I like the 1st and 2nd movie dumbledore. It was a shame that he died.

I agree with Funk. The one in the third movie seemed mean, but maybe that was just his outward appearance.

Richard Harris was by far the best Dumbledore. He will always be missed. His eyes were just perfect for Dumbledore, or rather, he knew how to express the proper emotions with his eyes...

Richard Harris was indeed great and would have carried through the rest of the movies quite well but I found Michael Gambon as a fitting replacement and well suited to the rest of the films. I liked his voice better.

Michael Gambon did do wonderfully when Dumbledore got darker, but I don't think he was that great for the 3rd one. (Then again, I hated the 3rd one most of all because of all the inaccuracies)...

I love the 3rd one. It was the first one I actually waited to see in the theater... The first I saw when it was on DVD; the second I went to the theater after it had been out for awhile. The third... I counted down the days and I saw it in IMAX. And I never find inaccuracies too troubling, even though I think Cuaron did make the series a little awkward in several jumps... I tend to go by feelings with movies, and I like the "feeling" of that film. I try not to over-analyze the things I enjoy (even though I do analyze... it's generally only to get better enjoyment out of them) Because if I do, then I'll lose something that I like. I'd rather have both the books and the movies, and have them not match up, than only have one or the other.

I guess it just massively bugged me how they did Lupin's Werewolf form. That and the whole Firebolt part got screwed up. Also a few issues with hoe they approached some of the Sirius parts. Gary Oldman did/looked pretty much perfect to me, but idk some of the scenes just didn't work for me. I also didn't like how much the students were in muggle dress...or how Hermione ended up 'punching' Draco instead of 'slapping' him...(JK herself referenced her 'punching' him in a later book when in the 3rd book she clearly said Hermione 'slapped' Draco)...
I fell in love with the books and have two tattoos that only reference the books. I guess I'm a stickler for certain things, but that movie ended up making me loose faith in the movies for a while... Yeah I mean, I can totally see why that would be annoying but for me, the experience of a book is always better cemented with a film, and for this particular set of films, I saw the movie before I read the books and it was my appreciation of the movie which led me to read the books in the first place. And I was thrown by some of the things that were changed in the 3rd movie as well. The muggle clothing thing bothered me (as well as the time discrepancy it sort of created- which is further confused in the 7th movie but it's not that important to me to ruin the movies) and the dementors execution, but the little story details don't really bother me. Especially something like slap vs punch... Slapping might read as strong, but in a film it doesn't always have the same desired effect. Some things work better in writing than on film.

I think it mostly just bugged me that the change in the movie followed to a later book. I guess that was the main reason it bugged me, if JK hadn't have slipped up later I think I'd be okay with it.
But yeah, I know a lot of people started with the movies, but I fell in love with the books because they became my only escape in middle school. So it almost feels like memories are being changed. That was the movie with a majority of issues in it. I'm also one of those people that believes certain small details are HIGHLY important. Like how in the last movie references Teddy simply by having this conversation... "Harry: And Remus, your son... Lupin: Others will tell him what his mother and father died for. One day, he'll understand." I've got a friend who hadn't read the last book (she started with the movies and liked to watch the movies before reading the books), and she was completely confused...It's like they entirely left Teddy out of the movie...He's really important because Harry is his GodFather, and it's basically the moment when Harry realizes he's an adult and will one day be a father figure for Teddy... Third book's my favorite, but like I mentioned earlier, movie-Sirius and yeah, movie-Lupin were...eh...inconsistent with the book.

I adored the third book. (I'm a BIG fan of back story) I really think that's why it bugs me so much.

I was in love with the series since the third grade. My teacher did that thing where, every Friday, she would read a couple chapters of a book. Potter was the only one I remember. I only finished watching the movies recently.

Yes Kali, small details ARE important, but there is room for change between books and movies because they are different media... That exchange is important, but it is different from the book. See what I mean?
When I was in fifth grade, my teacher read the books to the class but I missed most of it because I had other programs in which I was participating which conflicted, and also I hated Harry Potter because of the fact that everyone loved it, EVERYONE, and it made me tired of it. It took my older sister buying the DVD on a whim and bringing it home to get me into the series. Come Chat With Me?

When the first movie was coming out that's when i finally got myself into the first book, because I personally hated reading and the first 10 times i started it I found the first book to be very dull and not worth my time, but once we were going to see it I just pushed through the beginning and got through it and thought that it was very well done.
I sometimes wish that they had gotten actors who could've had a bit more experience before the first movie, but it was really fun to see how they each matured in acting and in growth.
