This is a roleplay for just Hello Kitty and myself. Please don't post if you're one of us! Okay?

- - -

Hiruka hopped off a tree branch carefully, a hand on her hat to keep it from flying off of her head. Around her, the rustling grass from Pokemon at play caught her attention. At the moment, she had been on an errand to Mister Pokemon, and had just recently finished off there. So, she was debating on where to go next. Until, that was, she was alerted of another presence by what she considered an obnoxious voice.

"Hiri!" It called. She turned around with a groan to see the brown-haired boy it belonged to. "On an errand?"

"For your information, I just finished one. And stop calling me Hiri already!" Hiruka glared at him slightly, shaking it off soon after. "What about you? Charcoal master got you working to the bone again?"

"Of course. I'm training Farfetch'd to cut. The trees here seemed better off to work with." He smiled. "Heading home?"

"Yep! So I'll be seeing you, Li!" However, as she turned to walk away, he called out to her.

"Hiri! Violet City is the other way!" She groaned from the name but let it go since he was helping, causing her to start the other way. "I'll go with you." He started along with her against her consent. However, when she tripped and landing almost toppling over someone, he nearly hit his head. He watched as she caught herself accidentally using the person's shoulder.

"Sorry about that..." She frowned, feeling like it was bad of her- which, albeit it likely was.

"Hiri, you're such a klutz."

Two brothers sat in some lush grass a little bit passed Cherrygrove City. The two were a unique pair in that they were identical twins. Years had changed them, defined their faces in ways so they could be distinguished; but by first glance they were impossible to tell apart. Their Pokemon; a Chikorita and a Cyndaquil, played alongside the wild pokemon happily.

"This is so ridiculous." The one twin, Hyde, began, pulling out his map and inspecting it closely. "I didn't become a Pokemon trainer to sit around in the sun all day."

"We've been walking for hours, Hyde." Hoyt sighed, his eyes never leaving the Pokemon playing in front of him. "Our Pokemon are tired."

"They don't seem to be resting now, do they?"

Hyde couldn't wait to get away from his brother. He would break off eventually, but until his Cyndaquil got a little bit stronger, it was wise to keep him around. If he ran into a water Pokemon alone, he would be done for, but with Hoyt's Chikorita, things were different.

Hoyt on the other hand enjoyed having a travel companion, even if it was his pissy brother. One could even go so far as to say Hoyt was afraid of being alone. In all honesty, Hoyt was afraid of a lot of things that he would never admit.

A cool breeze swept along the field, and Hoyt turned his head to a pair of approaching voices. Hyde was busy with his map and said something about a Violet City, and completely missed Hoyt scooting out of the way of an unsteady girl. Hyde's eyes widened as a hand swiftly came down on his shoulder, and he looked at Hoyt a moment before looking up.

"Excuse me?" Hyde said, slightly annoyed. His eyes moved from the girl to her male companion, not amused in the slightest.

"I'm really sorry," Hiruka murmured politely, before letting her attention moved to the pokemon playing together nearby. A smile was clear on her face when she'd noticed them playing- they seemed happy to her, and that was a relief. "It's good they're having fun, but I hope they're not pushing themselves."

Li brushed off his friend's comment as if it were as normal as breathing, pulling on her arm to get her slightly away from the two brothers when he noticed the close proximity. "You really need to be more careful. You could've hurt someone."

"I really am sorry about that," Hiruka confessed again. "I don't mean to cause trouble."

"Nah, you just are." Li chuckled when he saw Hiruka pout at him. Ah, how he loved to tease her.

"Are those two your Pokemon?" Hiruka smiled curiously at the two boys again. "They're pain free. It's wonderful to see such a thing. They're being well taken care of I can tell." Pulling her backpack off of her shoulders, she let it drop to the ground to pull out a bag of food.

"They seem a tad hungry though. Probably from tiring themselves a bit. Sillies can't help but play when it's nice out though." Smiling, she whistled quietly to the two pokemon, putting the pokemon food into a bowl for them. "You two should make sure you eat enough." She smiled to the two trainers soon after. "You as well, be sure to take care of yourselves too. Don't want to make yourselves sick. The pokemon would worry too if that happened."

"Be more careful next time!" Hyde snapped, hunching over and pulling his knees up.

"I'm... sorry about him." Hoyt said, looking up at Hiruka. "He's not very personable..." Hoyt's eyes wandered to his brother, who had scooted into the shade of a nearby tree. Hoyt listened to the two friends interact, feeling awkward but interested.

"Hmm? Oh? Yes, those two there are ours...We just got them, so...It's a little too early to say we've been taking good care of them." Hoyt let out an awkward chuckle. "A few days maybe."

