Default Lost in Madness [M]   #1
Story Background: Three years ago the great Kingdom known as Dalibor became nothing but ruins. An unknown enemy at the time attacked the Kingdom. The village was first, the woman taken to torture, the children turned into child soldiers, the elderly were killed and the men either became slaves or soldiers. The enemy then made their way to the castle, behind them the village burned. Despite having trained for years the soldiers of the royal family could not withstand the great numbers of the enemy. One by one they fell, foot by foot the castle was conquered. The leader of the enemy reached the grand ball room. The object that he greatly desired rested there, the Princess who was celebrating her sixteenth birthday. Though he was immediately stopped by her loyal guard, during the struggle the Princess fled from the enemy. She ran to the rear of the castle, then out into the garden. Though there was no where to go, desperate to escape from the enemy she jumped into the waters below. The sea swallowed her up, the force left her unconscious as she drifted away from her home. When she awoke she knew nothing but her name, a couple had discovered her and had brought her back to their home. They later decided to keep the Princess seeing as she had no home and the woman was never able to have any children as her own. Though they did not know who she was. Ever since she was born the Princess had been held behind the castle's walls. Now... this story takes place in the present with the Princess living her new life with her new family. And unknowing to her the past is about to return.

Story until now: After nearly being captured from her hoely little vllage Emily has been travelig with a wizard that goes by the nameof Alton. The two hve managed to stay out of the enemies grasp for the time being but not without a few close encounters and some adjusting to get use to the others company. Afer the shakey start between the two they came to an agreement to travel together, but not beore Alton ende up being roped into training or at least attempting to tran Emily in the magic arts. This on it's own was a task easier said then done unde the best conditions, let alone te ones they had. Not too long into their travels they came across Felix, unknown to Emily at first this man was her soon to be beloved husband. Though with her memories still hazy she seemed to not share the same feelings for this now stranger as she did before. All the while Alon was keping his own secrets from his traveling companion, one that would prove to be a issue later down the road. Currently the two parted ways from Felix's manner andfound themselves in the middle of a town that had been slaughtered, all but one small child.

Character Sheet:
Played By: Daren
Name: Alton Aonar of the Rilynghym line
Race: Drow (aka dark elf)
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Appearance: Standing at about 6'2 with silvery white hair he's hardly anything special to look at among his kind. Nothing that sets him apart really, he's not the tallest of them that's for sure, the only rare feature he even possesses is that one eye is white while the other remains it's normal red color. But there is reason for this, on the right side of his face there seems to be a rather large burn scar, covering a good portion of that half of his face, including his eye. He keeps his hair pulled back in most cases minus what few strands that seemed to stay in front or at the side of his face.
Equipment: Normally includes potion ingredients, as well as scrolls (some being blank while others are not. The only object he seems to keep in his possession at all times is a rather old looking tomb..
Wardrobe: He dresses much like a common traveler, though his robes probably give away what he really is. Not that he's trying to hide his true colors, the only thing he really hides is his face. In most cases he prefers to keep his hood up and refuses to answer people when they ask if he or what he is hiding.
Bio: One of the many long forced to do the bidding of the evil lord looking to over throw the current kingdom, a child solider or rather in this case a gifted solider. The uncommon ability to use any form of magic he was presented with earned him a easier route then most under the lord's command. Though during the raid on the castle he was far from a child then, in fact he lead one of the forces that forced their way into the central part of the castle. Even with his skills and phrase from the being he took orders from he was far from content with this so-called life. In the two years that passed he had begun to dabble with forbidden arts, ones that were long said destroyed in the last ancient war. Even with his plans to turn against the new found king of these lands he kept his place, he needed a time a reason to make such a bold act against the current ruler. To go about it blindly was asking to be hacked down on the spot...

Name: Emily
Age: Eighteen
Race: Light Elf
Appearance: Her hair is very long about to her bottom, straight and chocolate brown. Emily's skin is fair and her eyes are a light green color. She stands at around 5'5 which is rather tall for a female Light Elf and she weighs the appropriate weight for her height and age. She often wears a variety of dresses, heels and accessories, pants of course too and many shirts. Though she often wears a simple, long-sleeved, blue shirt, black trousers, a black cloak and a pair of brown boots.
Personality: Very naive at first and rather immature. Over time she grows to learn more about the world and about others, eventually causing her to become more knowledgeable, mature and responsible.

