Default Once friends now lost [M]   #1
Story Background:
Most tales go on about the elves against the humans or another race. Though there is a deep feud that runs in the blood of the different races of elves. Fueled by bloodshed only to cause further, it seems to be the never ending war. The Light elves and the Dark elves. Neighbors sense times long passed, stuck in a everlasting battle to destroy the other. This was not always the case, at one time there were talks of peace. Those talks are long dead now and there seems to be no future left for this once peaceful land. Though this tale begins during one of the more peaceful times of the war, or at least as peaceful as war can be. The two young children that found that one another through a twist of fate... These two could very well lead the two sides to stop the meaningless fighting. If they don't kill one another in the process.

Name: Judith
Age: Twenty-one
Race: Light Elf
Appearance: During the time that she spends on the field she wears the appropriate attire for battle. Her shoulders are covered in armor to protect them from harm, as well as elsewhere on her body like her chest. She wears a pair of boots that have armor, a pair of wrist guards and a armor helm. Other than that she wears a pair of tight black trousers and a fitting white blouse, her hair is put up into a bun to keep from bothering her. When in formal attire Judith wears her hair up into a neat bun and robes with the colors that represent the Capitol. Her hair is an unusual red color and her eyes are as white as snow. Her skin is very fair as if the sun as never once touched it and she is the average height and weight for a female Light Elf her age.
Equipment: Judith always carries a bow with her as well as at least a dozen arrows to protect herself with. Attached to her inner-right thigh is a dagger that she uses as a last resort. She prefers to hunt from afar than to experience close encounters.
Personality: Judith is very kind, generous, selfless and caring. She takes delight in helping others and protecting those that she cares dearly for. Though she is rather naive at times, reckless and too passionate as well.

Character Sheet:
Name: Rhyldrin Velg'larn (commonly known as Rhyl for short)
Race: Dark elf (Drow if you prefer)
Age:25
Equipment: Two swords, two daggers, and belt pouch (holding various odds and ends most being useful in some form or another, like herbs or potions)
Appearance: Slightly built, stands around 6'2 holding true to his kind's coal colored skin. His eyes are a blood red and his hair is silvery white in color and stays in a sort of choppy cut fashion, not being over long but not really being short either.
Wardrobe: Light chain-mail with a black tunic over top of it. Leather wrist guards and shoulder covering over his right shoulder. This is accompanied by a leather strap that holds one of the swords to his back and then a belt that holds the second sword's sheath. His pants are simple in style and tend to be black or another dark color.
Personality: More of the silent type, having only a handful of people he is willing to talk with at any given time. A little cold, pity or mercy are not in his vocabulary. If you cannot take care of yourself then you are seen as being worthless. Very tactical when it comes to killing a target never rushing the process to achieve his goal.

Above birds erupted from the trees that they had perched upon and together they flew upwards towards the sky. Her body became as still as she could make it, if someone were with her they would compare her to a statue. Inside her mind seemed to pause and she held her breath as she listened for her approaching enemy. Below a figure crashed through the bushes then came into view, Judith lowered herself on he branch that she stood upon making herself crouch and she pressed a hand against the branch help to keep herself balanced. Judith observed the Dark Elf that stood below her, he was tall and very built like an ox, his shoulders combined where much larger than she could ever be. It would be a challenge to rid herself of this threat though she knew what the others would say if she were caught allowing him to go free. It would be seen as a weakness, as betraying the King who she had sworn to serve and she knew that she had to remain loyal.

Slowly and carefully, she remained crouched as she removed her bow from her back. Judith then removed her hand from the branch and slowly sat up a bit more, she reached into her quiver and retrieved an arrow. As she pulled the arrow back she noticed the Dark Elf suddenly become still, her chest begun to pound within her flesh as she watched his ears twitched. Had he heard her? Judith's hands shook slightly and unintentionally she released the arrow, the Dark Elf turned as it left her bow and within a quick movement he had caught the arrow with his own hand.

