Northeast Texas. And if I play my cards right I'll be having a lady friend accompany me.

yeah, that's quite a bit a ways from me, i'm in southeastern PA.

oooh, yaay!

i probably won't see any scfi/fantasy movies with hubby - that's not his genre. however, my daughters will most likely join me... as they did when we all saw TFA the first time. =)

The Illusionist
The movie is still so too fresh in my brain to warrant seeing it again.

There is only 1 scene I really want to see again, but it would be more convenient to just buy the movie once it's out on DVD/Blue Ray to scan and analyze it.

This particular one happens to be decent at air hockey and approves of my VHS copy of Spice World, so you could be correct there.

And I have no seen this movie 4 times, 2 of those being consecutive days. I need a break.

SOME SPOILERS AHEAD

Well I have planned on going to the local poetry group meeting tonight but either I missed a memo or no one told the coffee shop we were coming, so Star Wars it was! There just so happened to be an early show, not advertised online (way to go, Landmark! Or maybe it's out fault.)

Having seen the movie twice now, I do find that I did like it better the second time, as I knew the story now and could focus instead on the details. I also went by myself (spontaneous movie and all) so I could just watch the film and nerd out a bunch over details like the zapper ball Luke was practicing lightsaber with being in a toolbox, or the Millennium Falcon's game table. (Has anyone checked to see if that was the same game Chewy and R2 were playing in the original film?)

My favourite scene is still when the resistance arrives on new bar planet, keeping low of course, because that's how you avoid evil scanners and the cascading water looks really cool. :).

Character wise I find I am most fascinated Kylo Ren. Rhey is whole mystery character here, but I find a character that is all mystery is really not that exciting, as it's the details plus mystery that allow more room for speculation. I want to know what's going on Kylo's head. When he and Han have their moment I wonder how much Ren's trying to trick him (Han), and how much is his genuine conflict.

I also like that the character attributes, so to speak, are disbursed among more characters. In the original, Luke was pretty much force guy, heroic guy, untested farm guy, and pilot guy. In this film, you have separate untested "farm" person, heroic person (though that could be the same person), and pilot person. Sorts of makes more of a teamwork dynamic and making it less "chosen one" focus, even though we all know the chosen one thing is probably there.

Okay done now! for now, though I do have to say I like the ending still, and more so now that I had a better look at Rhey's face. Where she starts out looking unsure, her expression shifts after a few moments to like, "yeah, I'm sure." Acting!
