Zombie Suzerain. Might make it hard to hold those nice swords you always have, or at least use them effectively..

Just got back, had to go meet with my academic adviser to discuss what I'm doing now that I'm enrolled.
Looks like I might have to take some foreign language courses to qualify for my English degree. I took college French in high school, but they're not sure if it meets the requirements or not. Other than that, I need 11 English courses and I have my bachelor's. I want to get a job as a professor, eventually, but apparently it's a really tough field to get hired in. And I'd need to stick it out all the way to a PhD, as the degree is kind of useless before that point, which is a bit worrying. On the plus side, I can fulfill their creative writing program as part of my English program, which is great, since those are the classes I'd most want to take, anyway. In other news, I've had a persistent headache since I woke up. Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion between supposed lovers. Between supposed brothers.

Oh, Suzerain, how much french do you know? I took 6 years of it in junior high and high school but it never seems to stick. I'm decent at reading/writing it though.
And I hope your headache goes away. I hate those ones that won't leave D: ![]() ♥ Never be afraid to be yourself ♥ Want to see my art or webcomic? Serra's Art Gallery A Neko's Quest | My Closet Kitsune's Haven Image courtesty of tsukiko

I took French for 5 years between middle school and high school, so if I do have to take more, hopefully it'll come back to me. It's been years, though.
And my headache seems to have finally gone away, thankfully. Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion between supposed lovers. Between supposed brothers.

Wow, nice Suzerain. I wasted my high school years. xD; I'm too scatterbrained/unfocused. I almost failed miserably, so now my only option for school is community college, and I'd have to ace that to even have a chance of getting into the local university.
And on top of that, I still have no idea what I'd even study...

I got a bachelors in Math but I haven't really found a use for it. I could probably be an actuary if I put my mind to it, but what I really wanted to do was become a math teacher/tutor. I'm just not sure how, the last place I tried to be a tutor at didn't like me, because I didn't know it all off the top of my head, but I'm really good at explaining math to people that hate math, or so some of my one-on-one students have told me.

I love math but I'm in the minority xD At least until I hit statistics. For some reason I never fully grasped how those worked oO

I completed an associate's degree in Construction Technology my first two years of community college, about half of which was math courses (including a four-hour trig class.) I managed to stick it out and get the degree, but I never plan to use it.
I went back and got my gen. ed. in Humanities after and am now starting on my English bachelor's. And, Dolly, I'm not sure how I actually graduated high school. I skipped more of my senior year than I attended, flunked Calculus and Physics, and had to write six essays to pass P.E., as I refused to participate. I found that, in my case, the atmosphere was the main issue. I did a lot better in community college, and hopefully I'll be able to keep up with my university classes. The high school atmosphere definitely sucked. I had to drop out of public school and do my senior year online because my grades were so low, and I had no chance of keeping them perfect because there was too much drama that I would have constantly skipped classes to avoid.

High school was.. a chore for me, but I was mostly a loner and apparently invisible when needed so I missed a lot of any drama or teasing. Two years of community college was also fairly normal, I hardly spent any time with anyone there aside from my tutor students and it was a long drive so I was always ready to get going when classes were over. As for two years at a private college however... that's when my grades started to slip as I realized I could actually socialize with people and have fun! Unfortunately since socializing was all new to me I didn't manage my time as well as I should have and missed several classes as well as important homework assignments. But I did manage to graduate at least...

I don't think I spoke a word to a non-teacher my entire last two years of high school. I also wasn't in the yearbook, never once attended an extra-curricular event, and skipped my graduation.
My senior English teacher in particular loathed me, as I skipped pretty much every class of hers while we were reading Macbeth (she was also the drama teacher, head of the school's drama club, and did her master's thesis on Shakespeare... you see where this is going) while at the same time, I was the only person in the class who actually read the entire play and the essays I wrote on it were so good, she couldn't do anything but pass me. I skipped my prom, but by then I was a mature student (high school went slow for me from my health) and didn't partucularly care to go. Didn't bother with graduation either. I didn't socialise that much in college either, since living in a conservative town at the time, most everyone else my age was married with kids. I got to know people better through my step sister though and it helped when I found the local geek hangout. None of my friends up there are from the college though.
A language is par for the course in arts degrees. There is usually a course or equivalent that you have to reach so you can always look up what level of French you need to know and challenge the course. In Canada, high school French up to grade 12 will cover the requirement, but I haven't taken French since grade 6 (not usually allowed by my counsellor was nice and got the requirement dropped), hence two years of Swedish instead.

Well, my senior French course was supposed to be a college course equivalent, so I really hope it fits the requirement, or I can get it waived for something else, as I really don't want to do the foreign language thing.
Oh, and, seriously, whoever invented Class Day for high school students deserves their own private circle of Hell. What kind of a narcissist do you have to be to think dozens of sleeping people at 6:00 a.m. care in the slightest bit that you're graduating? I wish they all would have driven into the river. How that sort of behavior isn't illegal under grounds of Disturbing the Peace is beyond me. *is cranky and overtired* Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion between supposed lovers. I've never heard of class day. Is that a regional celebration?