It did not take long for her to begin moving, Judith prepared herself quickly then jumped to the ground below, her bow was placed against the soil along with her quiver. Then as quickly as she possibly could she forced herself to stand then retrieve her dagger from her thigh. Judith held the dagger within her hand though she knew that she appeared awkward with such a weapon, the Dark Elf examined her for a moment and a smile grew on his face then crushed the arrow within his palm. "Dammit..." She muttered under her breath, then he spoke to her it was in a language that she could not understand though it did not take much for her to assume what he was planning to do with her if he successfully captured her. Women being such an uncommon thing to come by during war and all, she knew that she was a prize for any man here. Judith had tried her hardest to appear like a man, her hair was hidden within her helm and she wore armor to cover her chest. Though whenever she spoke it was clear that she was not a man.

The Dark Elf seemed to be taking his time, he moved his head from side to side causing an unflattering cracking noise then he retrieved his own weapon from his side. Judith's eyes left him for a moment to examine the weapon, it was a blade that she knew could easily do quite some harm. The blade itself was jagged, she had seen other men carry such weapons and knew the sort of damage that they could cause. If he managed to drive it through her flesh then there was little chance that she could survive, hell there was no chance she could survive! Judith wondered how she would manage to pry such a weapon from his hands and as she had begun to lose focus he charged at her.

The sudden movement from the Dark Elf woke her from her own thoughts, she moved quickly to avoid his first strike though she had barely missed it. Judith ducked, then jumped as he swung his blade and she danced around him avoiding his strikes. Being smaller than her enemy had it's advantages, she was much lighter and quicker than them. It was easy to avoid them but eventually she knew that she would become exhausted if this continued. As the Dark Elf swung his blade again she brought her wrist up blocking the hit, the sound of his blade against her armor caused her to cringe and she jumped back trying to create distance between them.

The Dark Elf spoke again in his own language then laughter erupted from him, Judith hissed under her breath growing irritated with this Elf. They continued for what seemed like a good hour until Judith finally lost her balance, she stumbled backwards and nearly fell onto her back. As she stumbled the Dark Elf swung his blade and it caught her flesh, Judith let out a cry of pain and she quivered as she felt her clothes grow wet. Though there was no time to examine her wound, she would have to do that later if she even lived that was. As she gained control of her balance and stood straight she pressed her hand reflexively against her wound.

The warmth that spread against her palm caused her to panic even more, she felt the wound trying to determine how deep it was and found that she would need medical attention. That's when the exhaustion became apparent, her legs had grown sore as well as the rest of her body. Judith looked up alarmed as the Dark Elf charged towards her, his hand reached around her neck taking hold of her and as she was risen above the ground she felt the air escaping from her lungs. Her body crashed against a tree that stood behind her and she dropped her dagger, she reached up clawing at the Dark Elf's hand that held her neck. She had always been afraid of death and had done what she could to avoid dangerous situations, yet here she was with little chance to survive.

In a moment of panic hundreds of thoughts clouded her mind and she desperately wanted to breath, though no air filled her lungs when she opened her mouth and the Dark Elf that held her laughed. Then she raised her knee hitting the Dark Elf between his jaw and neck. Judith had sharpened a part of her knee guard, making it a weapon itself. As it tore into the flesh of the Dark Elf his face became stiff but his grip around her neck remained. Then finally she managed to bring her fingers under his palm, when she did his grip loosened then finally he released her. The Dark Elf fell backwards against the ground as she fell too and from him she could hear him gurgling.

The first breath was harsh, then shortly as she finally satisfied herself her breathing returned to normal. Judith lifted herself but as slowly as she could while being cautious about the Dark Elf, then once she felt that she could move she took hold of her dagger and crawled towards the Dark Elf bringing herself closer. He laid still, blood coming from his now open throat. Judith had jerked her knee from one side to the other hoping to do as much damage as she could and she certainly had done some damage. Anger grew inside of her suddenly and she trusted the dagger into the Dark Elf's neck, inside his throat collapsed as she drove the dagger straight through his flesh and then his eyes rolled into the back of his head.

"Bastard..." She said to herself then suddenly she felt afraid, what had she done? She had taken the life of another with no hesitation, what had this war done to her? Judith pulled her dagger from his flesh then forced herself to stand, as she did she suddenly realized how soaked her clothes had become with her own blood. Quickly she retrieved her quiver and bow then once they were safely attached to herself she left and begun to long journey back to her camp. She was not meant to be this far into the forest, she had been told that it was too dangerous yet natural curiosity always brought her deep into the forest. Now look at what her curiosity had done to herself, she was near death and a half hour walk from her camp!

