I sounded like a freak when I was a kid when I tried recording myself. I hate how my voice seems different on recordings or the phone. Ugh. I hope you can get that stuff fixed DK.

One quick way to sound proof is to throw up thick blankets on a frame around you. (Or, in a pinch, over your head and computer.) It doesn't have to be the entire room, just close enough to block off what the mic might pick up.

And if you have a closet big enough to put your recording stuff in, that's a good place to soundproof.

though I like the sound of the blanket thing over my head... I wonder if I can make a thing in my room and put the blankets up over me. like a mini room inside the bed room O-O WOULD THAT WORK?! HOW WOULD I DO THAT GYAA i need to think more! THANKS FOR THE IDEAS LEE! -huggles- how thick would the blankets need to be? =o comforter thick?

Well the point is absorbing sound. Things made to absorb other things often work as great soundproofing, too. You could put up styrofoam packing blocks, those are ridiculously cheap. Or stack up boxes in a frame and use thick blankets. Comforters are indeed a good choice, but the stuffing often comes loose. If you can find a quilt, that's a better call.

Worst case scenario: Bury yourself and your mic in clothes just for the recording, then edit it in a more comfortable location.
