Default So I helped a friend decorate a cake.   #1
I helped a friend decorate a cake last night. It was my first time actually decorating one. She posted a picture of it on a social networking site when it was done, but she didn't mention anything about me helping her with it. People have been commenting her picture saying how cool it is and everything, and she hasn't said a word about having help with it. I think this has something to do with a grudge. I don't really know what it is.

I don't know what's making me sicker: The cake or the fact that she's taking all of the credit for something I helped her with.

What should I say to her?

Sometimes you have to just sit back and accept the anonymity. It sucks, a lot, but ask yourself this, did you help her to get praised, or did you help her because she was a friend in need? Should she give you recognition for what you did? Sure, but sometimes people aren't capable of sharing praise. Blame, sure, share that around, but praise is all [mine].
I've gone to look for myself, if I should return before I get back keep me here.

Yes, but it's a different story when I actually did a lot of the art and she is getting the credit for what I did. People are offering her jobs and telling her to open up a bakery, but she has said nothing at all about me helping her. She is taking all of the credit. I did enjoy helping her, yes, but it's a turn of events when she doesn't mention anything about having any kind of help with it. It was significant for me too because it was my first time decorating a cake. I don't know if she has taken that to heart, but apparently not.

I'm not saying you shouldn't feel upset, I personally would be livid and I'd simply call her on it and tell her to either fess up or I would for her. However, this happens to a LOT of us, so you have to decide, is this worth it? Yes, you did an AWESOME job on your FIRST cake, that's GREAT!(I mean this 1000% cause I have the artistic ability of a blind nematoad) But is it worth a confrontation with a friend(a good one I'm assuming)?

If she's offered all sorts of things just remember, she won't be able to deliver, it'll be on HER head. And that sort of things follows a person through life. You get caught claiming things that aren't yours, friends, managers and others will remember and you WON'T be able to escape that stigma.

Also, she KNOWS these praises aren't for her, and it has to be eating at her. So, of course she's not going to admit NOW that she didn't do it.

In the end you have two options. Confront her or let it be. Only you can decide what action is worth what results :)
I've gone to look for myself, if I should return before I get back keep me here.

But the thing is, she hasn't really been a friend to me. Like, ever. We've hung out a couple of times, yes, but other than that she usually ignores me.

Soo I will let it be. If she ever asks me to help her with anything artistic again, I am going to refuse and tell her it's up to her to live up to her cake decorating reputation that has just been given a slight boost by moi.

Well, I mean, while the door on that project and recognition for it might be closed, that could open another door to something bigger and better. Obviously, people think that the cake was made by someone really talented. That means you probably have quite a bit of talent of your own. If it was something you really enjoyed doing, you could always try making one all by yourself. My best friend decorates cakes, and even when they're not perfect they're still adorable and everyone loves them. Maybe you'll discover a new passion in life.

And on a less good-spirited note... maybe people will love your cakes even more than they love the one you didn't get credit for helping to make. =P

There are tons of resources online to help you get started. Recipes and icing tips and ways to make them come out just right... You should try it!

I don't do a lot of decorating cakes but I LOVE decorating cupcakes! And the best thing about them is that one box can make 24 small cupcakes so that's lots of them to practice on.

i think you should post a message on her social page commenting ont the cake picture and say something this isn't insulting but you know she will take that way. I don't know what though I always come up with stuff when it's too late lol
Or just post something like I will never help you decorate a cake again

Honestly, I would just tell her how you feel...Maybe she didn't even do it purposely with the intention of leaving your name out of it.. o.o whatever it is... if its a grudge , if not... You guys should talk it out.