Drawing a blade back from the freshly severed flesh Rhyldrin almost lazily stood over his handy work. Almost examining it, not like he had anything better to do with his free time. A unmarked fighter, out of the many men the Queen commanded this was one of the few that the Light elves tried to avoid at all costs in combat. He didn't work for the queen so to speak, he did however take up contracts and job offers if she so wished certain members of the other side dead. He rather liked it this way, not always having a post to return to and no real rush. So long as he lived to see the next battle and fulfilled his contracts he could care less what either side thought of his actions. Peace was not something he foresaw in the near or any future.

Though this day something happened to catch his attention. From the sounds of it a small tussle seemed to break out. A sound of a arrow leaving it's masters bow, the odd thing was it seemed the target was either missed or lived the first strike. Normally his curiosity didn't get the better of him, but there were few and far between as far as archers went for either side. So to think one such unit missed its mark was unheard of. Besides that he wanted to see who would be the victor in this struggle for life. He was a odd one when it came down to it, being able to watch his own side struggle and fight without offering to lift a finger, let alone be seen that he was even there.

It was a true battle indeed watching the two, the archer was so much smaller then the brute it faced. For the two locked into battle it probably felt like hours, but the fight was a mere few moments before the smaller Light elf seemed to gain the upper hand. To admit he was amused by this was a understatement. Their form was dreadful as far as hand to hand went and from what it seemed the archer was no where near as powerful as the one that now lay on the ground dead.

Though something else caught Rhyldrin's eye after the fight had ended. The archer almost seemed repulsed by what had happened... interesting, to take someones life and to act like that? He smirked a little to himself as the archer started to walk towards what he presumed to be the direction of a Light elf encampment. Maybe he would toy with this little warrior, killing it wasn't in his plan. No point in slaying a wounded ranged user, where would the fun in that be.

He followed the archer for a little while before making himself known as he spoke causing the wounded one to freeze in their tracks, probably presuming the worse. "If your going to carry a bow, shoot to kill... hesitation will only quickly your own demise." How odd it was for a enemy to be giving the other side advise. But his word were true enough, to admit he felt sorry for the archer. With just one foe they were nearly killed because of a bad shot so it seemed. It was almost a cursed blessing the poor sod was still alive.

Though even with the wounds the other had he prepared for the archer to draw a weapon, still trying to fight for it's life till the end. Though as much blood as there seemed to be on the ground maybe they wouldn't have the strength to do so.

((bah i had a longer post that i forgot most of the details on due to the site logging me out ...))

( Don't worry about it, I like it! )

Judith struggled as she walked trying to move as quickly as she could, if she was discovered by another Dark Elf she had doubts that she could put up much of a fight. Every so often she paused giving herself a moment to rest then she pushed herself to continue. Remaining here for any longer would do no good, chances were that another Elf would discover the dead Dark Elf. Hopefully one of her own and if not she would rather not be here when that happened. Though if it came between being captured and held as a hostage or dying she would much rather die either by her own hand or another's.

It had felt like a half hour had already passed but she knew very well that it had only been ten minutes at the most. The bleeding was causing her to become light headed and her perception of time distorted. Judith wondered if she would even make it to the camp before collapsing. When another suddenly spoke Judith came to a stop and looked over her shoulder, the sight of the other surprise her and it was not long before she became afraid. It seemed that luck was not on her side, the Dark Elf earlier and now another who was giving her advice. When she paused for a moment and thought she realized that he could only be saying things if he had been near by.

"How long have you followed me?" She asked then turned herself around to completely face the other, one hand remained pressed against her wound and the other rested beside her side. Judith watched the other with as much focus as she could manage and her free hand was ready to take hold of her dagger. "Did you enjoy watching me struggle?" She asked the other then she cringed as pain came from her open wound, Judith looked down at her wound knowing that she did not have much time left. Being already half dead she knew that he could easily finish her off if he wished to.

He nearly laughed at the one before him demanding such answers and questioning his actions. Little bit of a spit fire this one was that was certain. "As far as you know I could have been following you for weeks." He said shrugging slightly knowing it was too true. "but your not one of my targets, nor do they normally live that long." He wasn't going to answer the question as to how long he had been following her around. It wasn't long enough to pay any attention to the fact she was even a she. In her current state her voice was thrown off a bit so she didn't sound the same to say the least.

