Those were posting rewards. They're released alongside the event, but you will also still be able to earn them later on after the event is over.

My birthstone is the sapphire, though I'm jealous of the May birthstone being an Emerald. At least jade comes in nearly the whole rainbow.

I don't really get birthstones. If I were to buy a beloved one some jewelry, I'd go for whatever precious stone they like best.
