"I hope that is an exaggeration, but at this point I really don't know. This assassin..." He shakes his head. "I don't know. My best guess, we broke something important to them. If someone starts aiming for me, then we'll know a bit more."

[Gallagher]

"From what I know about her, I'd guess it was a closer thing than she's letting on." Gamby glanced towards the bedroom door which, thankfully, was still firmly shut. "She might be, ah, touchy around us... or me... whatever. But this situation seems to have really rattled her. She'd probably appreciate having someone around to watch her back for a while."

[Quiet Man Cometh]

Syrgei shrugs. "She asked for help. I think that's answer in itself."

[Gallagher]

"True. Asked you, no less. Since when do the two of you get along?"

[Quiet Man Cometh]

"Getting along' might be a bit of a stretch. I think I've been eye to barrel with at least one of her pistols about half a dozen times since yesterday, but it's just that. She asked. We aren't total strangers, and if she needs the help..."

[Gallagher]

"Yeah, yeah. I remember plenty about your bleeding heart." Not that Gambooge himself was too much different. He was just better at not fighting about things that were already done... most of the time. Or some of the time. Once in a while. "Honestly, I think that's just how she flirts at this point."

[Quiet Man Cometh]

"I...what?"

[Gallagher]

"Think about it. She's obviously got a heart in there somewhere, cold and dead and salty as it might be. And as you should well know, everyone with a heart has some not completely negative or murder related emotion creep out eventually. Can you see her reacting any other way to something like that?"

"It's...not something I've thought a lot about. I guess it doesn't matter, as long as she doesn't pull the trigger one of these days."

[Gallagher]

"Well. For what it's worth, I think I'd be the first to go if she's been listening."

[Quiet Man Cometh]

"I'm not sure if that's reassuring or not, but you have curious sort of optimism."

[Gallagher]

"Is that what you call it? Optimism?"

Syrgei shrugs, again. “From the point of view of the second person to get shot, yes.”

He stifles a sudden yawn. “Must be getting late. Will that Golem of yours keep watch or should we work something out? I can head home for the night or stay here, doesn't matter much to me.”

[Gallagher]

"He won't stay there unless someone comes to bother him every... hm... thirty-seven minutes, give or take. Which is fine. But I, personally, as a good friend of yours, would really appreciate the company."

[Quiet Man Cometh]

Syrgei laughs slightly, which is more movement than sound. "Point taken. I believe I still owe you a drink at some point, too."

Gamby shrugged, then nodded, his hands clasped over his knee. "Probably. I'd hope that after the day I've had, you'd make it three."
