I am actually to be 17 in few weeks, too, haven't had real relationships and haven't even held hands with someone, not even talking about kissing. XD So, yup, you're totally not alone. x3 Only I am not wanting to get in relationships any time soon. XD; But I understand everyone is different, so I wish you luck finding good, loving boyfriend who you will be happy with. <3 I am sure it will happen. ^^

I would actually love to be in a relationship, just to know what it's like.

I mean, the adage is "To have loved and lost is better than to have never loved at all," so.. you know, I don't want to die never having loved anyone romantically. I think that's probably worse than having my heart broken a thousand times.

I actually doubt that, Plushie. XD Besides, it depends on what you think of love as.
If you think of it as caring for someone and someone caring for you back, being happy with them, then I am sure you will find them... If you mean mythical butterflies in stomach and pink glasses... Well, that actually often is the root of many problems. When they fall off, the person often turns out to be completely different.

Even if I did fall in the "omg, first look love", I would probably put a hold on my self and think things over many times and try to get to know them for real, not just follow my instincts and maybe in general never get together with them.
In general, I strongly doubt I will fall in that kind of love. Of course, the irony of life might happen and I might do it, even with my skeptical nature, but... -shrugs-
I might find a person I am attracted to, though, and have the other, more down-to-earth love (that the butterfly love should evolve into, anyways).
I really do think you need to know a person very well to love them.

I mean actual, "I could see myself spending the rest of my life with this person," love. Even if it turns out I can't spend the rest of my life with that person and we break up, I just want to have that feeling.

And really, I've kind of reached the point where I doubt I'm ever going to be in love. There are stages to relationships. You have to have the young puppy-love, the fling, and then the true love. It's why kids start "dating" when they're like, twelve. I don't think people ever skip straight to "true love" without going through the lesser, crush-type stuff. Am I going to marry the guy who I have my first kiss with? If I want to get married before I'm fifty, I'd probably have to.

At least you don't think that caring some and worrying about them, possibly in one word - liking - someone is already loving them. x3 It's kinda sad standart of some people of America. I have never had any stage of real love and like I said, I doubt I would reach them any time soon, so I am not really worrying, though, I know some people think it's normal to have so called crushes since kinder garden. XD

I don't think marrying the person you first kiss is actually that bad, lol. XD And you're just going to turn 21. I think normal age for a woman to marry is 25, anyways, so I think you have plenty of time to fall in love, break up x 7, though, I honestly hope you won't have to do it so many times. XD

This talk makes me want to make a thread called "would you want to stay together with the first person you love or change your partners to gain some experience". XD

Well, my parents always sort of tsk, tsk at people who marry their "high school sweethearts". They say that there would be no way for "kids" right out of high school to sort of, play the field and explore if what they were feeling was real love.

So I just guess the idea that you have to have multiple relationships before you can say you've found "the one" has been subliminally implanted into my mind through what they say. And with that mindset, the older I get, I think, the older I'll be before I can find "real" love because I'd have to spend all that time on guys for experience's sake.

I kind of agree with them. It is hard to figure what you can give the other person and what you want from your partner when you're still basically a kid (and 18-22 is still that, often, especially for guys (not saying always, of course). However, I don't think that those possible relationships one could have before they settle down for real, should be "real", as in with sex, living together and everything. Besides, you can grow up and figure those things without having relationships, too.
