I just found out that SciFi is bring out a new realty show called: Heroes of Cosplay. And I thought cool something worth watching but when I saw what it was I was upset they are intrusted of thin cosplayers not plus size at all. I knew it, why is it that every realty show out there they want someone who is thin and handsome and not who they are?
God this is so (yells and screams) this is unfair SciFi why couldn't you do something that is way cool and not rune it? There are way better cosplayers out there and some of them are plus size. I don't know what you guys were thinking that Plus Size Cosplayers are what you say runeing their so called favorite charters. This is so unfair, what about you guys are you upset about this?

Is there actual documentation that some really talented plus-sized cosplayers were rejected over less-talented thin ones, or are people just making assumptions? I don't get why people are throwing hissy fits over this, really.

So I watched it.... yeah I don't like it, but that is because I cosplay and some of their comments were rude. A few comments I understand, that most people that cosplay need to be aware of their bodies and that several rude things will be said about them, if they are cosplaying a costume that reflects badly on their body type. I don't cosplay anything that I am not comfortable with, but the online community can be horrible.

All in all, it is about a group of cosplayers that are in the competitive world. Some are vets others aren't, the fabrication isn't a huge amount of it but if you follow certain people it is a good way to catch up on them. I think the fuss over plus sized cosplayers is because of WHO they feature not who they don't feature. The people that they are featuring aren't even some of the best but they focus on them like they are. I personally know better cosplayers, but it is also that you have to be willing to let them follow you around weeks before con for footage.

Yeah, I WAS excited for this show, then I watched it. Most of them are pretentious, obsessed jerks, who take shit WAY too seriously. Both my sister and I just kinda sat there and laughed because.. Cosplay is meant to be fun. And.. I don't know. They take it wayyyy too far.

Being its a competition, I should of seen it coming. The only remotely interesting thing about it is the nostalgia I get when I see older characters cosplayed, like Lydia from beetle juice.

I believe they had an actual conversation on body types in terms of cosplaying if in competition. Even the most revered cosplayer yaya said that they have to look like the character.

Overall I just like to look at the costumes. The only people I like to watch on the show are holly and jessica because they seem to be the less rude more fun "team" xD

I hear a LOT of horror stories from people who attend the Cons they film at.
I recall reading a post by a group of Dr.Who cosplayers who just generally had a bad time with it.
hey don't respect the locals at the cons at all, also a person recalled one of them saying "I spent 2000 of my OWN cash to get here." when most of the con goes don't even HAVE THAT MUCH.

this show is just bad.

Honestly, I feel the show doesn't really show "real" cosplayers. Normal people that don't have a job from it, or go just to enjoy all the other costumes.
The closest feeling I got to that from the show was the crab-cat girls. (Holly and Jessica)
But I watch it to see the new outfits. ^^;
Plus I love Faceoff and that plays right before it.

I like seeing screencaps of nice cosplays from it, like when you see a nice cosptume in the crowd or if they talktno one, like the Mindfang they talked to a bit ago, I liked that Mindfang. Only redeemable quality the show has.

I've only seen too episodes, but I don't really like it. I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way. Something about the whole thing annoyed me. They took cosplay way too seriously and sucked the fun out of it.
