The ever mysterious character that comes to deliver mysterious messages (hints and tips how to move forward, or about the plot) from some higher in-game instance. The main is probably fascinated with her on some level (if guy), and definitely frustrated, because she doesn't come when s/he thinks it's most needed.

The cool computer controlled character that people really really wish got to join the party but never does except for the odd battle and you can't take any of her stuff! ;).

The NPC who owns a shop of odds and ends and who is not easily impressed by anything and often makes snippy comments about the player's intelligence and/or looks, but will help out with a quest or two for the sake of the greater good!

The unassuming giggly outgoing character that is accompanied at all times by a small furry companion and is surprisingly tough.

Okay, you've been upgraded to the suave and womanizing (or man-... izing... if that's more your cup of tea <3) swordsman who is always ready to help out - and fall at the feet of - an attractive person of their preferred gender, and who disregards or just plain dislikes anyone of their un-preferred gender.

how utterly delightful! Though no worries, that's just my face-man up there, I'm lurking in the back ;).

Okay, how about the proprietor of a cyber cafe that is really a supreme hacker extraodrinair that has a back room stuffed with every manner of technological toy imaginable. Has the secret tech shop that characters must complete a complicated side quest to get to.

The antihero that joins the hero to save the world.... Then beats the hero up for being a big headed smartass.

Taiania is that annoying chick that joins your party early in the game that is completely useless and nobody likes. Around the middle of the game, though, she gains amazing magical powers that are essential to your party's success! These powers come from her epiphany, which makes her very humble and deep.