Quote:
Emily is an eighteen year old Light Elf who does not recall her own past. After an incident that occurred two years ago she was forced to rebuild her life only knowing her name. She was found by a couple who eventually adopted her since they could not and did not have children of their own. The couple were unaware of Emily's past and were oblivious of who she really is.
Two years ago she lived with her mother and father who were both royalty, making her of course a princess. They were admired by many and loved dearly by their followers and allies. However it seemed that they were not loved dearly by all, their kindness and trust was taken advantage of and lead to their demise.
One evening the kingdom was invaded, they destroyed the village then the castle. Once they were finished only a massive graveyard was left where a once flourishing kingdom was. The kingdom who turned against them wished to gain power over the great lands and the Queen desired ultimate power. They were simply interfering with this plot and were quickly annihilated along with many other Lords and Ladies at the gathering. Many fled from the gathering only to be captured later, those who have successfully escaped their deaths keep quiet about it secretly waiting for the right moment to seek revenge.
During the massacre they wished to capture Emily however this did not go very well. She fled from the ball and out into the gardens, then towards the edge of her property. Below the water tempted her and behind her flames engulfed what she called her home. Confused and frightened she jumped, knowing very well that she may die, and despite all odds she survived!

Emily could feel the child tremble as she held her and worried that she may never be alright. She could not imagine what Bianca had seen and what she continued to see when she closed her eyes and Emily could only hope that she would live a normal life. Morning came quicker than she had expected, once the child had fallen asleep in her arms she soon drifted off into a deep sleep herself. She only woke late in the morning when Bianca stirred in her arms. The child didn't speak much once she was awake, she listened at least which allowed Emily to tell her where they were going and what they were planning to do. After a brief explanation and receiving a slight nod from the girl she took Bianca's hand in her own and left the little shed that they had sought shelter in for the night.

Outside it was chilly despite it nearing the early afternoon now. Emily had noticed the change in weather as they continued their journey and from studying the map she could tell that it would only become colder. Emily removed her cloak then leaned down wrapping it around the child, Bianca look up at her confused by this. "It's cold, you will need that for where we are going." The girl opened her mouth to protest but nothing came out, instead she silently accepted the cloak. "Don't worry about me, I'll be fine." Emily said then smiled at her, she took the girl's hand in her own then went over to the horses.

After checking the bags strapped to the horses she leaned down to help Bianca get onto the horse. Emily lifted her and once the girl was seated properly she looked around for Alton then called out for him. "Alton?" She spoke as clearly and as loud as she could so that he could hear, then she waited.

For the most part he remained silent, the child seemed to fair better the less he said and the further he stayed away from her. Not that he could blame her for that, not after what had taken place in her probably peaceful little village. Even as morning came he tried to give Emily and the girl space to prevent any further stress on the child. Instead he went about any preparations that needed to be done in silent as Emily seemed to glance over the map and take care of the child.

They needed to find somewhere to leave the girl though, no matter how attached to Emily she was. It was far too dangerous to take a small child with them, there was no promises that she could be protected during the remainder of their trip. He was sure Emily knew this as well, she was probably trying to find the next town. Rather he hoped that was her plan, she had to know that the girl couldn't stay with them. After this was all over with then Emily could always go back and get the child, but until then it was better for her to stay with someone else.

Alton was snapped from his thoughts as Emily spoke up calling out to him. It was probably a fair sign that she was ready to go, the girl was already on one of the horses and there was nothing left here for them to take care of. Walking over to the two of them he still kept a small distance to prevent the child from feeling as uneasy, she seemed fine so long as he stayed at a certain distance from her. "We should leave if your ready, staying here isn't going to solve anything."

He had a point, only death was left here. Odds were that the group that had done this could come back to make sure their work was finished, even if they wouldn't be much of a match Alton still didn't want to waste the time to fight them, let alone to let the chance that word could get back to the current ruler that Emily was located once more...

