Default Tired rant & rabbit with wry neck   #1
Going to see if I can get my rabbit to the vet tomorrow, from what it looks like he has wry neck
a bit tired, I was worried earlier that he was going to die and stayed with him all day, since I couldn't even think of homework because of it... tired... still can't....
and going to have to start on my class work... after this posting this...
then check on him again before I fall asleep
he stopped twitching once we got him inside the house
hopes we can get him to eat more, he seems to have a problem with it, so he is placed in a box full of picked grass which he can either roll around on or munch on, he has been able to pick up a little from there
doesn't seem to want to eat unless we set him up strait though... even with his head all wobbly so hopes he lives over night...
already sent a message to my boss that I might not be able to come in to work depending on what happens
she seemed alright with it though I already know it will be a hard day if I don't come in... but I've never called off a day before... so hope it's not a problem, bunny is more important to me at the moment, anyway Friday is normally easier at work...

if I can't get into the vet tomorrow and I have to wait till the other one is back from her vacation and bunny lives, does anyone know anything I can do that might help him feel better and/or help in any other way, been looking online but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask here as well

(had to call around to even find what places would even take care of rabbits... most gave me a phone number for a person who wasn't even in town at the moment and when I finally got a hold of someone there they gave me another location to try but by that time it was an hour after they closed, so hopes they will accept and help Shadow)

UPDATE:
got two kinds of medicine for him
one for a bacteria infection and the other for a parasite
it sounded like there isn't any way to test since rabbits are harder to work on than dogs or cats...
they said he was on a scale of 1 to 10 being an 8 so it will take a lot of work on my part to help him recover if he is strong enough to withstand it- which I agreed to do
found I can hold him on his other side while being on my lap so I figured out how to prop him up as well so he can have both eyes in the air, rather than one being under him
my mother was nice and bought a blender for Shadow's food with cooked carrots and it helped
Shadow ate up a spoon and a half within a minute or two

I'm feeling a little better since I've seen him eat, but will have to keep working with him, in hopes he will get better
and hopes what he has can't spread to anything else...

I do too, though he is pretty old...
he's always been my favorite, very sweet and patient and likes to be pet and talked to and would sometimes follow me around the yard
/hugs back/
hopes the vet can help him tomorrow

I found some of the old dry kitten formula that we used when we had baby bunnies and last year with some baby kittens
since he is having a hard time eating wondered if that might help him some, tried it just in case he would, and he was drinking it some from the eye dropper like thing
will have to do that again in a bit along with trying his normal food but it seems I can't get him to eat anything... only that dropper and water
wish dad was awake again he got Shadow to eat a carrot well we shaved layers off it and he ate the tiny thin carrots for a bit...

thanks, I need to take some time and breathe rawr
Shadow might be one or the last one of the litter, not sure since some were sold but of the ones I do know he is the only one left, his sister Angel left last year and back then he had tears that came down from his eyes, I've only seen him cry twice once that day his sister died and today I guess he must be in a lot of pain... after we brought him in he stopped crying as well and the spasms stopped... so I think bringing him inside was the best choice even if it doesn't help much
