Sayaku moved his free hand behind his head, scratching the back of his neck as he followed suit, leaving the room and closing the door behind them. He walked slightly behind the other one. "Waffle fan, huh? Home-made are better then those store-bought things though...But I'm happy with plain ol' eggs. Then again, I'm used to hunting down those eggs days before...Those chickens can be rowdy..." He grumbled, remembering some of the bad times, then some of the good times. "Rowdy but cute I guess."

He smiled over at Oliver. "Sorry if I'm talking too much about farm stuff. I grew up there so it's really all I can remember most of the time..."

Olivia smiled and nodded, agreeing with his opinion on waffles, the home-made really was better. "No, it's fine. I like hearing about it. It's a lot different from where I grew up. There it's kinda boring. And strict. Everyone has a role and no one deviants from it. And if someone does they become the topic of old women's gossip." She told him with sigh. Yes, she loved her home, but the place could be so obsessed with tradition that it forgot that people were individuals.

She looked around, seeing the individuals they passed. Most of them were tall and intimidating looking, at least to her. She guessed they just seemed that way to her right now because she was nervous. Given a few days they would be nothing more than people she happened to pass in the hallway. She hoped.

"Well, farming villages have very strict customs too, y'know. Like at home, it was rare that I wasn't in the barn because it was my set job to take care of the cattle and livestock. My mother was in charge of cleaning and cooking and...Well, for some reason my dad was always asleep it seemed like. I barely saw him during the day. My sister grew up separately so she had no job specifics. But...Everyone had things basically set that they had to do. And no one really left the village much. Chini, the girl I mentioned last night... She's next in line to take over the general store. Her mother took it over after her grandparents and so forth. It's all tradition too."

He laughed a bit. "But we still have things we do outside of working. I used to play guitar for the little kids who weren't old enough to work yet. It just all depends you know?"

Olivia grinned, enjoying hearing about Saya's home life. It was different from her own and yet similar. She wanted to tell him the things she had done back at her home, the people she had known and every strange habit they possessed. Yet she wasn't sure exactly how much she could say. What would give away her secret? The tiniest hint could help him make the connection later if more information ever went his way. Yet the idea of keeping him in the dark about her past made her feel, for lack of a better word, discontent.

"I guess life is the same in some ways wherever you go." She said glancing over at him with a friendly smile. Yes, she had defiantly found the perfect roommate, and good friend along with that. "What kind of songs would you play for them?"

"It really depended on the timing. If it was getting near a festival or somethin', I'd write little jingles or something about the festivals to get them excited. Other times it was lore put into music or even just a lullaby if it was getting late and no one was tired. I just played whatever seemed right at the time really- and what the kids would ask for at other times." Sayaku let out a chuckle, smiling over at his friend. He was glad he'd gone to that school already, but at least now he had more reasons to be.

"Though none of the words were ever in English, mind you, since most people in the village speak Norwegian as a first language. If I tried to write a song in English none of them would understand. But I can still play some for you later if you want."

She tried to see it in her head. Saya surrounded by little children waiting eagerly for a song. Perhaps they would sit by a fire and stare up at the stars as he played. It was a beautiful picture and it almost made her sad that she had never experience something like that.

"I would like that." She said with a smile, looking over at Saya. She looked away just a second to late for it to be natural, her gaze lingering on his face. She wondered if he was aware at all, on any level, that she was girl. It didn't seem like it, considering he spoke so naturally with her and had trouble with girls. A spark of irritation flowered in her. Was she that unfeminine?

She didn't have long to dwell on this thought, though as within the next second a hand came down on her head and ruffled her hair. "The new students keep getting smaller and smaller every year, I swear it." Said a cheerfully good-natured sounding voice. Olivia looked up to find a tall boy staring down at her with eyes the shade newly grown grass. Scraggly brown hair hung in his face, just above his eyes, as he looked down at her. He stuck out his hand.

"I'm Joey, welcome to your new school." He said with a grin. Olivia put her hand in his hesitantly and he shook her hand enthusiastically. "Olvi-" She started to say until she caught herself. "-er" The boy's hand dwarfed hers. Then he held it out for Saya to take.

"Sayaku. Nice to meet'cha." Sayaku didn't hesitate to accept the handshake, considering it was a simple gesture. He had noticed the boy's eyes seemed to be the same color as his own sister's, and also studied his facial structure.

He looked fairly familiar, from an old picture his uncle had shown him. "I swear you look like my cousin...Though only through a picture." He laughed, nodding easily. "Joey huh? So you're an upperclassman I'm guessing?" He was nonchalant as he spoke, but not rude. Just simple. "How do you do?"