It startled her when the other approached her and the young girl, after discovering the mess that had been left here she was still on edge. Emily looked over at Alton and listened then nodded agreeing with him. "You are right," she said then she approached him and spoke softer. "We have to find somewhere for this poor girl to go, it will be too dangerous for her to travel with us. I just hope that we can find a new home for her before we get too far." She felt guilty wanting to rid herself and Alton of the child but it would do no good to bring her along. Their destination was in the middle of no where, in a land with harsh, cold weather, unknown beasts and many foes. Though she did not want to think about it Emily knew very well that the child would not make it too far, she would die.

"I am as ready as I ever will be, so we may leave now if you are ready as well." She smiled at the other though it was a weak one, then she retreated from him and returned to her horse. "Bianca?" The child looked down at Emily from upon the horse. "We are going to leave now, alright?" She asked and Bianca simply nodded. Emily lifted herself up onto her horse, she paused for a moment feeling Bianca's arms wrap tightly around her then once she was settled upon her horse she looked over at Alton. "Next is a big stop," she said then looked away from the other. "I have no clue how long we may be there."

The next stop had been circled by Felix and he had pointed it out as one of her allies. A woman lived there, a Queen or maybe a Princess, Emily could not remember. Felix had told her that she was kind and knew her mother and father very well. Emily wondered what this woman knew about her parents, she would have to find the right moment to speak with her in privacy. Emily pulled on the reigns causing her horse to snort, then the beast began to walk.

It didn't take long for it to grow colder as they traveled, despite the thickness of her clothes she could feel it and hoped that being under-dressed would not make her ill. It did not help that she felt stiff and sore from how poorly she had slept and that now she had the responsibility of finding a home for a child. When could she finally get some proper rest? When would this journey finally end? She knew that she could not give up but everything was seemingly becoming more difficult and tedious as they grew closer to their destination.

As the sky grew darker Emily began to worry, the night felt cooler than the afternoon had been and she could see her breath with every breath that she took. She turned her head to look over at Alton not sure of what to say. "I think there will be a small stop nearby, hopefully it is friendly enough to rest for the night then we can continue in the morning." Not only did she have to worry for her own safety and Alton's but now she worried for Bianca's as well. "It is safe," Bianca said then squeezed Emily from behind. "I have been there before, I know the way." Emily fell silent for a moment shocked that the girl was speaking so soon. "Can you show us the way?" She asked and Bianca nodded. "Alright, just tell me which way to go then."

Not much time passed by the time they arrived at what appeared to be a small village. Though as they approached Emily noticed that there were not much others around, a few Elves seemed to look up at them suspiciously and it made her feel uneasy. The last thing that she needed was to either be captured or to have an encounter with the Queen's men again. Emily forced her horse to come to a stop then when Alton stopped beside her she looked over at him. "Something isn't right.." She said and then she felt Bianca suddenly let go of her.

Emily turned her head quickly to look back at the child and watched as she lifted herself off of the horse. "Bianca!" She yelled, Emily released the reigns from her hands then quickly got off of the horse herself. "What are you doing?" She asked, Bianca had begun to run and Emily could not stop herself from doing the same. She followed her, pushing past others as she did so and for a moment she was afraid that she had lost Bianca until she turned down an alley between two homes and found her.

The child now stood at the end of the alley in front of a woman. "Did I please you mother?" Bianca asked, the woman leaned down and wrapped her arms around her. "Yes, you did, now it's time for you to finally sleep." She whispered softly to her child, a soft purple glow came from Bianca and what appeared to be smoke escaped from the child's mouth and eyes. Emily watched horrified as the child became limp in the woman's arm, then she became afraid when the woman finally looked up bringing her attention to her. "What did you do?" Emily questioned and the woman grinned then laughed, she laid Bianca gently on the ground then stood. "You poor naive girl, you haven't a clue about what you have gotten yourself into, have you?" Emily took a step back and as she did her body fell into another's, she turned realizing that a tall, build man stood behind her with light hair, dark skin and eyes. "What is this?" She asked and the woman just smiled.

