Guild Wars 2 - | #1 | |
I was surprised to see no topic on this all ready, as Trisphee seems to be full of MMO fans and GW2 is probably one of the biggest hyped games of the last year or so. So.. here is a topic o3o
So I ask you: -have you even heard of the game? -What do you think of it? -What are your expectations? -How long have you been waiting for it? -Have you applied to be in the Beta? And feel free to bring up any related topics that aren't brought up in these questions, obviously. I need more GW buddies to nerd out with, and hopefully play the Beta with if I get in. I've kept on top of most of the news, so i should also be able to answer a good number of questions on it.

~ I have heard of the game
~ Im torn.. it looks a heck of a lot better then GW, but other then that it sounds like a standard mmo to me. ~ I don't expect to see me playing it, not when Tera is releasing and I've been waiting over 5 years for that game :P Also NCSoft games just don't ever seem to do it for me. ~ Not really been waiting for it, heard about it thats a bout it, shrugged and didn't really came >.< see too many sites being all fan bias about the game.. ~ yes i applied, but only for giggles. Not gotten into it yet but then again if it happened to be when Tera's beta was going on this game would be outta luck for me playing it :P ~sorry im not really a die fan of the GW series but.. i dunno it could be a good game i just don't expect too much from it~

Honestly i would say that Gw2 appears to be doing a whole lot more to break away from the standard MMO style than Tera is. Guild wars doesn't have all the usual generic quest stuff. You don't go to a person get a quest, kill a bunch of mobs standing around doing nothing, then go back to him. You simply run across event and quests actually happening. Instead of a quest text telling you something is happening, you see it.
I've been watching both Tera and GW2, and I'm not a die hard GW fan, but has certainly come out top for me. Massive server vs server battles, no grinding (no level curve), quests that PVP that is skill based rather than gear (you all get scaled up to the max level and have default PVP armour) the aesthetic art style. The only thing that I have seen in Tera that interests me and seems different is the fighting style, but at the same time GW2 also has a new take on MMO combat as well.