Hoyt watched as the Cyndaquil and Chikorita scampered forward at the mention of food, and the wild Pokemon they were playing with stayed back and watched nervously, afraid of the humans.

"Um. Yeah. We haven't come across very much food." Hoyt frowned, realizing he himself was also hungry. "You seem to know a lot about Pokemon, are you a trainer?"

"I grew up in a Pokemon gym," Hiruka confessed this easily. However, Li seemed to scoff at her words, knowing there was more behind her unique understanding of Pokemon than just being a gym leader's child. "I'm actually only here on an errand for my father in Azalea."

"Meaning you still only have Spinny with you, right?" Li heard a giggle when he said this. "Should've figured."

"hey, are you guys hungry too? As I said, you should eat enough too." The girl began to smile again. "Pokemon notice when their trainers are in trouble you know. Even if you're just hungry, if they notice it they'll start to worry. I know! You don't have much food since there aren't many berry trees here, right? I'll give you some from my pack for now." Hiruka smiled, pulling some more food out of her pack- a container full of Pokemon food as well as a container of regular pastries for the two boys.

"It's not much, but I hope it'll hold you over until you can get to the next Pokemon center. They'll help feed you too, for free. Pokemon centers really are wonderful that way."

"Yep. A free bed, food and Pokemon healthcare. Unless you're a tree freak like Hiri, you're in heaven when you find a center."

"Even I like a nice soft bed sometimes, Li." Hiruka scoffed. She smiled and watched the pokemon eating, however soon felt a slight tinge. She called to the wild pokemon. "Sorry for startling you, guys. But sentret, you come here for a minute."

She walked slowly towards the Pokemon in question, taking it into her arms when it accepted. "Hold still. It'll only hurt for a second, I promise." She lifted it's foot and pulled a small needle out of it, quickly. The pokemon yelped and relaxed quickly. "There you go. All better."

"They may be scared of you but they'll still let you give them aide. You must be relieved by that, huh?" Li smiled slightly. He then looked at the two boys. "My name's Li. I'm a trainer like you guys. The girl is Azalea Town's gym leader's kid, Hiruka. She's a little strange, but you can count on her to help you out if you ever run into her again. She's always up to helping trainers, even if she doesn't like to be thought of one herself. You can find her all over doing errands."

"It's not that I don't like to be thought of one, I'm just not one. I travel doing errands. It's not like I'm taking a gym challenge or anything. I just help out when I can. What I really want to be is a breeder anyway." Hiruka smiled. "What are your names, by the by? You may have just started as trainers, but your Pokemon trust you a lot already. I think that's fine proof that you're doing something right, don't you?"

Hoyt listened to Hiruka talk carefully, her and Li seemed Pokesmart, and he noticed it would be wise to listen to their advice. Hyde, on the other hand, stayed by the tree and ignored the two completely.

"That's really interesting," Hoyt said with a slight smile, standing up to stretch his legs and to be more polite. "Yeah. I'm pretty hungry. I don't care about that jerk over there, but..." He watched Hiruka pull the food from her pack and glanced nervously up at Li. Was it really okay to accept food from a stranger? Why not? These two hadn't done anything to indicate they were up to no good. Still, Hoyt felt impolite accepting the pastries. "N-no, I couldn't..." He said, taking the containers. "It's great, thank you so much." Hyde smiled. "Our Pokemon thank you too."

Hyde was about to ask how far exactly they were from the next Pokemon center when the girl moved towards the wild Sentret, who let her help it as if it were her own Pokemon. He looked at Li again with slight confusion, then back at Hiruka.

"Oh, yeah, nice to meet you, Li. I'm Hoyt, and that over there is Hyde. We're twins, if it's not obvious." Hoyt held his hand out for Li to shake, and offered a friendly smile. When Li mentioned that Hiruka was the daughter of a gym leader, Hyde finally decided to turn his head in interest.

"A breeder? Good luck with that." Hoyt said, wanting to have a pastry but thinking it would be impolite to eat it while they were still talking. "I'm really glad I chose Chikorita. She's really cute and shy... Cyndaquil's always picking on her, though." Hoyt said with a slight smile. "You really think we have potential to be good trainers?"

"I try not to judge people too quickly. That's more Hiri's thing," Li replied simply as he spoke to the twin with a nonchalant expression clear on his face. "I can't really tell except during a battle how someone does as a trainer. Hiri can tell without battling 'cause she's more in-tune to Pokemon naturally."

"For the last time, Li, I said not to call me that!" Hiruka retorted to Li as though he'd been talking to her in the first place. She opened her arms to let the Sentret go, watching it scurry back to its friends in the tall grass. A smile was on her face before she looked back at Hoyt.