For the whole trip he had kept any thoughts to himself, giving simple answers if Emily asked or nodding to reply to her questions. But the further they traveled the more he kept thinking that something seemed off about this route. If they were on their way to a town even a small one there should be some form of life in-between here and there. A wagon or some villagers that lived just outside of the main collection of houses. Anything would have eased his thoughts but this area seemed almost as barren as the town that they had just left that had been destroyed.

Not once did he question where they were going as far as the small stop along their travels. Most of the towns weren't under the Queen's rule being this far out of the way or at least not the smaller towns. But maybe he was wrong? That or another force could have come into play under the Queen's nose. He shook his head a little dismissing the thoughts. Maybe he was just being overly cautious. They had ditched the Queen's men some time back, they were on their way to a friendly marked town everything was fine. Or rather he wanted himself to believe such a lie when deep down he felt something was wrong.

His thoughts came back to haunt him after the child spoke up finally saying she knew the way to the next town and would show them. Why speak up suddenly, it seemed out of place for the child to talk out of the blue. Though Emily seemed to trust the girl so at the moment all he could do was follow her and the child's directions. Even as they were lead right into the town and he noticed the few villagers standing about watching them his gut was saying to stay alert and to not let Emily get out of his sight. Nothing here felt friendly, sure he was use to villages being uneasy with his presence but this was a different feeling altogether.

He never got to voice his thoughts as the girl seemed to spring from the horse and run off down a ally closely followed by Emily. Now he knew something was wrong. Before he could even get her name out the few villagers that had 'greeted' them seem to draw closer to make sure Emily was separated from him. Hissing out a few words he quickly spoke up a warning that he would not hold back if they continued to stand in his way. He knew it fell upon deaf ears. But he would give them a moment, or at least till he knew what was going on before he bothered striking... Emily was still close enough he could sense her energy, but it seemed to spike suddenly as if she knew she was in danger.

((omg that was short but im on a bit of a time limit anyway.))

( That was good, don't worry about it! )

As the woman approached her leisurely Emily's fear grew and when the woman finally stood mere inches away from herself she felt hot. Inside her chest her heart beat quickened and inside her mind was a mess. She had known that something was off from the very beginning but she could quite what exactly was off, of course she had never expected this. To be lured into an alley in the middle of nowhere, the child that she had protected to be one risen from the dead to simply trick her and to now be trapped between two unfamiliar, seemingly unfriendly Elves. The woman who stood before her appeared to be a hunter, perhaps hired to track down Emily by the Queen or someone else.

Emily knew that even if she asked she would not receive an answer but the question still escaped her. "What is the purpose of this? Who has hired you?" She said with as much confidence as she could, behind her the man laughed and the woman brought a hand just under Emily's chin. "My dear, what a mouth on this one. If you speak to me like that again I may just cut out your tongue! Though I don't think that would go very well.. I was told to bring you back in one piece." Emily froze when the woman touched her and her eyes grew wide when she spoke. "What a pretty one you are! No wonder he has his eye on you.. And your presence.." Her eyes closed and she seemed pleased. "I am certain that you are the one and if you would like to remain alive you should cooperate, alright?"

The woman took a step back from her then looked up at the man. "Make sure to have a good hold on her, it took me very long to find her and I do not want to have to explain that she escaped." She hissed then she returned her gaze to Emily. "Now... what to do about that friend of yours?" She paused for a moment and hummed softly to herself. "Ah.. I think that the others will be plenty to distract him." She said then snapped her fingers. "Now, let's be off in a hurry! We don't want you to be late, Princess!" Emily wanted to resist the man as he took hold of her but found that fighting would be no good, she had not trained enough to know everything about her abilities and using them could possibly cause her to lose control of herself. Instead she cooperated, for now, and allowed these two to escort her out of the village. The man forced her to sit upon a horse then climbed onto it as well, he sat behind her with his arms around her to prevent her from trying to flee. When the woman climbed onto her own horse she spoke briefly to the man in a language that Emily could not comprehend, then they left. As they left she could hear noise from the village and she feared the worse.

