Bad day at work... | #1 | |
Ugh.
Yesterday i was supposed to be alone at work. For the first time. But nooo. My aunt came to work and didnt leave till seven. WHich meant there were only 2 hours left of work. And, she hired my best friend. Which yeah, i wanted her too, but fuck. I was helping a costumer and i hear my friend snickering at what i said to the costumer. The lady asks me another question and i had no time to answer because my friend comes up next to me and completely takes over. At that time i didnt know she was hired, so i was thinking "First of all, that was rude as hell, secondly, you dont even fucking work here." So once she took over i go to my aunt and go, "You should hire her, she just made a sale (the lady ended up buying the stuff) and my aunt goes "I did". I didnt expect her to hire her right a fucking way. Specially when she doesnt have the money to pay anyone yet. Which is why ive been "training" for 2 months without getting paid, cause really, my training only lasted a week. If my friend ends up getting more hours than me and gets paid right a fucking way, i will be beyond pissed. Not only that, but when my aunt, mom and aunts husband talked at dinner my aunt said she didnt hire my friend. She flat out lied. What.The.Fuck? Yesterday seriously made me so stressed, it took everything i had not to cry. ... Have you had any bad days at work? I'm Jessi. non binary, pansexual. she/her they/them. I age regress. signs I’m regressin- when I say haihai (or just hai) when I use cute emotes like - o u o. sometimes I like txt talk too, it’s like me slipping out of “adult speak” I NEED posting currency, I have 90 runes to sell.

Oh, bad days at work suck. Of course they do, or they wouldn't be bad days. I used to work at a Tim Horton's, and I believe it's a given fact that at least once every employee will have a breakdown in the bathroom at one point or another. In my case it was dealing with this other employee who wouldn't stop getting on my case about little things to be done around the store. Why it was my job to do everything I don't know, and she was just plain rude about it. I don't like conflict or confrontation so I usually just ignored her since we were only together one shift a week, but it was a painful few hours. Eventually she glared at me for not picking up some dishes on the counter (she was standing right next to them with no customers and I was stocking the front counters while I had no customers). I made no effort to hide my exasperation -but didn't say anything- and just grabbed them anyway at which point she complained to the supervisor about me getting mad at her because she was telling me to do stuff. That backfired as the supervisor made it clear she had no business telling me to do stuff. Apparently there was a yelling match at some point because she went home. Some relief after that.
But yeah, customer service jobs can easily make for a bad day, especially when people seem to think that because I'm on a particular end of the counter I'm somehow a lower class of individual. I would bump into the same people outside of work (small town) and their attitudes would be different. It wasn't a bad job but it could go downhill very fast. Even know when I hear the comment "the customer is always right" I want to smack somebody and mentally add "no matter how wrong they are." (I can't remember who said that in the first place but it's pretty accurate. Well, didn't mean to ramble on quite that much but I've never really mentioned that stuff before.

Oh quiet you are not lying. I love my coworkers, the rest of the world the comes through my lines some times they make me bitter and sick. I have never in my life seen grown adults about to go fist a cuffs before over a place in line. I thought only kindergardeners did that.
@Titanic: Have you tried talking with your aunt about the unfairness in working? It is my experience that the person that has been working longer usually gets better hours and stuff. You need to tell her that just because you are family doesn't mean she can step over you. I would also start looking for a new job, not under your family if she continues.
