It was a long twenty years, or some other unbearable amount of time, before Gambooge was finally finished cleaning up inside the mesmer's house. Which, of course, just left the lumbering lummox keeping guard outside. And unfortunately for him, Bag was much less likely to cooperate than an overpriced rug.

Really, it was just his luck that right when he was finished washing the damn thing out, and utterly soaked from head to toe to the point that his shoes squeaked when he moved, right then was when Syrgei would decide to come strolling on back. Not when he might have been able to help. Not when Gamby had recovered from this entire ordeal and managed to get himself looking less ridiculous. Nope. Nothing convenient like either of those.

"She's still inside," he called to the approaching thief, decidedly not pouting as he refused to look the man's way. "How'd your little field-trip go?"

“About as could be expected” Syrgei responds to the mage as he walks up to the house. He leans with his back to the wall next to the door. “Of course there isn't much to talk about without going into detail and potentially having the Seraph take a closer look at her than she would probably like.” He crosses his arms and eyes the ground as though he might find his thoughts down there. “I honestly don't know where we go from here. Do we just wait or...oh.”

Looking at Gambooge directly, Syrgei just now notices the elementalist's sodden clothes and slightly 'worked' appearance, and the fact that it might be something of an annoyance to him.

“Do you need to get a change of clothes? I can watch things here.”

It didn't miss his notice just how long it took Syrgei to notice his distress. If he were a better, kinder person, he might have just ignored it. But instead, he arched a dark brow, shifted his weight to one side, and set his hand on his hip. "No wonder you're so good at what you do, having keen eyes like that and all. Really, it would be a waste putting skills like that on the neighborhood watch."

Desolation Denizen
Thoroughly cleaned, oiled, perfumed, and equipped with fuzzy pajamas and comfy striped socks, Tsaerri lies nestled in a cocoon of silk blankets and fluffy pillows. A fresh blindfold and a pair of pink earmuffs insulate her from the outside world as the chemicals lingering in her body drag her quickly off to sleep. Maybe it isn't so bad to have a guy around the house after all, she can just sleep and pamper herself all day while he does all the work. Hell, she has money, she can just hire Gambooge as her butler probably. What, is he going to refuse? “Oh, ya, Tsae, I'd like, totally love to get paid for shacking up with the cutest girl in Kryta, but I've got... Gamboogey things to do. Like getting immiserated by a little rat-terrier bitch two continents away on a daily basis. But are you sure, Tsae? That sounds like something you would say, not me. Plus, you'd probably just shoot me if we moved in together anyway!”

He has a point. She probably would.

Tsae's very soundly asleep by now.

Cold silence has a tendency
to atrophy any sense of compassion
between supposed lovers.
Between supposed brothers.

Syrgei sighs, pulling off his glasses and rubbing his forehead, still leaning against the wall. This is enough snark for one day.

He steps away from the wall, "do what you need to do. If you don't need me for anything, I'll be inside."

"Great. Go on ahead," he replied with a vague wave of his hand. "But she's probably out cold, and I doubt she'd appreciate you messing with her things. Just so you know."

“I don't plan to.”

Entering the home, Syrgei quietly closes the door, taking Gambooge's word that Tsaerri would be asleep, seemingly confirmed by the lack of noise inside the house. Leaving his boots by the door -after a bit of well-practiced work to get them off- as a courtesy, Syrgei sits in one of the chairs by a table and shrugs his coat over the back of it, removing the extra weight from his shoulders, then leans his elbows on the table and attempts to work out just what has been going on for the past couple of days.

When Gambooge headed back inside some time later, looking much less like a murderous wet cat than he had been, he found Syrgei sitting at the table. The man looked deep in thought, which was ridiculous considering the mechanical mess standing outside of one door, the probably drunken and passed out mess sleeping through the other door, and the perfectly comfortable chair he'd claimed for himself. "So?"

Syrgei looks up at Gambooge. “So...” He pulls one arm off the table and leans on the other.

"So." With probably a touch more grace than any man as gangly as him should have had, the elementalist stepped right over to the table and sat himself up on top of it, his legs crossed and one hand planted on the surface that made him lean close to the thief. "Tell me about your little adventure."

Still slouching on the table, Syrgei directs his eyes upward to the seated elementalist's face, and raises an eyebrow.

“How about a little game? A young man, at the request of a friend, goes investigating a place where he shouldn't be. While there, he sees a young woman doing things she shouldn't be doing. Now imagine that from the time these two see each other to the time they part ways there is a trail of several corpses from an unknown, unfriendly goup, broken architecture, machinery that used to be functional, and one -possibly more- angry cultists.”

Syrgei waves his hand slightly as he gestures through the list.

“Now, tell me what happened in between?'

For a moment, Gambooge just hummed in mock thought. Then, he grinned. "A good time, I imagine."

Syrgei looks at Gambooge for a few more seconds.

"I'll let you know, I'm still working that out."

"Well. I guess that'll have to do. I gotta say, though, I did sort of mean your adventure just now. While I was working my fingers to the bone and all. But that other one sounds much more interesting."

"Ah, that. Well, they would be related, as while I'm sure the Seraph can help," Syrgei knots his fingers and rest his chin on them, "especially if it relates to the safety of the Crown, I think they would be a little alarmed if certain activities" he points with one finger towards the closed bedroom door "were to come up."

He sits flush against the back off the chair. "So...assuming it's not going to be just us trying to figure this out, who do we tell and what do we tell them?"

"The safety of the crown?" he repeated, straightening up where he sat. "I feel like I'm missing part of the story here. Bit hard to make judgement calls when all I know is that our dear friend was nearly killed... And that apparently the two of you broke a lot of things in one day."