Alton waited to get a reply of some kind from the small gathering here, but after he didn't get even the lightest answer he knew something was very wrong here. More so then he first had bothered to pay attention to. Why didn't he pick up on it before? It was magic he knew himself all too well yet he had let it go unnoticed, Emily was far from safe if there was a user of the dark arts around. The so called villagers were just reanimated puppets, the whole group of them. He would bet anything the child was a lure just to get Emily away.

He almost wanted to curse himself, for being so blind and letting this happen. A few moments later it seemed Emily's energy had left the area and whatever had happened she had regained herself causing the sudden spike to die off making it harder to track her. Muttering a few words under his breath the area quickly grew dark as a faint aura surrounded him at his words. "Your master would have been wise not to anger me..." He hissed out before the puppets before him seemed to fall to the ground each one releasing a spirit of sorts as the ties to whoever has animated them were cut.

He allowed all of the energy to be released, all but one that he held a extended hand towards as his eyes glowed blood red in the darkened area. "Running will do no good.." He said as he seemed to read where the connection from this energy ended at, back at it's master. The one who had been controlling the villagers probably knew as soon as her links were severed, and he made sure she heard his final warning to her. Caring little as to who had done such a thing, he disliked any other dark arts user. This one would be no exception... even if she didn't kill the villagers it gave her no right to use them to her will.

After he was done getting a general location of whoever he was tracking he quickly returned to the horse and went about trying to track where Emily was. If luck was with him he would cross paths with her and her captors not too far from town. Then they could go about getting to the next marked 'safe' haven. But not before he took care of the dark magic user who had crossed him. Whoever had hired the woman probably forgot to tell her who Emily was traveling with.

Most magic users have a aura that gives away what element they use or have mastered. Alton kept his hidden and with good reason. Dark magic was not welcome in most areas, it was looked down upon. Most users were killed if they were found or at least in older times. Aside from that it kept his energies in check to make sure nothing he came across was corrupted or ended up rising from it's grave without his willing it to do so.

( Sorry this was lame. )

As they grew farther and farther away from the village Emily begun to wonder how she could escape from these two. She knew very well that the woman would be the biggest problem, she had the ability to bring the dead back life and to use them as she pleased. The man however did not seem to be a magic user and he had an axe strapped to his back. Though of course she had to be cautious, he could always have an unexpected ability. He was a rather large man, tall and built, but she knew that if she was quick enough and considering her size she could both avoid him and flee easily. It was simply a matter of choosing the proper time to do so, if the woman ever left her alone with him that would be her best chance. Emily would have to wait patiently and hope that such an opportunity would be handed to her.

It became darker as they continued to travel and as time continued to pass Emily felt less hopeful. Frustrated she became desperate to flee from these two, by now the man behind her had become relaxed and seemed to be consumed by his own thoughts. The woman rode farther ahead of them and eventually had stopped checking them every so often. They were traveling down a trail that rested between many trees, Emily observed her surroundings before figuring that she could escape from this man and flee into the forest before the woman even realized what had happened.

For a moment she waited and inside her mind she encouraged herself to at least try. She knew that whoever had hired this woman did not want any harm to come to her, the woman had said it herself. If anything she would only receive a beating, but she would certainly be kept alive and far from tortured. After hesitating for what seemed like forever she finally took action, Emily elbowed the man behind her in his stomach as hard as she could, when he reflexively flinched she took advantage of him. She wiggled out of his grasp causing herself to fall flat onto the ground below, then within moments she was running towards the forest as fast as she possibly could. She fled into the forest, behind her she could here the woman and man arguing then footsteps. She wondered how far she could get before they captured her once again.

((It was fine, I can work with it :) ))

All he could do was ride forward and pray that he crossed paths with whoever took Emily. It was all he could to from trying to push the poor beats he was on any harder to make up for the lost ground. Still he couldn't pick up on where Emily was, sure he had shown her how to hide her aura but sometimes it still managed to slip out, he was half counting on that now. Or at least he thought he was, he stopped suddenly as he noticed two horses off of the path a little with no riders. Odds were these belonged to whoever took Emily, but why dismount here?

