So for those out there don't know what day is today it is Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed annually in the United States on the last Monday of May. Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars.
My grandfather was working during WWII and my father was station in an army base during the Vietnam War and I call them my hero's even if they didn't fight they helped out a lot with other stuff to make our lives even better but others as well.
What about you? Do you have a love ones in the military? Do you celebrate Memorial Day with your friends or family?

I have a lot of family, friends, and my most loved one in the military. I also grew up in a Military Town so today is a big day here, back before 9/11 we had a huge parade and several memorials on Bragg but now most of it is off base and smaller.
This year I just spent it with Alpha, our last day together before he goes off to Basic. Kind of fitting.

As for my Family- My Mother's grandfather was in WW2, stationed in the Pacific because he was a second generation German immigrant, and was pulled onto the boat that the Japanese signed their treaty because he was over 6 ft. Both of my grandfathers were in Vietnam, and my Uncle and Aunt were both in the Air Force. Along with several other members in my family. Both of my Brother in laws are Army, one is in the Special Forces the other is a Map maker. My sister use to be in the Army, and my Brother is in the Marines.

A lot of my classmates went into the Army, and I am proud of all of them. Many of them have already deployed at least once and I know they lost people, brothers and sister in Arms.
This town feels the loss, both on a personal level and over all. You may not know them but some one you know does.

I'm from a different country and I think that it's a good thing that U.S. citizens celebrate it. ^^~

My dad was in Vietnam, Had another relative in WW but he died when he was 23. His plane was shot down.

We might be italian but we still consider ourselves lucky to be in this country.

☁☂ I have had and have a ton of family in the military and my hubby's friend was in the
military as well. We don't do anything for the day.
Mostly for me because I do not support war in any form.
I feel bad for what happens to the troops but I do
not like what they stand for so I do nothing for the
day. I don't mean any offense to anyone either.

It's a busy day for me, this year as we do other years it is, half of my family visited graves the other does sometimes didn't today we had a cook out there
had to travel 2 hours to get to the graves and 2 hours or so back to get to the other family after eating

very busy, tired

I was working on that day, I was suppose to have a paid vacation from there but we were one of the only store that open on that day