"As far as the struggle... no I rather thought it was a sad display. You barely lived against a common fighter. If your going to miss your target then be better prepared." It was true he could have killed her rather then complaining that she was hardly someone he would consider a fighter. Normally he wouldn't waste his time toying with the other side either.. but this was a odd case. The way the archer had reacted after killing the one who had been trying to kill him... strange indeed.

"Though if I were you I'd keep walking. Theres a patrol due through here any time. Though if you manage to make it a half a mile more you might run across your own patrol." It was almost a scary thought he had the routes of both sides patrols, if he wanted he could kill them easily enough but why bother when he had larger targets to go after. In fact he didn't commonly strike down the lesser fighters unless they started the fight... and there was quite a few who were that stupid.

With that he started to turn and go about his business like nothing had even happened. Almost daring the archer to try something so stupid or bold as to try to strike out in his current condition. But he figured the archer wouldn't make it much longer anyway, he didn't owe the Light elf a quick or merciful death so he wasn't going to bother drawing a blade to do so.

When Judith did not return to the camp when she was due a small group of her fellow Light Elves grew worried. Archers were indeed hard to come by and it was especially hard to find one as good as Judith. Other than archery she was also one of the few who had studied some medicine and could recognize the differences between a potentially fatal plant and one that could save a life. Brishen, the Light Elf who ran the camp with Judith and also her younger brother, sent out a group of three men to search for her. He even hoped that she would return, though they did have their differences and did not get along well he knew that she would be a great lose for the camp.

Judith had not bothered with the second Dark Elf, she had bled for too long and had bled too much. If she delayed herself from returning to the camp further she would certainly not make it, hell she wondered if she could even make it without delays. It wasn't as if she could fight again either, if she even tried to kill this Dark Elf she knew that it would end with her own demise. It was better to be thankful that he showed no interest in her, if he wished to he could easily capture her, nurse her back to health and then... Well do whatever he pleased really. It didn't take much thinking to know what another was capable of, so she quickly pushed that thought away knowing that it would only uncover bad memories.

It felt as if she was almost done, she was almost within reach of the camp but when Judith looked around desperately trying to find it she found nothing but trees that stood tall around her. An involuntary whimper escaped from her when she realized she may have been going the wrong way, it was a very real possibility. After all she had lost a lot of blood and was beyond exhausted from the struggle, it was easy for one to become easily confused. Before she could take another step she fell to her knees then her body crashed against the soil below her. She could not walk anymore, she felt ill and knew that she would be near death within less than an hour. All she could do was lay still upon the ground trying not to allow her eyes to close for too long, but once they closed they remained closed and she fell asleep.

Kane was the first to spot her, a very tall and slender young mage, he began to run towards Judith and once beside her he crouched to feel for a pulse. Then the two others ran towards her, when they finally stood beside Kane he announced that she still had a pulse. He moved Judith making her lay straight on her back, but when he tried to lift her one of the other Light Elf's, Uldric, placed a hand on his shoulder and forced him to move away. "I'll carry her," he said then took Judith into his arms. "I don't think that we have time for you to play hero." He said, then him and the other Light Elf laughed. Kane kept his mouth shut not sure of what to say to such a comment, then when the other two began to leave he stood and followed silently.

Sure there were a number of things he could have done to the little light elf that he thought for sure wasn't going to make it to the camp let alone through the night. But truth of it was this whole war bored him, there were so many things he had wanted to do when he was younger and before the war broke out and seemed to destroy everything he had once cherished. Now he lived each day expecting to be sent out on some impossible mission, one of them he knew for sure would end his life. Not that this fact stopped him from proceeding with each contract that was given to him. Sure he wanted something out of life, but the truth of it was he never recovered from the tragedy that fell upon the two races some years ago.

Normally he kept to himself save two certain elves that were as close to family and friends as he had left. Neither of them ever giving up or letting Rhyldrin get too far without having some form of contact with the living world. If Rhyldrin had a say in it he'd stay to himself and avoid any contact with his fellows, but they just refused to let him vanish that long. Madaes was one of them and the other was his wife Neimi. Both had known Rhyldrin and his family for what seemed to be forever, so giving up on him now would make it all seem like a waste.