He got his answer as he noticed that the ground seemed displaced a little like there was a bit of a struggle before someone ran off. This was good, Emily was probably safe enough if she wasn't captured already... They would have to return for the horses, it was far faster to travel by horse then it was by foot. He figured waiting around here would be a safe enough bet to bring about the meeting of the kidnappers and Emily.

Sure he knew Emily had powers and was pretty good at avoiding people, but the dark arts were easy to use to track someone. If the person so willed it you could control a living being instead of just a corpse... but it wasn't as easy to do nor did most beings enjoy such punishment. TO lose control of your body was not a feeling that was pleasant at all.

He stood a little away from where the horses were so he'd be out of site till whoever returned was closer. To admit he was impatient with this next part as he drew a small symbol towards the ground with a extended finger. The ground glowed just faintly as a small bird seemed to claw from its earthen resting place. The same similar purple aura from what the crow had filled the bird.

"Find her, and give her my message." He spoke under his breath to the creature before it flew off. It was to tell Emily to let herself get caught, they would regret returning to their horses. The bird alone was a give away as to who sent the message, not maybe people could bring thew dead back. well sure this woman could but she didnt show any signs of being about to control something that had been long dead, just the fresher corpses.

Emily crashed through the forest as fast as she could, a few times she nearly ran straight into a tree when she looked behind to see how close the other two were. When she realized that they were out of sight it made her worry even more, just because she could not see them did not mean that they were not there. They had been hired to capture her and she had listened very closely to their brief conversations, well at least the ones that she could understand. Giving up on capturing her was not a possibility, they were closer than she thought they were and she could not let her guard down.

As she ran she struck her foot against an root that had freed itself from the dirt. Emily let out a soft cry startled by this then stumbled forward, she reached out into the darkness finding a tree to balance herself against. When she finally stopped running she found it hard to catch her breath, how long had she been running for now? She had no clue but her legs ached now and she was exhausted.

A sudden noise caught her attention and she looked around frantically wondering what it could be. Then she saw a light in the distance, a dim one that was purple. Emily watched it for a moment trying to make out what was approaching her, then she reached out her hand for the bird to land. "Alton.." She breathed out the words then looked curiously at the bird now perched upon her hand. When the bird spoke she was in disbelief, what if this was a trick? What if the woman had done this and not Alton? She thought for a moment then told the bird to be off. She watched as it left her and felt completely confused and frightened but she had to put what little trust she had into this. She had to have some hope.

"You have done it now, haven't you?" Emily looked over her shoulder towards the direction that she believed she had heard someone speak. "You lost her, in this damn forest! You better count your blessings that I know how to track her at least. We may have some hope of finding the damn woman!" Then the woman began to speak in another language, the man laughed and spoke back. Emily stood still for a moment in silence then she turned herself towards them. Get yourself caught... She thought to herself then shook her head in disbelief.

Emily forced herself to get on her knees, then she laid down on the ground as if she had fallen. Inside her mine she wanted to refuse doing such a thing but she had no clue what else she could do. Instead she laid there like a present for the other two then she called out for help frantically. It wasn't long before the two found her, she cringed as she heard their footsteps quicken and then looked up at them frightened as they stood over her.

"Get up," the woman demanded then she leaned down taking Emily by her arm. "Poor little girl, did you hurt yourself? Let me have a look at you!" Emily let out a cry when the woman pushed her up against a tree. "Did that hurt? I'm sorry, perhaps next time I will be more gentle with you or perhaps there will not be a next time." She growled then she pulled Emily from the tree and pushed her towards the man. "Walk, keep quiet and don't make any sudden movement unless you wish to be struck or worse."

After waiting what felt like forever the bird seemed to return and that meant the message was delivered. Now if she trusted the word of a bird or not was another story, just this once she needed to listen to such a off the wall request. Sure it could have been a trap and in truth it sort of was, just not for Emily. Not like hell he was going to go about chasing them through the forest when they would have to return to their horses if they expected to cover any amount of ground.

