Genes are permanent and will show once placed on a dragon. You can change the gene (re-gene) later if you don't like it but the scroll used to give the dragon its gene is gone for ever.
genes are handed down through the generations as well. =) Scrying Workship > Morphology is where you go to see if you like what gene on which dragon. | ||||

That's how I felt XD
All of a sudden my trade was declined and I went to check their profile and they announced they were selling all their dragons and quitting! Poor dragon almost had a home XD I don't feel like selling him but want someone to enjoy him vs exalt him immediately. I'm reminded of times I started out happily on some game, and then the other players found me, and I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Haven't had that experience on FR, though. Mind you, I also haven't been in the forums.
