And I kind of want to start, what would you guys suggest for a new roll player? How do I get started?

First it is Role play
And second, assume a character (something close to how you would act is a lot easier to start with) and find an RP that interests you. I am doing an Avatar the last airbender, and I chose a fire bender because I am a huge hot head and enjoy sunning myself like a lazy kitty.
Try both a one on one role play and a group and see which you like better. Also, literacy is important. Try writing at least a paragraph to give some detail of what is going on both with you and around you for the other people to work with.

Its kinda simple really, I would suggest you start out joining a group rp that way you have more people to interact with. Most Group rps have a general enough plot that you can just make up a character. If you are new to rping I would try the cats in the curiosity shop one. Even though its already started the plot is simple enough that you can jump in, the only limitation is writing things from the perspective of a cat.

Outside of that a 1x1 tends to be more involved with some one else since it is just you two in an world.

As for literacy it truly varies, I have partners that tend to drop me one-liners and then some that drop paragraphs. You will have to find some one that writes your preferences ( what type of genres you like, characters, sexual preferences, and literacy )
