Ah, that sucks. I know my sister lives in an area now that is like that. Even just a dusting of snow and the whole city shuts down.
It snows a lot where I live though, so snow isn't really a big deal to me. XD

I grew up in Kansas. Heavy storms and snow are no big deal to me.

When I moved to Los Angeles, it rained so infrequently that anything more than a drizzle got drivers acting crazy.

Its the type of snow to a large degree. I used to live further north and we always got a few feet, so the city was well equipped to deal with it. Here, not so much. People just don't know what to do. For example, using dirt or sand (or kitty litter) for ice traction if there's no road salt, or if it's too cold for salt to be effective. The snow here is also so heavy and wet that trees and power lines are more likely to come down and create more hazards.

We're used to rain here, not snow.


On a Pokemon note, I've never seen a Spheal before but it's awesome and I love it!

I got a couple Torchics as well, and a couple new gyms. Was tired though, so no running back to the dying Gym again (three nearly dead pokemon this time) to go get it. I think I need maybe 9 coins for my sweater.

I think I might use a lucky egg when I finally have enough candy to evolve my Growlithe (7 candies to go! Poor Mighty has walked 53 km with me). It's rare that I can get a 7 day streak so I might just evo the pokemon I've saved for the purpose and forget the streak.

So...thanks to sub-zero temperatures and Christmas break, I have had my Snorlax on a gym for 7 days, 7 hours and counting...

I finally got my first gold badge on a gym ^_^ I'm a long way off from getting another but it's a start ^_^ I've also been catching Pokemon as much as possible over the holidays and I've managed to evolve all of the 3 newest starter Pokemon fully as of last night ^_^ I think I've not got many more left to get outside of a few raid only Pokemon now ^_^

Damn, how are there that many starters near you? Lucky! I have evolved Torchic ro er....Combuskin (sp?) but that's it. Have fully evolved Sealeo though.

I've hardly evolved anybody but I have enough for Linoon (lots of those around. I wonder if it has to do with the local raccoon population).

Took the ferry the other day. Amuses me to see what I pull out of the water. I picked up an Electrode from one of the local islands. Never seen a Voltorb before but got that thing. Apparently, Skitties like to swim, too.

And I got a pikachu with a hat! Was worried a little because I got a phone call when it was on screen and I wasn't sure if it would still be there when I was done. Took a couple tries. Still haven't made a Raichu yet but I evolved a Pichu and I'm still short ten candies. Not sure which Raichu I want.


So, question: I have two ghastlies. One has the haunter image because I've evolved one before, but the other's haunter image is greyed out. That one I caught during the Halloween event. Is there something ticky about those ones?

We had gone into town and the local shopping centre where there are loads of Pokestops to hunt for Pokemon over Christmas, plus we have around 10 spawn points around our house because there are 2 of us that play a lot here so every time they've increased the spawn points we've get more ^_^;; Although most of the Pokemon that show up are the same few... ^_^;;

@Quiet : The difference between the Haunters will be because of gender. If you've evolved one previously it'll be one gender and the greyed out one will be the other gender. ^_^

My Vaporeon Opus is still at the gym I dropped him off at yesterday afternoon, over by the city library. My campus Jolteon good booted pretty quick but I think I'll have enough coins for my sweater. :)

I'm going to go through my craft stuff in the next couple days or so. I see the spheals and am debating if I want to go pick up some wooden balls and make a spheal ornament for the tree next year. The thing reminds me of those silly balloon animal skits. I have two dog toys that resemble those as well.

I finally started playing... and it turns out there're three gyms in my hometown, which surprises me. since today was nice (45 for the high! and it's supposed to be even warmer tomorrow and Wednesday!), I decided to pay the gyms a visit. I managed to take down two of the gyms, but couldn't find parking to get the third. I'll try again tomorrow.