"Hoyt and Hyde are nice names. And I think you two will be fine trainers as long as you do your best with your Pokemon. When Pokemon trust their trainers, it's a good sign of a good trainer. It shows that you are giving them care that they need- and when a Pokemon trusts you, it also makes it easier to work with them as a trainer as well. If a Pokemon doesn't trust you, it'll make it hard for you as a trainer since they won't listen to you most of the time."

"You have to prove yourself to your pokemon so you can work as a team. That's why Pokemon you trade with other people will tend to take longer to work with- they're not used to you at all at that point. That's what Hiruka's always telling me," Li added that part simply, shaking Hoyt's hand.

"It's because they have different natures that they act that way. I'm sure there are other Cyndaquil out there that are just as shy as your Chikorita," Hiruka noted. "But it isn't odd that Cyndaquil picks on her. Either way, they seem to be friendly with one another. So that means that even if Cyndaquil can be a little bit teasing towards her, she still knows he means well, right?" She looked at the two Pokemon in question with a smile. "Spinny would probably enjoy playing with them too. But that's 'cause he likes any Pokemon."

"Yeah, Spinny's pretty lax. That's how he puts up with Hiri."

"I'm right here you know," Hiruka muttered. Li chuckled and smiled a cocky grin. "You're always so sarcastic, Li..."

((I typed... a huge reply... and lost it. That was earlier today, I didn't feel like typing up a new one until now, so I'm sorry its late.))

"That's really interesting. I mean, I've heard about people having uncanny knacks for Pokemon, but I never thought I'd meet anyone like that." Hoyt said with curiosity, looking over at Hiruka. "Hyde and I didn't get out of New Bark much. No one who lives there ever does. It's such a hole-in-the-wall little town."

It was interesting to watch the two strangers interact, it was almost like watching two siblings. Not the way Hyde and Hoyt acted.

"I'm definitely going to try..." Hoyt responded. "To be a good trainer I mean." He said with a sigh. "I don't know the first thing about it, though, other than what I've seen on TV." At least he was on the right track, according to the pair. The information they were providing was invaluable. Hearing it on the television was one thing, but hearing it from actual people with Pokemon was another.

"I just kind of worry sometimes because Cyndaquil is a fire Pokemon, and Chikorita is a grass Pokemon...so he obviously has the advantage." Hoyt looked down at his Chikorita, and noticed that Cyndaquil had curled up near Hyde's feet. It was somewhat endearing until he noticed that his brother had hardly acknowledged the Pokemon's existence.

"Type advantage isn't the only important thing with Pokemon though, you know. My dad runs a bug type gym. However, they've been trained for a long time, so since he started, dad's gotten better and defending against attacks normally very strong against bug types." Hiruka smiled easily.

"And trainers don't just keep one Pokemon, often. As you meet more Pokemon, you can make more friends. Some will be at an advantage to other types." Li added, chuckling. "Even a magikarp will help you, though they're rated low since as magikarp they can only use one attack normally. Some can learn tackle, but most just splash around."

"Yeah but they evolve into Gyarados! Gyarados are neat because they're dragon and water type, so they have multiple advantages. And either way, magikarp are good friends too." Hiruka smiled before looking over at the small fire pokemon next to its trainer. "Cyndaquil seems to want your attention," She noted to the boy. "Giving Pokemon enough attention is important, especially when their young like these two."

((S'alright. Don't worry too much about timing. I can wait when I must :3))

"Hm." Hoyt listened with a frown. "So you think someday Chikorita will grow strong enough to beat some fire pokemon?" A look of determination flashed in his eyes; he wanted to be somebody as a Pokemon trainer, so this was valuable information.

"Should I start small?" Hoyt asked. "I mean, I have a few Pokeballs, but I've been saving them for stronger Pokemon... but maybe I should work on catching some now, just do give my team some diversity." Mostly Hoyt was just talking to himself, and he seemed to zone out a little, his stomach grumbling again.

Hyde was listening somewhat to the conversation, not because he thought they were being helpful, but because he was curious. When Hiruka spoke to him, he raised his head slightly. "Hm? Oh." He looked down at the sleepy Cyndaquil and scoffed. "Now he's tired, now that we're almost done resting. It's going in it's Pokeball, I'm not going to carry it." He was almost grumbling, treating the Pokemon almost as an inconvenience.

Hoyt let out a heavy sigh and looked from Li to Hiruka. "Sorry about him."

Around the same time, a flash came from her belt as one of her pokemon came out on its own- her only Pokemon at that, Spinarak. The spider looked around curiously, causing Hiruka to sigh. "Spinny, I told you to rest..." The spider only looked at her in response, tugging one of it's legs up to poke her shoes, before crawling atop her head, trying to sneak under her hat.

