I wish I had a mask | #1 | |
Not a plain mask, but one that changes facial expressions, and when talking not only does the mouth not move, but it doesn't sound like my voice is obscured. Something like Hexadecimal's mask from Reboot. The viewer never sees her mask change facial expressions when looking at her face, but as soon as she waves a hand in front of it, or something block's the viewer's view of her face, her facial expression changes. Here is an examples. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x928KTgnXUw
I 10/10 love her. ![]() ![]() Quote:

Hexadecimal was certainly a cool lady-thing.
I'm sure somebody could invent some really fancy masks, given the resources. ![]() ![]() | ||||

Yes. She was my favourite... she's also a virus.
I'm not sure it would be entirely possible... maybe in the future when we're no longer alive... who knows. ![]() ![]() Quote:

Well, perhaps not quite as cleanly as Hexadecimal's mask, but things along that line should be quite doable. A mask that morphs, etc.

Maybe they could have the mask be attached to the face that can sense how you're feeling with all it's gadgets and wires and what not. Only problem is that that it would be a hassle to get it on and off that way because of the needles and stuff. The morphable, someone had made a fursuit head where you can adjust the eyebrows to look angry or happy.

Maybe you could have a mask that was a hologram. That'd be flexible, it wouldn't obscure your voice, but there'd have to be some sensor for your emotions like you said or just the actual movements of your facial muscles.

Or maybe a giant screen on your face and a mic, with two tiny eye holes to see out of. And you'd carry a hidden remote to control what the giant screen would show. You'd speak into the mic behind the mask and the voice would come out through a speaker you keep hidden. And maybe then you can make the speaker filter your voice or something so it sounds different. Maybe that'll have a hidden remote too.

The sensors could be in your shoulders. Plenty of people act expressive with their shoulders when they emote, so all you'd have to do is make sure that normal walking motions don't trigger it, and it would come off pretty naturally.
Of course, even easier than that would be eyebrows and ears. It would feel very natural, because smiling pushes back on the ears a little bit already, and eyebrows would just map directly. Games by Coda (updated 4/8/2025 - New game: Marianas Miner)

Huh, that would need a bit of practice because I don't use my shoulders to express emotions.
How would I even get the eyebrows to move? ![]() ![]() Quote:

No, I meant, tracking the movement of your ears and eyebrows as a form of input to control the mask. I have no idea how you'd actually construct the thing.
