Ah! Your inclusion of the Caduceus in your avatar implies considerable familiarity with Roman Mythology. Though it is often erroneously associated with medical professions, the staff with two snakes is in reality associated with Hermes. One might think it ironic that hospitals use as their emblem a symbol associated with the god responsible for escorting the souls of the deceased to the underworld. It's modern use stems from its confusion with the Rod of Asclepius, a staff with only one snake wrapped around it.

Now that I've sufficiently delivered my unsolicited treatise on the history of staves with snakes wrapped around them, I congratulate you on your avatar. It looks quite cool, and accurate to boot.