"Oh no you don't. I'm not letting you do that again." She reluctantly let her hat off for a minute, pulling the spider off with Li's help before forcing the hat on quickly, watching the nearby wild Pokemon seemingly try to come closer out of curiosity before stopping when the hat was replaced. "Thanks Li... Spinny, really, what's gotten into you?" She hugged it close, looking at Cyndaquil. "I'd carry your Cyndaquil for you if it was too much of a hassle, but looks like Spinny isn't fond of his Pokeball today. He's lax but also pretty sporadic with that. Be wary of the fact that some pokemon won't go into their Pokeballs no matter how much a trainer tries."

Giggling, she finally recognized that there had been a grumble nearby before, making her look at the direction it had come from. "You really should eat soon, um..." She tried to remember the two names she was told. "Just to make sure, you are Hoyt, right? I'm sorry. Bad with names."

"Don't worry about seeming rude. She'll get mad at you if you don't eat when you're hungry... She's just like that. She has no consideration for when people are uneasy."

"Eating is important!" Hiruka retorted. She looked over at Hyde. "You should eat enough too, Hyde. Hunger can make you grumpy too.'

"You two heading to Violet City?" Li butt in in order to save the two from more of Hiruka's yammering, as he often put it. "Be ready if you go to the gym there. While your brother has a type advantage, both of you have to make sure to train plenty for that gym. Faulkner's not a gym leader for nothing."

((So sorry, I've been really caught up today.))

The flash of the Pokeball made Hoyt step back slightly in awe. He'd never gotten Chikorita to go into her Pokeball, so he was new to the concept. When Hiruka began showing slight distress at the spider Pokemon lifting her hat, he tilted his head in curiosity. Was she having a bad hair day? Girls were such a mystery. He didn't even notice the wild Pokemon perk their little heads up and give the air a whiff.

"Hm?" Hyde looked up when he realized Hiruka was talking to him. "No it's not a big deal. He'll get in his Pokeball." He said it with a sternness in his voice, making Hoyt sigh. Hyde must not have been listening to anything Hiruka or Li said. Either that, or he didn't take it to heart. Knowing his brother, it was probably the latter. Nothing got through to him emotionally.

"Yeah, I'm Hoyt." The twin standing near the girl and her companion said. "He's Hyde. Again, sorry about him." The topic of food was brought up next, making Hoyt's stomach rumble. "You sure it's okay?" He asked, opening the container and taking out one of the pastries. "It looks delicious... Hyde, do you want one?"

"I'm not hungry." Was the grumpy twins response.

"...." Hoyt sighed as he took a bite of the food. "Violet City? Yes, that's the next town, right?" He made sure to finish chewing before talking. "You think here would be a good place to train?"

((Forgot to respond to your OOC xD It's fine. You don't have to worry about timing. As long as you don't suddenly vanish for a week and I have no idea what happened to you. Then I may start to get worried...))

Hiruka continued to fuss with her hat to make sure it stayed firmly on her head. "I think I need to ask dad for some sort of way to glue this thing on..." The girl sighed softly, finishing her fussing and looking to the boy curiously. "I'm a bit worried about your brother," She confessed softly, remembering the tone that Hyde had spoken with. "But since Cyndaquil seems happy with him anyway, I shouldn't pay too much heed I guess..."

"For once in her life, Hiri does something smart," Li grinned and spoke, getting a glare not from Hiruka that time but from Spinarak. His statement seemed ignored, though he was noticeably still keeping tabs on what was being said.

"You have to make sure you eat enough so of course it's fine. I just hope it tastes as good to you as you say it looks." Hiruka giggled, smiling easily. "Training here would be fine I'm sure. There aren't many bad places to train in actuality. Well, depending on your training style I suppose. Do you have an idea on how you want to go about training with your Pokemon?"

((IIIII feel like a bitch. So sorry. Where do the days go?
Hopefully I didn't miss your birthday!!! ; -; ))

Hoyt watched as the girl held the hat to her head, making sure it would stay. He wanted to ask about it, but judging by the look on her face and his previous experience with girls and their hair; he figured it wouldn't be a good idea. "...Hm, Hyde? It's best not to worry about him, it only pisses him off." Hoyt said with a small shrug. "It's strange the attraction that Cyndaquil has. Even though Hyde hardly gives it any attention, it still loves him."

When Li spoke, Hoyt shifted his gaze and blinked. These two were so unique, and their interactions almost calming. Like being back home with family.

Hoyt nodded as he finished the food, swallowing before speaking again. "Yes, it was delicious! Did you make them yourself?" Hoyt asked, and Hyde slinked up from his place near the tree to grab the second pastry from the container. "...Training style?"

"I have a training style. Be stronger than everyone else." Hyde said with a slight snicker, taking a bite of the pastry and shuffling off again.
