My scars tell me how
I grew up too damn fast

Yes my scars tell me stories
it's the way it's always been
Remind me of when I lost
and when I had to fight to win
They tell me what I've done,
they keep track of where I've been
My scars are truly my best friend

This one's the story of when you died on me.
Took the bottle to my head
and yeah I threw away the key
got into a rage and cracked my good knee
So here's a toast to the scar and the story

This one's the story of when my heart was broke
And yeah for the first time
I didn't know if I could cope
I tied the knots because I thought I saw no hope
So here's a toast to my scar and some bad rope

Yeah my scars tell me stories
some I don't wanna hear
all the way from my toes,
straight up to my ears
Remind me of things
I suffered through the years
There's some lessons ya gotta' learn
If you're gonna make it here

This one's the story of our first fight, hon
I curled up in a corner
you wouldn't let me run
You threw the lamp at me and told me you were done
Here's to your poor aim and an unloaded gun

This one's the story of the betrayed
Left alone in my room
Just why did I stay?
You tried to tell me to go away
But I love all of my scars so just fuck off today
