The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim | #1
Does anyone know or play this game? I specifically play it on the Xbox 360, but I haven't played it in almost half a year... it's extremely fun, but for certain reasons (reasons that don't have anything to do with the games playability or appeal or anything like that), I haven't gone near it.
However, I really want to buy the DLC for it (Hearthfire and Dawnguard) because they look pretty amazing. If you do play Skyrim, what sort of character(s) do you have (race and play style), and what's their level? I think my most played character is my level 50-something Argonian named Slythzerkian, and I mostly play as an archer assassin-type character that on occasion resorts to blades and swords. The moment I played Skyrim, it honestly blew me away with how much they improved upon it since The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. ![]()

If you're up for massive reading, there's a rather large thread already on Skyrim back on page 5. It would need to be resurrected but so long as something new is being added it should be alright to post in it again. There's a thread discussing Dawnguard on page 2 I believe. I want to get Dawnguard but haven't bothered yet since I haven't been playing Skyrim.
Right now my only Skyrim character is my Nord Frygga Elksdottr, if I have that right. Not sure. I've played Elder Scrolls games since Daggerfall but skipped a couple. In Daggerfall I had a khajit who I tried to replicate in Morrowind that became my archer thief type called Mirri. I have a second Khajit in Morrowind called Nigira who is the proper thief class rather than custom made like I usually do. I also have an Argonian character, She-Speaks-In-Riddles, and then another nord and a dunmer. I mainly stick with the beast races but I didn't like them as much in Skyrim so I went Nord. Frygga is much more of a straight up fighter than my other characters have been. I want to make an Imperial to play around with for the other storyline, but Skyrim won't let me layer a robe and armour like I want to! Ruins my character concept! *gripe* My khajits both specialize in short blade but Mirri, my highest level character, can probably kill almost anything with almost anything. My Argonian uses spear because I wanted something different. In Skyrim I use light armour and two axes for my Nord, with the blacksmithing, alchemy, light armour, and axes skill trees. I've debated restoration but I seem to do well enough in it without the perks, and have stuck with only the four trees. I do use a bow a lot too. My typical fight style is to use a bow to kill enemies that I can see that I can't get too, or to soften tough enemies before charging in with both axes. I also carry around components to make healing potions and the occasional alchemy table has come in darn handy when dungeon exploring. Oh, and I play on PC. To date I haven't managed to finish any Elder Scrolls games. I find them too much fun to play. One of these days I will get around to doing the actual quest lines. Really.

I want to play Dawnguard... But I have Skyrim for the PS3 D<
And the Dragonborn DLC is like a huge kick in the face to PS3 owners. But nonetheless I'm excited to watch the new DLC on youtube when it releases in December. I just started playing Oblivion again 3 days ago actually (Mainly because I don't want to start playing Skyrim and get more angry about not having any DLC yet.), I was level grinding sneak to 100 last night. ![]()

Don't have any of the DLC yet. Will think about it when I get around to playing Skyrim again. Getting tempted though.
I did the sneak think with my Morrowind character. Not to 100 mind you, but just to improve it a little bit since it's an annoying stat to improve. Parked my character between a rock and a tree behind some miners, put her on "auto walk," left my stapler on the "sneak" button and went off to do laundry.

Like a custom house as opposed to the one you get as part of the game?

I'm not really up for a huge read right now, but I'll probably look it up later. I've also never played Dawnguard, so I don't really have any initiative to post in that particular thread (though the addition of werewolf perks and vampire lords is pretty frickin' awesome).
I've actually never played any of the previous Elder Scrolls games besides Oblivion, which I absolutely fell in love with in 2006; I think it was the very first game I ever got on the 360, among a few other starter games. The scenery, interactivity, replay value, among so many other things was perfect to me. Before Oblivion, I had never played a game so free and beautiful, it just kind of entranced me. Also, I never even got to finishing the main quest of the game for literally a year. I was just screwing around with all of the different side quests and guild quests and oh, my God. xD I pretty much always play as an Argonian because I'm just in love with that race so much; loved it when I first started playing Oblivion. I usually just give my Argonians a black and blood red-type of look, and they're almost always archer-assassins because I just love being able to kill practically everything I come into contact with in one hit. I sometimes play as a Khajiit, but not too much because... I dunno. I'm just an Argonian-lover. ;w; However, just because of Skyrim's new dual-wielding system, I made a High Elf who's fluent in the entire mage skill tree... his skills are fucking POWERFUL, my God. I never expected to throw around so much rape with fireballs and ice spikes before until I made that character, lmao. I haven't played in a few months still, but I really want to go back to it, now. Maybe... maybe. I've also fallen in love with the Daedric armor set. I've gotten my Argonian character all Daedric, and I believe I've made him a set of full Daedric everything, including all weapons and bows and what have you. I've also completely maxed out his Sneak perks (Sneak always seems to be the skill tree that I max out first in both Elder games) and Archery perks, as well as maybe one or two others... I've actually killed an Elder Dragon with a single Daedric dagger strike from behind. Felt pretty epic. I've also gotten Shadowmere (<3) from the Dark Brotherhood questline, but he died somewhere shortly after we fought a Blood Dragon together... haven't seen him since. ;~; I miss 'mere, he's my favorite horse ever. EDIT: inb4 tl;dr Also, I believe in Hearthfire, you can just buy one of multiple different plots of land and just buy expansions and everything for your house, from weapon racks to fireplaces to beds to alchemy and enchanting sets. You can also buy all the plots of land, I believe, not just one, so you can be just like Mitt Romney with his thousand houses. ![]()

