Default IE9   #1
Is it actually better than firefox? I keep being told that it is, but I can't set aside my hatred for IE long enough to see for myself. xD Of course, mone of this actually matters since I use Chrome... :P

So what do you think of IE9 if you've used it?
And what's your favorite browser?

Early on I had some problems with IE9 after upgrading from 8. I haven't had any lately, so they might have fixed the problems. I use it or google chrome. I like IE9 better, but chrome is good too.

I like IE9. It's very basic, and it took me a while to find the tools I used but it's fine now. I find that it works great for things like Facebook which Firefox seems to have issues with, or it does on my end. I alternate between the two browsers depending on the website. I have noticed though, that my computer doens't seem to like to have both browsers in use at the same time.

well actually, IE9 is very compatible with lots of websites and especially if your OS is Microsoft Windows.
Firefox needs to deal with its bugs but it's over all very reliable.
I still prefer google chrome since it can handle mostly anything on different OSs xD;

I like firefox mostly because it's open source. People who share things with the masses for no profit are the best kind of people. Open source stuff also has the benefit of being compatible with almost all systems. As for my OS, I actually would run Linux instead of Windows if I weren't already so used to Windows. I do use Linux in all my computer labs at school though. Chrome is also pretty nicely compatible with all operating systems. For a giant corporation, Google is actually pretty benevolent. xD

Open course is nice, but I still find it's terribly with facebook games and it doesn't work with a couple sites. Some of that is probably becasue I'm running only a simple version and haven't bothered to activate plug-ins since I use IE9 the bulk of the time.

There are also days where it seems my comp or internet connection just likes one browswer over another. Not sure why.

Well, for some reason, when I try to go on IE9, my flash player keeps on crashing and bugging every damn time. So I just switched to Firefox and probably won't bother with IE for a while, and most people I know greatly dislike it too. We're all on either Firefox or Chrome.

Can't say much more on it since it keeps on bugging and/or making stuff crash for me.

Photobucket decided that it doesn't like firefox yesterday. Maybe the website is updating something but it tells me there's maintanence (has been since last night). No snag with IE9 today though.

Honestly, I can't give much input on IE9 itself, but I still stand by what many people say: "Internet Explorer....the best browser to download another browser." I know the biggest problem with IE has been that since it is the most widely used browser, most viruses are made to target it and its users.

Unfortunately, IE9 is compatible with Windows XP... in my eyes, that's just better. I have a strong hatred for IE, so it's not a big deal. Though, I will give them props, it does look really sleek and clean. Though, I feel like from the commercial I saw for it, the back/forward buttons changing colors for like websites like facebook, twitter, etc would probably get really annoying after awhile.

Never noticed the back/forward buttons changing colour at all. They're the same old blue they always were.

How does Google Chrome work with trisphee? It might just be me but Tris seems to be extra slow today, and even more so with Firefox (I tried). IE has issues with spoiler blocks on occasion, which is what I use Firefox for, but Firefox seems to have snags with the opening page images and such. It's just slow. Thinking about giving Chrome a shot. Alas, I know already that my online course network doesn't support Chrome so I'll be alternating between three browsers instead of two. Joy.

@Alpha: Ha, yeah, I have heard that before. That's pretty much all I ever use IE for. Though the virus thing reminds of what Mac users say to defend their preference of Macs. :P

@Kloob: This is true, but a browser's interface is never high on my list of important features. If it were I would not be talking about using Linux.

@Quiet: Trisphee has run very smoothly on Chrome. I have not had any issues. I highly recommend it.

I'm not saying other browsers aren't susceptible to viruses, same as in the case between PCs and Macs (I'm a Mac user mainly, but run a PC as my desktop as well), just that since Windows and its programs are the most used they are the most widely targeted. A bit of a tech guy myself as well....

Also, since I didn't answer the question the first time, my browser of choice is Safari, but I use Firefox and Opera for backups or multi tasking at times.

Right, exactly. I know why it is that Macs don't get viruses as often. :P

If you know me, the following statement may surprise you:

IE9 actually stands to be as good as Firefox.

IE10 will probably be better.

Now admittedly this is in part because Firefox has done a pathetic job of keeping up with the times, but Microsoft has also gotten their heads out of their collective butts and ACTUALLY PRODUCED A COMPETENT BROWSER.

I doubt IE10 will be able to keep up with its contemporary WebKit browsers (Chrome 23, Safari 6), but I have been sufficiently impressed by its performance and compatibility.