Madaes was one of the top wizards under the Queen's command, he didn't enjoy giving orders or else he could be labeled as the head of the magic division. His wife Neimi however was the head of the cleric's and medical wing. Seeing as both Rhyldrin and Madaes commonly returned from whatever task they set out to do wounded she had scolded them both more times then she cared to count. Her fear was that one or the other of them wouldn't return one day, it was a fact she didn't want to face up to as she tried to keep them both in good health. Even if Rhyldrin normally refused her help and took to tending to most of his wounds himself.

Today was no different from any other to him. After the run in with the odd little archer he had never bothered to think twice about. If he had known who the archer was or that it was a female he might have taken different actions... War did have a way of changing people and it had been going on long enough. But today he was finding himself without work. After turning in the symbol from the last contract completed, the Queen said she had no further orders at the present time.

Being left to his own will he found he hated having such free time. It made the days pass by so slowly, sure he could go out and kill some Light elf troops but where was the fun in that? He wanted something to challenge him. Madaes was with him this time around as he walked through the thicket with little to no care. Most of the Light elves that had heard of the assassin with the scar on his face knew better then to test their luck, if he left you alive or didn't start the fight don't invoke one. Of course this was never spoken of in the Light elf camps if someone did cross him and didn't try to kill him, their general would kill them himself probably.

"You know.. you could go back to picking up where your father left off on his work." Madaes said before getting a glare from Rhyldrin. "heh just a thought.." He muttered a little still following the other knowing that conversation was hardly to be expected. Though it did hurt to see his friend like this, someone he had known from childhood. Rhyldrin didn't always use to be like this or hate the world around him, no... it just took one day to break him. The same day that the war started and took everything he had bothered to car about away.

As she was carried back to the camp Judith drifted in and out of consciousness, looking up she saw a familiar face and before her eyes rolled to the back of her head again she saw the other two. During the brief moments that she woke she was afraid of the man who held her, confused and very afraid. When she finally arrived at the camp everyone was skeptical about her surviving, Judith was immediately brought to the doctor and he begun to work on her as soon as she was laid down upon a table. Kane, Uldric and the other Light Elf named Cato were shooed off from the medical tent and told that either her survival or death would be announced once he was done. Even Brishen was denied access to the medical tent, the doctor did not wish for any distractions as he cleaned and closed Judith's wound.

It seemed that for once luck was on her side, she had not bled as much as they had thought. The doctor discovered that some of the blood, well at least not all of it could possibly be it, considering how deep and long the wound was. It was a relief, however she did still lose quite a bit of blood but was expected to make a full recovery. After she was cleaned and the wound had been tended to Judith was brought to a bed to rest, one of the other Elf's who studied medicine supervised her waiting for her to wake. They didn't want her to get up and wander around without getting the food and water that she needed.

When she woke she was greeted by the woman who had been keeping an eye on her. Judith was confused at first then realized where she was and that she was thankfully alive. She barely had any time to think before food and water was shoved down her throat, while she slowly drank and ate she was constantly reminded that she needed to gather the proper nutrients to help herself feel better. This woman reminded her of her mother but she kept that thought to herself. Shortly after she was finished eating she was told that she had a visitor, when she allowed them entry she regretted it. Brishen came into the tent, standing as tall and menacing as ever, with a smirk on his face as always.

Of course she would be questioned, she had nearly forgotten. It felt as if it would never end and when he was finally done asking her how her wound came to be and why she was so deep within the forest he let her be. Once alone finally she reached down lifting her blouse to examine the wound, looking at it she could tell that it would leave an annoying scar if she were unlucky. Looking at it made her feel nauseous and she decided to pull back down her shirt when that happened. She wondered how long she was be kept in bed, she was already eager to explore the forests once again.

Aside from a handful of small skirmishes the two sides seemed to keep to their own territories. This happened every so often, but for most this was considered a small blessing. Not so many tuned up dead or missing during the quiet periods of the war. Though not everyone rejoiced in such times of 'peace'. Rhyldrin grew bored easily, even with Madaes and Neimi bothering him, or rather he looked at it as them bothering him. Madaes was making sure his childhood friend stayed out of trouble for as long as the other let him.

Today was no different, aside from the fact Madaes was following Rhyldrin through the forest this time around. He was curious what Rhyl was planning to do with so much free time. The Queen was busy with her duties orders but none of them included taking out any targeted member of the other side. Though the only good thing that came out of Rhyldrin having nothing to do was that he stuck around the city more. This made Neimi happy at least not having to worry about at least one of the two of them.