Releasing the creature from the spell it buried itself once more before the remainder of the energy left it's body. now to wait once more. The yelling he had heard in the distance seemed to stop so maybe they had found Emily again. This would not happen a second time, he'd have to keep a eye open for puppets, something he thought he'd never have to deal with again. Twisted beings... he thought to himself to use the freshly made corpse of another. At the least if he summoned something from the grave he made sure it returned and that it's spirit moved on, as much respect as he could muster with such acts.

Though he was brought from his thoughts as he started to hear footsteps, they seemed to be heading this way and were getting closer by the minute. If all was well Emily was with them and it was the ones he had been looking for that took her in the first place. He was going to get his answers, but not before he reminded this little magic user that they had messed with the wrong person. He almost felt guilty that he was going to enjoy this, but at the same time it was probably the Queen's forces so he didn't feel any real pity for them.

A little longer and the two that had Emily were in view, from the looks of it she was a little scuffed up but that could have happened during her attempt to flee from the two. He wasn't going to give the two of them a chance to notice his presence and get the first move in, oh no not when he wanted answers and Emily was still too close to them for comfort. Extending a hand quickly a faint glow appeared in his palm as the larger of the two seemed to freeze in his tracks with a sudden cracking sound as his grip on Emily's shoulder that was preventing her from running before released in the same instant.

She was free to go about how she pleased now and the cracking noise was soon reviled as a bone snapping in the larger of the two captives arm. Though Alton was hardly taking his eyes off the smaller one, the woman he could easily tell she was the one behind the puppets. "I'd advise you to give me answers before you really tick me off... I don't even have to ask them you already know what answers I'm speaking of." He warned her still keeping his hand extended as the faint glow flickered a bit growing larger and pulling in strands of red from the air or so it seemed.

Sure she could try to fight him or refuse but something probably could easily tell her he wouldn't think twice on killing either of them seeing as they had just kidnapped Emily and had forced him to chase them all the way out here. Also if she refused to talk in life he could easily do a similar trick she had done and get the answers he sought in her death.

As she was forced to walk towards the horses they continued to toy with her further, the woman appeared to have quite a bit to say switching one from language to another and speaking fluently. Every so often she would strike Emily with her elbow then force her to stand again, throughout the entire time Emily remained silent as the woman had asked afraid that she may receive something far worse than this if she even cried out in pain.

When they finally left the forest Emily became relieved and remained on edge waiting for Alton to appear. When he did not at first she became discouraged and worried that she had been tricked into giving herself to these two. Then something caught her attention, a faint glow that was not too far from them and her heart began to race in her chest.

Emily heard the man's bone crack and the cry of pain that came from him as his bone shattered. The man released her immediately and Emily was free once again, it didn't take much motivation for her to run from the two. Soon she was beside Alton but she knew that she could not rest yet, Emily kept a safe distance between her and Alton afraid of what he may do.

"Oh no, I've made you angry? I'm sorry for that but I do not believe that I can really tell you anything." She said then threw her shoulders back in a shrug, the woman looked over at her companion who was cringing in pain. "I truly am sorry for this." She said to him, the man looked at her unsure of why she was apologizing. "For what?" He asked then his eyes lowered to her hand and they grew wide. "For what I am about to do, I only hope that you can forgive me one day, Valcon." The woman raised her hand to his neck and a long dagger slid across his neck quickly. He tried to scream but no noise came from his lips and with every breath that he struggled to take he choked on his own blood.

The man fell to his knees and she then took her dagger to her other hand drawing her own blood. Then she brought her cut hand to his neck allowing it to soak in his own blood. When the woman spoke it was a language that Emily could not understand but it had become familiar, a faint glow surrounded the woman and suddenly she no longer stood before them. The man fell to the ground, his hands clawing at his neck then his eyes rolled back into his head and he died. Emily stood by Alton horrified by what had happened, who was that woman and who had sent her?

Sure when she spoke and seemed to refuse to give him the answers he was looking for he knew he should have done something to prevent her from escaping in some form or another. Something also told him if she did manage to get away this was not the last time they would see her. They weren't dressed in the Queen's colors so that answered one question that he had wanted answered at the least. Also seeing as they seemed to be taking Emily somewhere he would guess that someone had hired the two, whoever that was seemed to want to keep Emily alive.

