Two days ago we were flooding and having off and on showers.

Same here. The area around where I used to live at supposedly got so bad that bridges broke and mud destroyed property.

Well... We had a double flood? xD;

My step-dad said when he was driving home, the streets were flooded on both sides of the freeway. ( We live right next to an overpass, but, funny thing is, every opening of that overpass except one has been closed and filled because of past happenings in the neighborhood. Where he said it was flooded was not where the overpass opening (from under) was. xD; )

That sounds similar to an area around the freeway I traveled through two days ago. They kept one lane open, one for each direction of the freeway, but the middle area had to be closed off because there's this small slope. They were building wooden fences/barriers to prevent the mud from coming down the slopes.

I think it would have been scary to be on the overpass when/if it collapses Dx

Oh man, the flood wasn't up to the freeway at least. D: (That would be scary!)
(Our floods consist of ankle-deep (to maybe lower-mid calf) water that covers large areas.)

I could see the overpass sinking though. Apparently my streets like sinking. >_>;
(But that could be because the city is too lazy to keep water pipes new and strong.

D8! I've never walked through ankle deep puddles, but I've seen them. I try to avoid walking in them. Calf deep...I have never seen.

That's dangerous, especially for the gas pipes. I think several months ago, one of the gas pipes broke and a few days later it exploded and engulfed the area in flames. I think that was somewhere in Los Angeles..*forgot*

Lower mid calf! I haven't been in-- Well, no, I take it back...
IN CALIFORNIA I have never been in calf deep water. Lower-mid calf is like... just a little higher than ankle, in my opinion. I think the only reason it gets like that though is because we have dips in our streets. Intersections especially, the corners dip a lot, so trying to cross the street is a pain. =_=;

(Edit; Now thinking about it, I think I've only seen water get as high as ankle deep in Cali.

I blame it on a poor drainage system. People think it's not going to be a big deal, and then suddenly this huge storm comes by and the drains get clogged with garbage.

I don't watch news on tv xD. I read what's on the net, once every few weeks.

it's been raining a lot here, but the only flood dangers we have are rivers because we are already prepared for an overabundance of rain. and we're usually good at getting all the rivers well sandbagged before anything bad happens, too.

I walked through an ankle-deep puddle at school because I was already soaked completely from rain and it wouldn't have made a difference. but this was ankle-deep in 3-inch heels. D:
