Default The Gypsy Voyage - Ath & Shen [Poss. M]   #1
This is a one on one RP between Athilea Majiri and Shenandoah. There may be possible M situations due to possible blood, violence, gore, language, and adult (not cyber) interactions.

0100010111010101001001010

Welcome to the Gypsy Voyage, a ship of a new age where the seas are no longer the trade waters of the world, but rather the entirety of the Sol System, home to the race called Homo Sapien. The Gypsy Voyage is a sleek ship built for one purpose and one purpose only. Piracy. Two things are key for a pirate ship: speed and simplicity. With a need for only one to really operate (though more is truly better so the pilot doesn't have to focus on armaments), it is one of the most advanced vessels there is despite its deplorable use.

The year is 962 N.E., the calendar years having restarted at the beginning of the New Era when the entirety of the Sol System became open to the general populous. The system is in an age of darkness: police are spread thin trying desperately to keep up with the violations in law, slavery has once more become known, and piracy becoming more common. Violence is all too common here in the Sol System and if there is life from beyond the small area that humans reign, they wisely keep away from these violent creatures.

((I guess I'll go ahead and post. XD))

Hermes floated absently in the Engine Hold. The nice thing about the Voyage was that one could switch the gravity off in any particular area, but for the sake of ease of movement, the main areas typically weren't switched off unless the power was needed elsewhere. He liked to turn it off when he had to get to hard to reach places within their engine room as he didn't want to be stuck someplace due to gravity holding him down. Right now, however, he was basically just fucking off time. They were between raids, Ri was somewhere else so far as he knew, and he was trying to persuade the tiny woman into going somewhere with a casino. Mars was nice this time of year. He ran his fingers through his hair, debating to himself on whether or not to go find Ri (her opinions on the nickname be damned) and start another round of persuasion with her. If he pushed too hard, she likely wouldn't. Women were funny like that. The impudent thief wasn't the captain of the ship (by popular vote, no less!), so therefore he wasn't allowed to make the decisions. Persuade? Yes. Cajole? Yes. Flash puppy dog eyes? Of course! Demand? No.

Faith puttered around the tiny galley, putting the finishing touches on a large meal that would last for a while and taste good. Casserole was never a favorite amongst men, but Faith knew the power of a simple all-in-one meal. It meant getting on with life just that much faster. Faith had learned how to cook from her... previous 'employer'. Or rather, when the old fart wasn't trying to use her as a sex slave, his other slave would teach her the fine art of cooking. It was the only way the dark-haired girl could relax and it brought back a few good memories. She also behaved as the medic on the ship. She wasn't a doctor by any stretch of the imagination, but anything that couldn't be classified as a life-threatening trauma or a major illness was well within her grasp. Thank goodness for easy to use medical equipment!

((Sorry I did not post last night. My husband and I went on a date and I did not have time to. The post I made on your profile was from my cell phone. Heh.))

Lastiriana sat behind the desk in her office, pouring over the digital star chart. It was never an easy decision to pick the next raiding spot. That was made all the harder by the poking and prodding of her Second to go to a Casino. Hermes was probably right, though, they probably needed the time off. It always did the crew good to get off the ship for a while anyway. She sat the pad with the chart down and raked her fingers through here hair with a deep sigh. Perhaps she should find him and discuss that, but if he called her Ri again she might just make him stay on the Gypsy and guard it.

-----
Will finished reassembling his rifle after cleaning it. He had already done the same with his pistol and now found himself at a temporary loss. Normally he would find someone to spar with, but that thought did not really thrill him. After a moment he strapped the pistol to his leg and left his quarters. He knew Faith was cooking today, but he could always help. He was a pretty good cook in his own right. It helped that he was starving as well, and the fact that the girl was more then a little attractive did not hurt anything from his point of view either. It was not long before he was walking into the galley, "Hello, Faith. You need any help with dinner today?"

((Perfectly all right. I didn't expect to be able to post this weekend myself, as I don't have a home internet connection. Thank my aunt for having me over!))