Oh, I wanted to reply to this, too, but I guess I forgot in the wall post that was my reply. ^^;
Really? ^w^ We should play it simultaneously together, it'd be so fun, at least for me... does it seem like a game you'd be genuinely interested in? ;A; ![]()

Oblivion apparently has more appearance options to the point of it being ridiculous I've heard. Previous games are much shorter on options. In Morrowind for the beast races you get to pick face and ears I think, and that's more or less it.
I like playing my argonian early game since I would go pearl diving with the water breathing skill. I'm not very good with my spear yet since I'm use to short blades but I'm getting there. I like khajit just because I like anthro pretty much, and they have skills that I generally use. I've played Skyrim simultaneously with my friend via running commentary on MSN. Was pretty fun really. :). I've heard of Shadowmere but I'm not doing that line of quests with Frygga. I'm not sure you'll get her back though as once your horse is dead, I'm pretty sure it stays dead. I reload every time my horse had died, which usually involves a dragon going after it, or my horse going on a rampage and getting itself killed before I can catch up. Silly horse.

Really? Oblivion, to me, never really seemed like it had a ton of different options for character creation. I mean, you can design practically every part of the face as well as its color... maybe I'm just bad at facial construction, but they always generally seemed to come out just a slightly altered version of the default facial appearance. Skyrim, on the other hand, seemed like it had just a huge array of possibilities, and your character can actually look vastly different from the default faces.
That's one of the main reasons I love Argonians... their unique abilities like disease resistance and waterbreathing. I remember the first time I played Oblivion as an Argonian and encountered one of those gas traps in one of the Ayleid caves. It sprung, and I was looking at the smoke, waiting for my health to drain, but it did absolutely nothing, and I was like, "Say wha'?" Only, like, 10,000 years later did I realize that it was because of the Argonian's immunity to poison that it didn't do anything to me. Frickin' love you, Argonians. Yeah, Froggy and I would probably talk via Skype or Xbox or something. ^^; We play a lot of games together, but we've never really played a single-player game simultaneously before (though we almost did when playing Dead Space together). Oh, and apparently, Shadowmere and one other quest horse (I think apart of the Thieves Guild questline) can actually come back to life after death after a certain amount of days. However, they come to life at the place they originally died and stay there, and yeah... when my Shadowmere died, I didn't realize until, like, five sidequests later, LOL. So, I have absolutely no idea where Shadowmere could be... but I know they're out there. ;n; Silly horse, dragon-fighting is for adventurers. ![]()

Someone may have made a "find horse" mod somewhere. You could look that up.
I know there's another fancy horse but I can't remember which quest he comes from. I intend on sticking with Queenie for now. I was annoyed with Khajit's in Skyrim because I wanted to make a relatively furry one, kinda like a snow leopard but the options wouldn't let me. I wanted one that looks something like Ri'saad (my favourite merchant. He hangs out outside of Whiterun at midnight) but it never really worked. Thus, nord.

I started on PC so I say with PC, but it does influence my choice somewhat that I don't *have* a PS3 or an XBOX of any kind.
Daggerfall which is Elder Scrolls II you can download from the Bethesda site. I haven't tried though, and I think you need a DOS emulator to run it. Such things bug me. It's an old game, so the graphics are grainy and the people all look pretty basic. Fight style is still the same, PC-wise anyway. Drag mouse to the side, slash, shove mouse forward, thrust, etc. You can buy a house in whatever city you like, there's a bank, etc, you can buy a boat (no that there's much sailing involved, it just saves you renting one), horse. Your horse doesn't do much. You click it to ride it and the back of the horse's head appears in your field of you and you move faster. Click another button to dismount. The horse essentially lives in your inventory so it doesn't matter where you get on and off the thing, it's there. Highly useful when you go on killing sprees and then need to make a speedy getaway from the guards. Some little things like climbing ladders and using bows were a pain though. Not sure I ever figured out how to do either.
