Ah I think that happened in Season 3 Tamers. I missed A LOT of that season but I remember that when they were in the digital world they ended up fusing with their digimon.

I think that was the only thing I didn't like about tamers ..

I didn't care much for Frontier

I didn't see all of the Second Season and I remember to make Sakuramon (i think) Rika and Renamon needed to combine

er... first season was the original team, then second season was TK and the girl as teens, third season....I THINK is the one with geomon and Ranamon... and those ones I didn't mind. It was the one's afterwards where they HAD NO DIGIMON and used armor egg things to become digimon that kinda ticked me off -_-

Well the story wasn't THAT bad, and it had a darker feel to it then the other digimon seasons... but it just didn't feel too much like digimon cause the kids couldn't be considered TAMERS anymore T_T