The thief had decided that his secluded spot wasn't much fun at the moment, so he went to the door and grasped one of the rails that ran in a somewhat grid pattern on the walls all over the room. It was the closest he could get to what direction the floor would be when he opened the door to leave the hold. Hermes had decided somewhat randomly just to leave the grav field off in the engine hold. It didn't do any harm and actually made the engine run better. Not to mention the energy saving it did. The door slid open and he propelled himself through it to be re-acquainted with gravity, deftly falling to land cat-like on his feet with practiced grace. His russet hair stopped haloing his face though it still stood up somewhat in various cowlicks here and there, giving him that tousled-just-out-of-bed appearance. Walking down the short hall, past the cargo holds that had everything secured within them from their latest batch of loot (they had yet to hide away or sell on the black market) to their food stores and water reserves. Like all space travelers these days, he was used to the taste of recycled water and didn't think too much about how urine was stripped of everything save the H2O compound and given back to them to drink and bathe with. Perhaps, if he had been one of the first-timer space travelers, it would be a horrible thing, but... insert shrug here. The thief gave no thought to the situation, however, and went up a level to the bridge and commonly habitable areas where everyone else was. He glanced in the galley and saw Faith and Will. He had to admit Faith was a hot piece of ass, but there was no way he'd aggravate her and come face to barrel with her favorite potentially-deadly compound of the moment.

Faith looked up at Will with mild astonishment and shied away slightly from him when he came close. It was a subconscious action on her part, reinforced by years of mistreatment after nice talk like Will was giving her at the moment. But then again, she didn't really handle men too well even though the two on board the Voyage wouldn't hurt her like that. Lastiriana would protect her if nothing else. She hid her unease at his proximity without the sharp captain about and spoke in a neutral voice that was perfected over the years of keeping her owner from knowing her real thoughts and feelings. "Not really. I just made casserole," she said to him, sticking the large dish into the oven. The glass-like substance was a special kind of plastic that mimicked glass though it wasn't nearly as breakable... and wasn't as easy to warp and destroy as plastic could be. It was the best compromise of keeping glass out of a ship's galley while getting all the benefits of the clear yet fragile substance.

((Well, I'm glad that you were able to long in. ^^))

With a deep sigh the captain pushed herself away from her desk. 'I may as well find Hermes and discuss taking a break,' she thought. She left her office and started wandering along the corridors of The Gypsy. To anyone that was not familiar with her ways, it would appear as though she were aimless. What she was actually doing was checking on random systems, and compartments, to ensure that everything was well as she made her way to the engine room. On her way she thought she might pass by the galley and see what would be made for dinner, and to check up on Faith as well.

---

Will stayed just a couple of feet into the kitchen. He did not want to bother her. Though he knew she'd had a rough past he did not know what it was. Everyone seemed to have something to hide and he would not prod her for information. "Ah, a casserole. Well, that is a simple enough dish. Not my favorite, but I wont complain." He shrugged and smiled at her, an easy and reassuring smile. "I suppose I should go on and find something else to do then. Listen, Faith, if you need help with anything just let me know, alright?" Will knew he could be, and was usually, intimidating. He tried to hide that around he crew mates, though he usually failed due to the general scowl that was on his face and seemed almost permanent. At least until he smiled.

((Long in? XD Seems I wasn't the only one with issues when it came to the keyboard. *laughs*))

Hermes caught sight of Ri as she passed through the halls. "Hey!" he called to her to grab her attention. "Ri!" His real reason for shortening her name wasn't because he wanted to be annoying (and he did like being annoying) but rather because he couldn't pronounce her name without a lot of conscious thought and a few hesitant pauses. Not that he'd let her know that. He'd rather have her think he was just being an ass. "Did you think about my suggestion?"

Faith gave him a long look with dark brown eyes that bordered black. "Okay," she said uncertainly in response to his statement though she knew she wouldn't be likely to call on him in the future. Too many hurts from men to keep her from trusting another one so easily, no matter how trustworthy they seemed. She turned to the casserole (incidentally a kind called 'Mexican Casserole', whatever that was) in the oven and pretended to be absorbed on checking up on it though she was hyper aware of the other individual in the room.

