Help me pick my next series to read! | #1
Book lovers unite! I am in desperate need of a new series to read!
I'm not that up to date with good book series, so help mee! My favorites thus far: Harry Potter Hunger Games Percy Jackson Sherlock Holmes Series of Unfortunate Events (forever ago, but I liked the story) In the future I think I'd like to read: Game of Thrones Lord of the Rings Chronicles of Narnia If anyone knows of any good series similar to these help me out? And let me know what you think of the ones listed I haven't read yet. I like fantasy and magic. I don't like vampire books. Never have, probably never will. Zombies aren't my thing either. I like action and adventure with a hint of romance. Nothing TOO gushy though. Series can be oldies or new releases. I'm open to a lot and I will preview anything (cause my tablet lets me preview books before I buy. o:) if it's available, so please let me know! And GO! Suggestions thus far: Books - The Lacuna (Barbera Kingsolver), Ironside (Holly Black), War of the Flowers (Tad Williams), The Lightbringer Series, The Good Thief, The Maze Runner (suggestion from another site, lol), Mortal Instruments Series (Cassandra Claire) Authors - Mercedes Lackey, Terry Prachett, Tad Williams, Holly Black, Lynn Flewelling,

There are a few good fantasy authors that I like, Mercedes Lackey is one you may want to try, as well as Terry Prachett. I have also gotten into Tad Williams. His writting as a good range from fantasy to science fiction though I am not sure if you are pure modern day fantasy or if it can be scifi.
I also love love love Holly Black.

Try some Brent Weeks books if you like dark fantasy. His first series is the Night angel Sreies, which I actually haven't finished yet but know the general summary of. The second one is probably a little less cliche: The Lightbringer series currently has two books, and I haven't finished reading the second book, so I don't know if there's a third.
I'm running to the library and grabbing that today, though. STONEWALL WAS A RIOT

I do agree with your own desire to read the A Song of Ice and Fire series (the one Game of Thrones is based off of). I'm currently reading it now and it is worth it.
Oh cool, you like fantasy and magic. If you're interested in something involving a fantasy realm of sorts and it does have magic in it. My fiancé and I both like the what is currently the Abhorsen Trilogy (which is part of the Old Kingdom series) by Garth Nix (in order: Sabriel, Lirael, and Abhorsen are the ones that we've read). He's in the works of another one that is currently I think in editing or something and will be out next year we hope. Basically it involves fantasy, some form of magic, and necromancers (who actually are good guys in this). So, I think you might like this or it'd be worth a shot. ^_^ Hope this helps.
