelor's in English in the fall. I like college a lot better than high school, especially the number one rule: "No one cares".

My mother says if I manage to get my doctorate, there's no way in hell I'm skipping *that* ceremony, despite that I'll probably be 30 by then. :p

Oh, also, congratulations. Good luck with the rest of your life.

Congrats Nanka :3

Let's see, my high school graduation was 14 years ago... so I don't remember it that well. I wasn't super fond of high school because I was more or less invisible, so I don't really do much there except the odd after school sport (cross country/track to be specific). I went to two colleges so I had 2 graduations there, they were pretty much just "meh" for me, but I had a lot more friends at the second college and didn't want to leave :P

I graduated high school a few years ago. It was nothing special, really. We did have to have the Alma Mater memorized in order to walk, though. It wasn't a problem for me because I was on the Yearbook staff and the advisor was the one everyone went to to recite it beforehand.

@Suzerain: I wasn't the biggest fan of high school either and I'm glad to get out. Also, thank you.
@Serra: I wasn't invisible in school at all. A lot of people know me and I know a lot of people. I asked a few friends and a lot of people cheered for me as I walked across the stage. Of course, I heard nothing except that they said my last name wrong and horrifically. The guy announcing said so many names wrong and he is an idiot in general. Why they let him say them, I have no idea.
@Lucifer: I don't miss it yet and I'm sorry that happened. :c
@Reyoki: That's such a stupid thing to have to memorize to actually walk. I'm glad you were able to, though!

It was actually a pretty big problem a couple years before I graduated. Every year they sing the Alma Mater at the graduation ceremony, but apparently over 3/4 of the class of 2006 didn't know a single bit of it. It was quite embarrassing for all the alumni present as well as the principal.

Oh Nanka thats awesome!!! ^_^

I graduated about 4 years ago, yeah that seems right. XD I had so many different emotions about graduating. While I loved a couple teachers I was excited to move on and meet new people. It sucks being queer while living a small town. I didn't have any problems because of it, but, I just wanted to meet other people that understood me.

The only thing that I was sad about was that I leaving behind my partner. We had become SO close that it seemed impossible for us not to see each other in school everyday. They got sick once and stayed home for a week...and I was so lost and alone because they weren't there.

But I'm glad that I graduated, really I am. I wouldn't have realized how much I want to work LGBT youth or even how I wanted to reach out to them. It's just weird to think back that far.

First off, congratulations!!! ^^ I know exactly how you feel, I do not miss school at all! My graduation went pretty well. I graduated last year and was the top 3rd in the class and I can't wait until I graduate college. :) I start in a medical program during the fall of this year.

Congrats, I graduated last Friday and it went pretty well. I mean some of the speeches were a bit boring, but there was one funny one.

I graduated on the 4th, one day before you ^^ I am very happy to be out of school as well. I was practically invisible, didn't play any sports or join any clubs. Mostly because my mom didn't have the money to pay for me to play sports and such, but that's alright. It's over, at least for the next 10 years before I see those people again.

Congratulations! :'D

I graduated in 2008. My graduation went well enough. I actually don't remember a whole lot of the ceremony itself (like the speeches and stuff) but I remember waiting to get ready for it, and talking to everyone beforehand. I hugged the guy I'd had a crush on all through high school (he was my friend, and I was like, 'Well, that's a good enough excuse to hug him, right?') and spent a lot of time trying to remember who I was supposed to be walking behind for the walk to our seats.

When I got my diploma (well, "diploma". It was actually a blank piece of paper; we got our real diplomas after the ceremony), my gown sleeve caught on the stair railing and I nearly tripped. xD

To be honest, I was pretty blah about graduation up until it was actually occurring. Then I turned into an emotional wreck because I knew a lot of people in high school that I liked, but I knew we wouldn't ever see each other again. Plus one of my best friends just up and moved to New York the day of graduation, and skipped the ceremony, so I barely even got to say good bye to her. Plus there was that whole "the rest of my life is going to be freaking hard" thing. xD

@Reyoki: That actually is quite embarrassing.
@Desmond: I'm quite happy that I graduated. I'm going to miss my friends, but I won't be gone forever. I'm not dead! Also, I'm really excited to work with LGBTQ youth and now I have that opportunity.
@MoonPrincess: Let us know how Medical School goes! <3
@Ashley: Our class president kept doing this weird thing with her head during her speech. It was so freaking weird. xD
@Ginger: I'm wondering how many of my classmates are going to be dead by our 10 year anniversary. The kids in my class aren't very intelligent nor have common sense.
@Johnny: The same exact thing happened to me at graduation! My damn gown got stuck on the railing. I smoothed it and was like, "Lol whatever." I also just up and left today, even though it was planned already. xD

We're all mad here.
I graduated high school in 2003, which was late actually because I stopped attenting regular high school in grade 8 because of my health. My courses were essentially a brick I carried around in my pocket for the next few years. It sucked because I could never get away from it. My course load was small so I took correspondance courses in the summer. It was pretty much like having constant homework without the classes.

I didn't go to muy grad. My dad didn't see high school as any great accomplishment so he asked mem if I would mind if he didn't come. I told him of course I didn't but he could only stay home if I got to stay home too, so we went out to the pub instead. :). I did go to an awards ceremony in the gym because I got top geology student but that was it.

For university I started to go into social work but ultimatley switched to English literature which is more a passion for me but I still would like to do something in terms of helping people even if not for a profession.

I have my bachelor of arts in English lit, and I'm considering going back for another in sociology since I am already half-way there pretty much and don't have much else to do at the moment besides get a job. English degrees aren't terribly good at making money with. I'm actually considering teaching, though that's the one thing I told myself that I would never ever do. It wouldn't be institutional teaching though, but small groups and tutoring maybe, that sort of thing.

Congratulations! :D

I am a fellow graduate myself, graduated on May 27th. I was kind of a nervous wreck because it took place in this huge stadium with 3/4s of the place being taken up by friends, and family. Luckily I was seated next to a good friend of mine, so we could talk a little throughout the ceremony. I think it was a good time, except saying goodbye to classmates that I've grown up with, and driving out of the blasted area...so many bad student drivers. :(