((I just want her to have issues with guys so it's more 'fun' for Will to bring her around.))

((Yeah. I should be able to post a bit more tomorrow since I will be off.))

She stopped and turned startling blue eyes towards Hermes. Those eyes narrowed at the nickname, but she crossed the corridor to him with a friendly enough smile. "I was actually just looking for you." Lastiriana sighed, "I really do wish you would not call me that though. However, to answer your other question. Yes I have." She shrugged, "I think you are right. We need a break. Do you have someplace in mind?"

---

Will nodded and left the room with a final goodbye. He caught sight of the Captain and the second nearby and thought of joining the conversation for a moment. Then he thought better of it and wandered off to the training room. A bit of practice never hurt anyone.

((I thought about taking today off myself, but I decided not to. Mostly because I have way too much to do at work. *grins*))

Hermes pretended to think about it for all of a minute. "How about we go to Mars? They've got a new casino there that's a racetrack, too. It's name is the Pegasus Downs. S'not a dive or super exclusive. It's kinda mid-range and should be fun without being over the top." He had thought about it quite a bit, really, and while he enjoyed fun, he didn't want to go to some high-dollar joint or some steal-all-ya-got cesspool.

Faith relaxed subtly when Will left. Now that her duties were done, and the oven would cut off once the food was deemed cooked thoroughly, she felt she could go look into the medical supplies. It was very important to make sure all the supplies were well looked after and kept up to date. Life as a pirate was a dangerous one and she wanted to make sure her rescuers were able to be taken care of if they got hurt during one of the raids. She stepped out of the galley and found that just down the passage were Lastiriana and Hermes. They appeared to be talking about a trip of some kind. Curious, she drew closer, fine with Hermes' presence so long as Lastiriana was nearby.

((Hehe, I can understand that. This is just my normal off day, though that will change on the 8th of August to Thursdays and Sundays.))

Lastiriana nodded, "I suppose we could make a detour there. I don't really remember the last time we've taken leave of the ship." Her eyes were drawn past Hermes first with Will, and then again with Faith. The woman was still so nervous, and she hoped it would pass with time. Of course who could blame her? After what Faith had been put through. She motioned her closer and smiled brightly, "Hello Faith. Hermes and I wee just talking about taking a bit of a break. I think the mans finally convinced me that we need some time off the ship." She looked at Hermes again, "So, Mars it is then. Since you seem to know more about the rest areas then I do."

-----
Will made his way to the training room. He intended to practice his aim. He was of the opinion that there was never enough time to train before you had to fight. Still, taking some time off would be nice as well. When he entered the room finally he took a deep breath. The scent in the room always made him think of a battlefield. That was mostly because of the equipment. Then he got to it. There was an area specifically for target practice with weapons that were specially designed to prevent any damage to the ships hull. He would be here a while, he thought.

((*somewhat randomly* The eighth of August was when I was employed five years ago.))

"Of course I do!" chirped the thief, taking a somewhat anime-esque pose with his shoulders thrown back, his chest thrust out, and his arms folded proudly over said chest.

Faith couldn't help but giggle, knowing Lastiriana would react to the silliness her second just demonstrated. How was, of course, a mystery, but still. "Where on Mars?" she asked in general.

"Pegasus Downs. We're going to th' casino!" he crowed delightedly before turning and haring off to god knows where in Faith's opinion. In reality, he was going forward to the helm to make sure all the auto-pilot stuff was still in line and to correct the course to go to Mars rather than heading to Venus like the original tentative plan had been. It was a minor correction (and major save on fuel) at the moment as they were actually closer to the red planet than the yellow one (which was, at the moment, about a third around Sol from Mars).

The captain put a hand over her mouth to cover the smile, unfortunately this did nothing for the giggle that managed to escape her before she caught it. The truth was that the man caught her off guard with antics like that often. Sometimes he even did so when she was in a good mood. That wasn't normally the case and she'd end up hurting his feelings by snapping at him.

