The items over there used to have a set color combo like here --- and so whenever I try to put something on I try to make it go back to the original combos that I liked >3>

ultimately though I just get frustrated because you have to remake your dye for every single item and I hate that.

i didn't mind the ernya system though i wish the souls would have been gold and bought currency instead of just bought.

It took me a while to figure out that you could dye everything over there. I prefer that better. That way I don't have to buy 10 of the same item to get a different color. I could just dye my own as I saw fit. I had never been on a site that did that.

@Toho is that the Syn dye system a real difficult thing to do on a avi site. Not that I am suggesting it here or anything I just always wonder about the different elements in avi sites.

I know a dye system would make a whole lotta work for the artists >_< that's why most places have it limited or slowly release updates on it.

Yes I would imagine it would be a lot of work, I'm just surprised that a site that has had as much trouble as Syn managed it. Maybe it was done when it was called Terrasus?

I don't remember what it use to be called. I know I stumbled on Syn back in the day and then they went down for a while. Who knows.. Not much to be done about ti now though.

Nope not really, I'm mostly here now, even if they went back up I would find it hard to go back. I still log in every few days to talk to a friend over there. I've asked her to join here, but she says she's kinda done with avi sites.

@ Glitch: you are so nice, I have a friend in Syn that just won't come over here. I was going to get her a set of the event items, but she doesnt want to be here, or any avi site. She says if Syn shuts down she is done with avi sites.

I talked to this member on Ernya in September of 2011, he just disappeared, I logged on to Caedon this past week and found him there! We started chatting a bit when he came over here (he had an account) but he is mainly on Caedon.

Well, yes and no.

The way we do common items (bazillion color variations) works in essentially the same way as the Syn dyes. Main difference being that we don't typically recolor all layers of it, which is an advantage in my opinion. All layers of Syn items are dyable in the collectible items, which is neat but also limiting. Someone (cho, I think) gave me an item that has a whole background scene on it, but it is limited in what it looks like due to it all being one or two colors at a time.

We go with a more curated approach for colors, because it makes it easier to set up things that match. Neither approach is inherently better, really, but they are not compatible.

sometimes, colors are better left to people that know how to handle them, haha.

from an artist point of view, there can be additional complications in making every single item ever perfectly compatible with all of the color options, especially in highly detailed ones. and, without a dye system in place, it's nice to know we don't have to worry about designing items with a max of like 3 colors or some nonsense. some of our premium items can have really complicated color schemes, and y'know, a lot of people like complicated stuff.