"Please say your not going out here to do something stupid." Madaes seemed to complain following Rhyldrin who didn't bother to answer the other. Then again he hardly ever answered most of the thing s Madaes said. "That means yes... if your that bored how about baby sitting!" He was merely joking but he had to laugh as Rhyldrin gave him a look as if asking if he was joking. Between the two of them they could probably take out a reasonable force, though in this part of the forest they shouldn't have to worry about the Light elves, save maybe a few here and there trying to scout.

After a while Madaes gave up on talking Rhyldrin out of whatever he was planning to do. He had a few duties he needed to attend to back in the city and he knew this. Though he did remind Rhyldrin that Neimi would kill them both twice over if either of them turned up missing or dead. He waved off such a reminder, like he was going to end up either way. Even if he did expect one day to bite off more then he could handle he didn't plan on it being today.

( Meh, mehhh! )

A few days had passed now and she was finally allowed to leave her bed. Her wound had properly healed and the stitches that held her flesh together were now removed. A light scar rested across her stomach now but over time it was slowly fade, Judith wasn't too concerned about it though she knew if her mother even spotted the slightest cut on her she would panic. She was thankful for the treatment that she had received and though she was reluctant to thank the Elf that carried her home she did and she did so quickly. Once she had thanked all of the Elves that had helped her she found herself with nothing to do for the day. Brishen had left the camp to attend a meeting, he was presenting new attack plans and defense plans, along with sharing information about the whereabouts of Dark Elf camps. The other men and few women were busy with their usual duties and seeing as they all followed their orders Judith didn't have to once check up on them.

Delighted to venture off into the forest on her free time Judith was quick to retrieve her quiver and bow from her tent. Then once dressed in some light armor and clothing she left for the forest unannounced. She would not be gone for long, just a hour or so and if anyone wished to find her they were aware of her usual sitting place within the forest. Of course there was a chance she may not be there, she may have drifted farther into the forest but usually she tried to contain the urge to do that. After all she had already gone missing once this week and due to that incident everyone appeared to be keeping an eye on her and everyone else within the camp. They were worried and on edge, war seemed good at making individuals insecure.

Judith was careful as she ventured throughout the forest still very much aware of the danger that lurked within it. It wasn't only Dark Elves, of course there was the wild life. Deers, rabbits, a variety of birds and of course the unfriendly type of animals too like wolves, snakes, wild bore and other unusual creatures. It would be terrible for her to let her guard down while here so as she moved she moved with caution and remained as alert as she possibly could.

((Time to spice this up a little, maybe giving her a excuse for a cheap shot.))

Thankfully Madaes had finally left him alone, he could hear himself think once again. Though the two had been friends for what seemed forever... he still thought to this day Madaes talked far too much and about nothing. Though maybe in some cases if he listened more he would have kept himself out of trouble more then a few times. Let alone in this case Madaes gave him a fair warning to a few certain creatures in the surrounding area that were normally here during certain seasons. Even normally peaceful or non aggressive beasts could become so with young involved...

His plans were to pass the time by toying with a few of the scouts. It was all too easy to send them on some wild chase with a few tricks and some tracks to follow. They never had any challenging scouts out here... though they probably needed their best fighters doing other jobs other then walking a path all day long. Oddly though, today the paths seemed empty like maybe the light elves were planning or preparing for something. Maybe it would do a bit of good to scope out a few camps to see if he could gather any information.

Sure it wasn't his job, but he still lived in this area. Just because he refused to wear the Queen's colors or obey orders without getting paid to do so hardly meant he was going to let the Light elves do as they pleased. But in this case he wasn't going to even get anywhere near close enough to a camp to see why the roads were clear and there seemed to be not a enemy in sight. He was distracted from his thoughts by a sudden snapping of a near-by tree. Though it sounded to be a smaller tree it was still something that was not often heard in this part of the forest.

Almost as soon as the sound ran through the otherwise silent forest he had found cover just to be safe. For starters having no idea what had caused the noise, also there was the fact it could be something the Light elves were doing for all he knew. Though he would be considered lucky if it were the Light elves at this point in time. The noise had certainly not come from any Light elf... no it was from a young forest dragon who was making it's own path as it walked.

