Meshuggah must be added to this list.
Maybe it's a condition, ever think of that? No, no you didn't. You never thought, "oh maybe he's sensitive about his invisible eyes." Maybe it's a skin condition.

I saw that one on youtube. I believe it started with Eicca saying something to the effect of "and now we will punish you by playing classical music."

I haven't been to a live show, but my cousin and brother both agree they're very impressive to watch. :)

I hear the Tran-Siberian Orchestra has a less metal but similar effect on people. Have I recommended Two Steps From Hell to you yet?

I do not believe so. My metal knowledge is puny, but this thread has given me the impetus to dig out my iPod and listen to some music again while I went out today. System of a Down on the way out, and Hammerfall on the way back. It was a good day. :)

(up until the dumb bus that is, but I'll ignore that for now).

Hammerfall I like in particular because I'm a big fan of men's choir and I like the multiple voices.

SOAD I find took some getting used to. I generally don't like unpredictable music so I find I need to listen to a song of their's a few times over to get an ear for it before I start to enjoy it. I find my emotions go up and down sometimes because I'll like some parts of the song but not others. "Chop Suey" was that way for me. It's the first song of their's that I heard and is still one of my favourites of their's, if not my top pick.

Two Steps From Hell is an orchestra that does the music for a great number of video games and adds. They are rather phenomenal.

But I understand your sentiments towards SOAD. I think they intentionally make it ludicrous to follow.

Heh. It can be fine. "Radio/Video" is a blast at times. :)

I'll look into TSfH. I was commenting in the Skyrim thread that it would be nice to be able to get access to game music more readily. Anything in particular they have done?

I actually know most of those! In the sense of having at least heard of them. That's something of a feat actually since my knowledge of music is pretty basic. The only Chevelle song I actually heard is "The Red" and, amazingly, I had it on my iPod before my step sister did. 'Twas a sing that I was learning the ways of rock and metal!

I wonder a little about Atreyu, not because of the music(which I haven't heard of) but because of the name. He was the hero in A Neverending Story. Fantasy seems to have a solid place in metal lore.