Either way before he could act the woman had already taken her partners life. Without any delay she was gone almost as quickly as she had taken the others life. "Tsk... well seeing as she has sealed your fate already." Alton spoke in regards to the man who was still choking on the few final breaths he had left. Alton never said another word as he muttered a small phrase as he moved his hand towards where the man was laying on the ground. Not long after that he seemed to burst into flame, it consumed the body that was there. There was a reason for this and Alton would be explaining it to Emily.

"That woman is trouble.." He muttered walking past where Emily was standing, she still seemed to be a little distant from all of this. "Having to deal with another dark user tsk, like we didn't have enough troubles as it was?" He shook his head a little before answering her question he saw coming. "Burning a corpse prevent it from being usable by a necromancer... though i do know most of my answers just by running into them and the fact that she fled."

He shrugged a little before explaining them. "They aren't with the Queen for starters and they were hired by someone." Aside from that he didn't honestly care about the details, Emily was away from them and whoever it was that had hired the woman was probably going to get the failed report from her. They were probably to be targeted again but the same trick wouldn't work a second time. "Now if your ready... getting you to that so called safe town thats further along the path might be a good idea."

( Ugh so bad. xD )

Emily's eyes grew wide as the man's body was set on fire, she watched for a moment unable to pry her eyes from such a thing then she brought her gaze to Alton. "How are we ever going to get there if we continue to run into troubles along the way?" She asked though she did not expect an answer for that question, it seemed that her own thoughts were being said aloud. "Who would hire such people? What do they want with me and why did that woman kill that man? They seemed close... I did not expect her to do such a thing." She said then her eyes closed, suddenly she realized how exhausted she really was. "Well... I can only guess why they were after me and why they were hired." She muttered quietly to herself then she opened her eyes and watched Alton for a moment.

Knowing that they were not with the Queen troubled her greatly, she wondered who had hired the two and what they wished to do with her once they had her in their possession. Emily thought for a moment and then spoke again. "I know that it was a man who hired them, the woman had mentioned a few things to me and I had overheard her conversations with the man. Other than that I haven't a clue who did this... I can only hope that we will not be bothered by this woman for some time."

"You're right, we should continue our journey." She said then breathed out a sigh. "We can leave now, I have nothing else to say or do."

---------------------

"How could you allow them to escape, Ja'ri?" The woman lowered her head towards the man who stood before her. "My apologies, my Lord, I did not expect her companion to act so quickly and Valcon had allowed her to escape." She adjusted herself to stand straight now. "He was not paying attention to my orders, the woman managed to escape from him and it delayed us. If it had not happened we would have been successful." She said then fell silent, when he did not speak she spoke again. "My Lord?"

"Speaking of Volcan, where has he gone? You arrived alone and I have not seen him since you have." Ja'ri froze for a moment and thought of a proper explanation. "In order to escape I had to make a sacrifice, I killed him, My Lord. I was not strong enough to bring us both back, if I had left him there they would have questioned him and I know how weak that man is." She paused for a moment then continued. "I suspect that he was growing weak, perhaps even wanted to free the woman." She lied then smiled.

"Very well, you are dismissed." He said then turned his back to her, Ja'ri stood confused by how easily she had been let go. "You will simply have to try again, she can't be allowed to be free for too long, she must be brought here and held captive. She is too fragile to be out in this world... She is our future, our everything, do you understand that?" He asked then looked over at her. "Do not disappoint me again, Ja'ri.. There is only so many times that you can fail me before I can no longer tolerate it." He looked at her awaiting a response. "Yes, My Lord, I understand. I will not disappoint you again, I will retrieve the woman and bring her back for you." She lowered herself again to bow then she turned on her heels and left the room.

"Good..." He said quietly to himself then he approached a desk that rested at the end of the room. He removed a key from his pocket and unlocked one of the drawers, after a few moments of searching through it he removed an object that appeared to be an orb. "Find her, show me where she is." He whispered, the orb seemed to chirp and began to glow. Then it fluttered out of his hand and flew out of the window.