When he walked away she turned to Faith, there was concern in her eyes now. She remembered Will coming from the galley only moments before the other woman had. "So, what was it Will needed? He didn't try anything did he?" Though she was not told everything, Lastiriana picked up easily on her crews reactions to one another. The way Faith acted around the men told her everything she needed to know.

----

Shot after shot hit it's target with practiced precision. Will did not really need to work as hard as he did. Of course, it was obvious that he would not be nearly as good as he was if not for the near constant training he put himself though. Then there was the fact that there was really very little to do on the ship between jobs for someone like him. So the man spent hours upon hours in the training room, usually only emerging for sleep, to tend to already immaculate weapons, cook, or eat. He really needed to find a new hobby.

((Edit: I meant to say that that is random, but it also made me giggle a little.))

((That was the whole point, making it funny. I'm not even sure where I got the inspiration to write it as I'm not that kind of person. I think it might be because I had a flash of Naruto striking a similar pose.))

Faith shifted her frame slightly and shook her head 'no'. "He just asked if I needed help. I made casserole." She paused before rushing on a bit. "I know men don't really like one-pan meals, but I thought it'd be the best and easiest for everyone as it keeps better and isn't too much of a bother to make. It tastes good, I know that. I had it before..." ...back on her previous moon, Titan. Titan was the only colonized moon of Saturn and considered something of a high-end neighborhood retreat for the wealthy. It is also known for the higher-end slave market, though most can't get enough money to bid in that particular market. She remembered well the older slaves saying to her 'Have faith, little one. Have faith. One day, you'll be free.' She hadn't believed it at first, but when she inadvertently became one of the stolen goods on the Voyage and was asked her name, she responded with that one word that kept her hopeful the entire time. 'Faith'.

Hermes debated on whether or not to go find something else to do. He considered it for a long moment, relaxing in Ri's seat rather than going to his typical helm as her chair was typically the navigation point. He had is own rights to it, of course, as he was second in command. After his consideration, he stood and left the bridge, going back and intentionally bypassing the corridor (no matter how short said corridor was) where Ri and Faith were. He didn't want to bother them and he was curious where Will went. Nine times out of ten, the other man could be found in one of the holds that had been converted into a shooting range. With that in mind, that is where he headed.

((I'm sorry if my following post isn't really up to par with my normal standards. I'm feeling a little under the weather at the moment.))

She nods and raked her fingers through her hair again. It was a common habit of hers. "You will tell me if he bothers you, won't you?" Her head was tilted with the inquiry, though it was one she knew the answer to. Then she brightened at the talk of the dinner. "I'm sure it will be a wonderful meal. You are a better cook then you generally give yourself credit to." She glanced down the corridor both ways almost conspiratorially, "The men complain about it, but you know they secretly love it anyway. They are just to proud to admit it after all the griping they do."

-----
Will continued to fire, though at this point he wasn't really even aiming. The man tried to put himself into a combat situation in his mind, imagining the distractions that would normally occur around him. He found himself, however, wondering what Hermes and the Captain had been talking about. Likely just the next place for a raid, which meant that he needed to keep his skills up.

He tried to push those thoughts away though. Thinking of Lastiriana or Faith always made him a bit uncomfortable. They were both very attractive women, and he doubted either would be the least bit interested in a man who's one and only hobby involved working with weapons.

((It's okay. So long as there's the ability to make a post off of it, a bridger is fine. I hope you get to feeling better, though.))

Faith nodded in a somewhat meek manner towards her captain. "I will." She was always having to be told to speak up, it seemed. She was so used to being quiet, though, and accepting of what was happening to her. When Lastiriana told her that her cooking was better than she gave herself credit for, Faith found herself blushing at the unexpected though not unwelcome praise. "Really?" she asked, like a puppy wanting affection as an affirmation.

Hermes entered the hold and saw Will screwing around with one of the guns. "Yo, man. What's up?" the russet haired man said to the other. He didn't exactly want to come running up and scaring the guy. Though merely practice weapons, the weapons used in the training room still hurt a bit when shot. And Hermes didn't want to have to deal with the unpleasant feeling.

((And you'll have to forgive my less than par post as well when it comes to Hermes. *grins*))
