gimp is a great free alternative to photoshop though. i can't use it cause i'm too stupid and stubborn to learn something new xD i learned graphic design with photoshop, so i'm most familiar with that, but i know quite a few artists that are waaaaaaaaaaaay better than me that use gimp.

I haven't actually tried Gimp because Krita did almost everything I needed and expected. I did eventually have to change programs though, since I need text XD

I started learning in PS myself, so gimp leaves a bit to be desired for me. It's been there for me for a good 5 or 6 years but still T.T
As for pursuing career wise thats a yes-no, because I will still have my day job but do have people attempting to commision that I have been declining. I just don't want to come up with something they don't want when they have a different view in their mind? I much rather enjoy having people go "Hey I like this. Color it and sell me the design?"