Joey grinned and shook Sayaku's hand, his other hand still on Olivia's head. "Yep. I'm a senior. It's good to be back and seeing all of my old friends, and the new ones. Which as I said keep getting smaller." He down as Olive. "Look at you shorty! You sure you're old enough to be here?" He teased in a good-natured way that Olivia was beginning to think was permanent.

She grinned along with him, his happiness catching. "No. I think your just abnormally tall." She told him. It was true too, he was much taller than the average guy his age. It was also true however that Olivia was shorter than a guy her age would be. Though her height was perfectly average for a girl.

"You guy's going to breakfast? I'll tag along." Joey said easily. He'd said it so naturally it seemed normal for him to insert himself into their little group of two that Olivia almost didn't question it at all until she realized they'd known each other all of two seconds. Men where strange, or at least this one was.

"I gotta agree with Olive, you're definitely taller then average." Sayaku chuckled, smiling as he enjoyed their abnormal conversation about heights. "It's fine with me if you join us. How 'bout you, Olive? Mind the extra company?" A grin was still on the boy's face as he looked at his friend. He then thought of a question to ask Joey and turned back to him. "Hey, Joey...Do you know where Schalanger's classroom is from the cafeteria? We gotta go there next, so it'd probably be good to know how to get there."

"Ah, true. I am taller than most." Joey said with a grin and a flourish of his hand that released Olivia -finally- from his grasp. Olivia rolled her eyes and scooted slightly closer to Saya.

"I don't mind." She said, thinking that this boy seemed like he just might turn out to be a very funny companion. Also, the more friend she made the more at ease she would be here, surrounded by unfamiliar men.

Joey made a face the mention of Schalanger. "Oh yes, I know where his class is. He's a tough teacher to handle. Just stay quiet and out of his way and you'll be fine. His class is just to the north of the cafeteria, can't miss it." He said and then began to walk toward the cafeteria again. Olivia followed suit glancing at Saya before she did so.

Sayaku naturally walked after Joey, letting him guide the way as if he were a tour guide- or just because it seemed right at the time. "That bad, huh? Well thanks for the warning then. I'll try not to cause any trouble." He let a slight chortle escape his throat without thinking as he looked over at Oliver. "What do you think, Oliver? Think we'll be able to handle that teacher? Strict teachers can be a pain...But I don't mind them too much."

Olivia laughed. "I think so. Though just in case, I don't think I'll say a word in there." This had been her plan before hand too. The less attention she called to herself the better. She said this just as they walked into the cafeteria and her eyes scanned the room. It wasn't as crowded as she thought, nor loud. Perhaps this school would be calmer that she thought.

"Here we are! This place, unlike most school, has the best food around." He grinned and hurried off into the line, making a motion that they should follow him. Olivia turned to Saya. "Interesting place huh?" She said with a small chuckle.

"Interesting place with interesting people, you got that right." He chuckled as well. "Definitely not what I was expecting so far, but not a bad thing either." Grinning, he began to walk after Joey again but keeping an eye on Oliver to make sure he was nearby as well. "Glad you came to this school so far?"

Olivia smiled as if she was sharing a private joke with herself. Which, she was in a way. "I am. I mean I always thought it would be worth it in the long run, but I figured it would be something I'd have to tough through on short-term. It still might be, but so far it's great. Definitely worth it." She told him.

She glanced at Joey, who was joyously receiving his food in front of him. He was a funny guy from what she could tell, but he also seemed to be good-hearted. She was glad to have met him. But more than that she was glad to have met Sayaku. She looked back it him, trying not to appear to be staring. It was her second day here and she was sure she had made a good friend in him. Sure, there were things to learn about each other still, but her instincts told her that he was good and she trusted her instincts.

Sayaku walked along the line easily, getting served a simple yet nutritious meal. Each person involved in giving him his food got a polite and easy word of gratitude, followed by a salutation to take care of themselves. He checked to Oliver from time to time to see how he was doing as well.

"I'm glad you feel that way. I know I'm happy so far. Nice people and it should be good for helping us improve in what we're trying to do. SO it seems like a good fit."

As they got their meal Olivia could hear Saya thanking their servers very politely. It was nice to hear in a world where politeness was so very rare. She nodded, agree with his sentiment. This place was most certainly a good fit.

"Hey, c'mon! Sit over here with us." Said Joey suddenly. Olivia looked at him with a start, having forgotten about his presence for a moment. He was sitting at a near table with a few other guys. Two seats next to him were empty. Olivia threw a smile Saya's way and walked over.
