I tried to use linux once, but it lost me, so I never tried again. Didn't seem like the UI was very... well User Friendly as i like to call it, but to each their own really

The differences between Vista and 7 are small, but they're there. For example, Vista has many more bugs and uses alot more of your ram. They also streamlined alot of the Windows7 features.

Well, it's not fair to judge Linux like that. Linux is just the basic operating system. It's not the complete experience like Windows or Mac is. There are literally dozens of different graphical environments available -- GNOME and KDE are of course the big names (if you tried one and didn't like it, try the other) but there are a lot of others (I personally use Fluxbox, and Enlightenment was really nice when I was playing with it). Each distribution feels a little different, unlike with a Mac where every Mac has the same basic feel to it.

True, and I would have tried more, but I realized that there would also be compatibility issues with alot of the software, so I decided to just put up with Window's flaws until I can afford a Mac

I honestly tried several. Ubuntu was the easiest. But I was really getting tired of running wine to intall a game and was just kind of annoying. And running a game through wine ended up making the game run slow.

And...I dunno. It just wasn't for me. Nothing against the OS in general, I think it's fantastic, but for me it's kind of like people that have tried to make me switch over from photoshop to GIMP. No thanks. It doesn't work right for me.

Every CS major I've known has been at home with linux. It's got some really cool tools and I love how it has a list thing that links me directly to downloads of popular programs that I'd use. makes it easy. There are things that I loved about it.

But I still hate windows for the most part. And I've become very well at home with mac. I guess I'm the stereotyped web designer using a mac XD

I never said Linux was for everyone, either. The problem isn't so much with the OS itself, though, as it is the fact that a lot of the major equivalents just can't measure up to the first-party solutions. GIMP is crap compared to Photoshop. (Inkscape is REALLY good, though, can almost measure up to Illustrator.)

I just wish non-Windows operating systems could take advantage of DirectX graphics card features. OpenGL is BEAUTIFUL for precision 3D rendering but not ideal for games.

Well if Mac continues on it's popularity increase, we'll see more software made natively for it, which means it'll be even better =]

Aww I really like gimp xD I can't afford photoshop anyway, and I don't want to download it either. It runs like shit on my computer, and I have a GOOD computer. Gimp can do almost anything photoshop does, and at least everything I need it to do it can. So I'm happy with it.

I found WINE kinda annoying at first, but I got used to it really.

GIMP's great for doing the things GIMP is good at, especially if you're running it on Linux. (Performance is iffy on Windows and it's INCREDIBLY annoying to use on Mac.) It's mostly a fail if you're coming at it from Photoshop because the usage patterns don't really line up and a lot of the features are missing.

I'm happy with it as long as it can do what I want it too. I had trouble getting used to Krita, so I rarely use it.

Windows 7.
I love my PC's. Although I hated Vista with a passion so I always just installed XP instead. (My dad has a legal copy/key due to his work)

I'm currently running Windows Vista, but I'll be upgrading to Windows 7 soon. Vista annoys me greatly...