The beast stood only a mere nine feet tall when on all fours and at least 14 when it stood on two. Covered in green moss and some odd plant life the beast had dirt and leaves falling from it as it moved through the forest. Aside from knocking over a few trees the beast was almost silent and blended well with it's shaded forest cover. The worse part of it was this was just a young one... Though odds were the mother was no where near here. Dragons or at least this type were not known to care for their young.

Though even a young beast could do plenty of damage if it got near a encampment or town. Or if it saw any easy pray, and that would almost be anything smaller then it was.

( oh look I replied :'D )

It wasn't until she was deep within the forest that her eyes spotted the creature, from afar Judith could hear the thunderous sound as trees bent, snapped and crashed against the earth sending tremors throughout the soil beneath her feet. For a while now she had sprinted silently, her bow held close to her side in her right hand, weaving between trees as she made her way towards the source of the noise. She only stopped when she caught a glimpse of the creature, slowing her pace to a jog as she examined it from a safe distance.

She had never seen a dragon before, only heard of them in tales. Though here was one now, alive and very real. She noted the size of the beast, and finally brought herself to a full halt. It wouldn't be smart to confront it, especially alone, Judith knew that she wouldn't stand a chance. She pressed a shoulder against a tree and peered out from behind it at the creature, taking a few more moments to observe it. Then she clipped her bow onto her back, tightened her gloves and when she got a good grip on the trunk she begun to climb towards the sky.

It wouldn't be wise to confront it and it wouldn't be wise to leave it be either. She would follow it, at safe distance of course, and make sure that it was headed in the opposite direction of the Capital. If it begun to make its way towards the Capital Judith would have to warn the others. She climbed until she was high enough off of the ground and was safely nestled into the top of the tree, hidden by the hundreds of branches and their leaves. She crouched, perching on top of a branch, her knees to her chest and she held onto the branch below her with both hands tightly. Now all she could do was watch and make sure that her people were safe.

Of course it was a dragon, size be damned it was still a dragon. Though it seemed to be a type of green and he wasn't sure if that meant he was lucky or not. Greens at the least didn't breath fire so there was that risk at the least gone. They were known to have acid and poisons though. Oh yeah this should be fun, every hope was the creature found a light elf camp and destroyed it. Though that didn't seem to be the case or his luck for that matter. Than again what luck did he have again?

Out of all the times for there to be a few youths out and about in a area where they shouldn't be it had to be today didn't it? For the moment the dragon didn't seem to spot the easy meal of the two youngsters. Maybe he wouldn't have to do anything, that would be good... What were they doing out here anyway!? Not that he had room to talk him and Madaes all the time ended up on the edged of the light elf areas if not in them at times just to see what they could discover. Saying goes curiosity killed the cat...

About the moment he started to relax because the two kids seemed to notice the beast as well and were keeping still he noticed the dragon seemed to take a new interest in the area they were in. Fantastic... he was going to have to do something, he couldn't just walk away knowing what was going to happen. Even a skill fighter against a dragon was a hard fight let alone children. This was not the best area to be exposing himself in either, not by a long shot. But he had no other real choice and as far as he knew there weren't any light elves in this area. Probably because of the beast.

He had moved already by the time the dragon found the two kids. Of course they started running, the dragon hunted by movement like a lot of the forest creatures. Odds were if they had remained still it wouldn't have been the wiser. But not the beast was quick to follow its new found prey, to a all too easy meal. One of the kids ended up tripping, hardly gracefully at that as the dragon closed in on it's target. raising its head it started its attack, it seemed to be preparing a spit of sorts though Rhyl was not about to take bets on what element it was. The green aura from it gave away it was one of two things. The child by this time was on his feet again standing there in shock, not that anyone could blame him. It was a dragon after all.

As the blast hit the ground a slight smog rose from it, apparently a form of toxin. Though the child was safe, just barely being forced from in front of the beast in a tackle. Rhyl let out a bit of a breath as he got the child to his feet again and told him to run now. The dragon was about to go after the boy before the sharp whistle caught it's attention. Great.. fighting a dragon Madeas was going to think he was mad. These creatures hardly were ones to give up a hunt. Not only that but giving away his position like that was not smart, even if it was buying the children time to run. Curse his conscious for making him do this.
