You could probably do that, if punctuation marks are legal names. I know you can combine last names if you want to. Semi's sister almost combined her last name with her husband's to be Broski. I'm really sad they didn't. XD

Yeah I wouldn't want to do a punctuation as a last name simply because I am imagining the myriad situations in which it simply would not work xD. But I've never liked the "she'll take his name" assumption and hyphenations only really work for one generation so some other uniting factor seems most ideal.

I think a last name fusion would be something for you to think about, then. I don't really like hyphenations at all. I didn't mind taking his last name but we talked about what we could combine ours into if we wanted. We didn't think of anything good though because my maiden name is boring.

Well I have seriously thought about this, mind you though I've never even had a boyfriend much less a potential husband, and I'm not really sure about marrying in the first place but being me, it's stuff that I've thought about at length because of how much the present options bug me.

Both my sister's took their husband's names. My sister in law just kept her own but her kid uses my brother's name. They figured she can pick when she's old enough. My stepsister said she was just tired in living in houses with five last names so she decided to keep things simple. Helped I guess that she was never terribly fond of her last name to begin with.
The ribbon progression goes slow. I think I'll be lucky if I can get one of each item by the end of the event.

I am one of four girls and actually my only male cousin who shares my last name is adopted. My eldest sister changed her name. She would have liked to keep it but her husband is southern and that was something she just didn't feel the need to make a fuss about. I don't mind that people change it is just the assumption that it is going to happen, the assumption that a boy will have the same last name when he's 5 and when he's 85 regardless of his marital status, that really bothers me... *shrugs* But I mean it's not like I begrudge people for following their own wishes.
How do you even earn gold versus silver ribbons, anyway? Or is it just random? The progression is slow but not super slow considering I could buy a few of the items and I'm not all that active anyway. Come Chat With Me?

It's random. There is always a rare currency and common one, the one being harder to obtain than the other. It is essentially random but there is an average worked in so that there is one gold ribbon per so many silvers, etc. It's never spot on though, but close enough. Not sure of the ratio this time around though, but gold will be harder to get than silver.
I'd like to keep my name when I get married, primarily because it's short (only four letters), I like it, and currently I'm the last one in the family that has it, minus whatever relatives there are in England that I don't know about. My dad and uncle had girls. I'd probably hyphenate for myself but wouldn't fuss about a kid. S/he could have my last name as a middle name if hypothetical daddy is okay with it.

I see well like I said, whatever works works.
And OK that makes sense, I thought it was like that. I have been to prior Trisphee events, but I suppose I never really gave it a whole lot of thought... I actually don't really remember much. D'oh. Come Chat With Me?

I'm someting of a family history buff. The name thing does get to, especially since in my family we've got an overabundance of women, so when I try and look back at things I'm chasing four or fives names around. Get's a little irritating at times. :p

Yeah, I mean, that does bother me immensely, all the female sides of the tree always disappear unless you know what you're looking for. There is a sense of lost/assimilated identity.

I was actually looking forward to changing my last name, but I know that's a personal thing.
My dad and grandpa have tracked our family history all the way back to I don't even know how far anymore. It's really impressive. :D I think I need infinity more ribbons. ;A; This signature intentionally left blank.
