Old PC Game; Help [SOLVED] :D THANKS | #1
I don't know if anyone else played this; but I have been trying to look for just the NAME all over the internet and can't find it. I can find mentions of the game and what you were supposed to do but no one can seem to get a name or a link.
It was this game where you played as a gnome/dwarf or a group of gnomes. It was a strategy game. And you would have to dig tunells and try and use your resources for that and building houses and gathering food and keep going. I don't rem. why they were underground 'cause I never won the game. It was on the olden age PC, 2D just about as basic as graphics could get, but it was my favorite game and then we moved from europe. The only description I can find that matches is "I think I know what game you want, I am looking for the same one, but so far without results :(. I had this very old puzzle/strategy game about some dwarves that moved underground because of some disaster. And it was up to you to build their community under the ground by planting food, build houses, make storages and stuff like that, and to dig trough the underground to make more space and to get these puzzles. You needed to solve this puzzles to get a piece of an altar or something like that, and if you had completed the altar (after about a 100 puzzles) your dwarves where able to go back to the surface. Unfortunatly I lost that game, and I can’t recall the name of that game. And was the blue guy not the wizard who put them under the ground?" XXXXXX <- Linkedy link. I am DYING to find that game again. And no one seems to have the answer to it. I can't even figure out the right keywords to it.

I'm tempted to look for this thing just to see if I can find it. *cracks fingers and gets into research mode*
TV tropes has a list of video games in which Dwarves appear. You looked there?

Why is it this game sounds like something I looked into ages ago... hrm..
I'll see if I can help as well, theres not too many older games with dwarfs so maybe you'll be in luck in finding the title. The one I'm thinking of isn't a digging game though but it has dwarfs xD (also not on the pc).

Cometh; I've tried to look for it all across the internet. I keep looking for it every few months/years but no luck so far.
Rose; Haha, glad we're having similar memory blocks. And it was the most BASIC 2D game. My dad's friend when I was a kid had it on his computer and that was the only house they could take me to where I'd be quiet the entire time and let them have their adult friends and whatever the hell. Lol. It was the best game ever. And my dad's friend was so nice, he'd help me out when I got stuck. I just rem. the little shovels and pickaxes. Like you would have to select like... a shovel gnome to do something and a pickaxe gnome and you had fighter ones and you couldn't move too far ahead of the village or it would die out so you would have to strategically place villages along your route.

Sounds like Dungeon Keeper or something Dungeon Keeper might have been based off of.
Was it a European game? If it was, the name may have been change if it make it to North America. That happens. The ones I bumped into most often were Dwarf Fortress, Dwarves?! (that looked the closest) and little RP based things, "A Dwarf Story" and such. I'll ask some of my older relatives and see if they remember much. Was it a top down game? Side scrolling? Was it European to begin with? There was on Dwarf game where you solved matching puzzles, like Bewjewelled, but there was no digging. Just an underground city.

I really have no idea if it was originally European. I was like... 7-8 or something at the time I played it and I was still living in Germany and then we moved, his computer was the only one that had it so after that I didn't get a chance to play it again.
It was... -thinks- not side scrolling. And I glanced at Dungeon Keepers and I agree it seems the most similar but it doesn't quite click right. It's the one that reminds me the most of it tho'. I just don't think it was quite that intricate. And thanks, all help is needed. And I remember a parachute being involved somehow. Like, if the gnome dropped or something a little parachute would float above him or? I don't even know. It's been ages since I played it so things are a little jumbled.

If not for the fact that towns and such were involved I would have thought you were talking about the Lemmings. As it is I have no idea, I don't think I ran across this game at all :( I hope you're able to figure out what it is.

I was a big Lemmings addict back when it originally came out. I love puzzle type games and the Lemmings were adorable.

It was Lemmings? I love that game! I've been trying to find it but I need a dos player first. I liked Lemmings two more than the original myself. You could travel to differentn worlds like the Highlands or Sports World and such. We (siblings and I) finished I think 8 of the 10 pie pieces before we lost the game. (Literally. Either a new comp or the game just went missing).

I'm addicted right now. I just lost my paper for the level codes tho'.
And if you're looking for a good dosbox Linkedy Link is where I got mine. So far is working great. I've got Lemmings and then an alternate version extra that I found and then Where In The World is Carmen Sandiego on there.

I remember that game! Used to play it all the time. Then got mad because my sister "bumped" into the computer reset button when my friend and I were going after Carmen Sandiego for once. Blah.
Do you have the program actually called DosBox? I've been wondering how well that one works.
