Calder sighed, exhaling a stream of bubbles in frustration. He was hiding in a small cavern in hopes that the guards would not find him. He had no intention of ever going back to that place; let the kingdom find a new ruler. They would be way better off without Calder. Breaking free from his little path of self pity, he let his eyes, as blue as the ocean itself, wander towards the surface of the water where the sun reflected off. He liked how it looked, the gentle ripple, the fish lazily drifting here and there, and the occasional legged-being splashing through. It was his secret spot in the ocean, close enough to the shore to see these fascinating creatures, yet far enough away that no one could ever see him. He could do this; he could leave everything behind him, but he was a little nervous. Calder had never run away before, and this first time was for good. He wasn't sure what would happen and the uncertainty was nerveracking. Calder sunk down lazily in the under-water cave, letting his stress leave his body with another long breath.

Cedric at tears streaming down his delicate face he was breathing hard running towards the ocean. He had to many things racing through his head to much anger to much pain. He had reached the edge his body shaking hands clinched he looked down into the sea. He wanted to end it he wanted it to all fade. So he would do the only thing he knew that could end it and that was jump, He felt the sting of cold water hit his skin from the hard raging waves as he thrust his body out at sea. He was now in a world of black after struggling for only a few minutes under the water.

The blue haired prince had begun to drift off into a dreamless sleep. It had begun quite warm and comfortable in that secret place, and he was able to successfully shut out the entire world around him. That is, until the blissful peace of the ocean was rudely interupted by a splash. Calder groaned and turned his head, slowly opening up his eyes. He could not believe what he saw! A legged-creater was so close to him in the water! He poked his head out the cave to get a closer look. The two-legged looked male, but he was not quite sure how their genders worked; it was a completely different species after all.
Calder cautiously swam out farther, closing in the space between them. It did not seem to be moving, but he was not sure if they were supposed to. Deciding to act on his instincts, the prince grabbed this new creature and dragged him to a rocky cave just on the shore. The water went into the cave, but there was enough room for a person to stay, so Calder managed, with all his strength, to place the two-legged on the land. He then proceeded to poke its side, noticing that it felt strangely like his own. He backed up and lowered himself back into the water, leaving his eyes just above the surface to watch.

Cedric's mouth made a gurgling noise then Cedric started coughing his body jolting as water spewed from the sides of his mouth his eyes opened wide gasping for air his body shook from the ice cold water, had he died? He coughed harder sitting up to the best of his abilities he held his stomach with one arm the other arm propping him up. His eyes widened he has survived he felt relief and anger all at once. He stood up shaking hard that's when he saw it the blue eyes staring at him. He tilted his head "...W-Why are you in the water?" his voice was soft but also sounded confused.

Calder watched as the two-legged coughed and sat up. Then his eyes widened when it addressed him; he could actually undertand him! How could this creature speak mertounge so fluently? It was extremely baffling. Perhaps the language of the two-legged was similar to mertounge? But, how could that be when the two worlds had always been seperate until now? A grin spread across his nearl perfectly sculptd lips as he slowly realized he could communicate with this amazing creature. he inched forward and raised his head out of the water, allowing him to speak.
"You...you can speak my language?" His voice suprised him; he'd never spoken above water before, and it had come out sounding like a low bell, although breathless.

Cedric's eyes widened a little who was this boy "I-I...Y-Your language? What do you mean?" how could the boy be in the water without freezing. Cedric's whole body was shaking from being so cold he walked forward a little to the strange boy his curiosity was peeked maybe he was dead. He moved down onto his knees now to see the boy better "Who are you?" his voice had seemed gentle such as his eyes he seemed to be lost in a trance. Why was it so? he pondered "Am I dead..?" His voice came out in a low whisper his eyes seemed to fill with sadness.

Calder tilted his head to the side in slight confusion. It was obvious that this two-legged had no idea of the merpeople. "Well, you are speaking in mertounge. Although it is a rather strange dialect that I have never heard. No, you are not dead and my name is Calder of the Merrick palace," he responded. He rally hated how his tone always sounded so formal, but that was what he got for being royalty he assumed. He looked up at the strange being in front of him and looked at its face. It was most definately male, he decided. "And now, may I ask you what your name is?"

Cedric blushed at the boys formal tone and tilted his head slightly "C-Cedric.." he bit his lower lip in thought before looking up "Palace?" he was now very confused was this boy crazy probably. Maybe this was just a fatal test to check his morals and he was dead. Maybe this was hell He certainly had no idea. He inched closer his lips where going blue and he was shaking hard now but he didn't notice all to much.He seemed in a deeper trance with the blue eyed blue haired boy. He was almost in the water now laying on his stomach.

Calder smiled. "Hmm, Cedric is a nice name. It is not too prestegious and it is not peasant-like. It is a fitting choice. And yes, the Palace of Merrick is my home, well it was, but that does not matter. I must cease using that name at once," he replied, shifting his gaze to the shivers of this creature. "Are you cold? I do not feel the temperature outside of this water." He paused, thinking more into it. "Speaking of which, why were you in that water? The two-legged do not usually inhabit these waters at this time of year." It was a rather strange time to go in the water. The sand was white with a cold parcipitation that made no sense to him, but he knew enough to notice the seasonal habits of the two-legged.

Cedric blinked "two-legged?" he felt shame in why he was in the water and looked down "I wanted to sleep.." he said he knew that would soon be the case either way his body temperature was getting colder and his lips where almost matching the color of the boys hair "w-why aren't you cold?" he asked tilting his head he laid his head down now staring at Calder with curiosity his face was blushing but it couldn't be seen.

Calder blinked a couple of times, trying to make sense of the statement. "Sleep? I am not sure the two-legged 'sleep' in the ocean. Do you not have a home to sleep in?" He knew that was a little personal to ask, but he could not help it. Merpeople were curious by instinct. He noticed the color of his lips and his eyes widened once more. He knew that could not be good, even with the merpeople it was not a good sign. "We should get you to a warm place...umm...Cedric. Although I am not sure where a warm place for a two-legged would be." Calder looked around him, wondering what could keep his new companion warm, but it was a fruitless effort. He would have to try elsewhere.

Cedric looked down again his eyes seemed to darken and pain seemed to enter them "...I tried to die.." He wasn't sure why he had told this odd boy or even if it matter his eyes started to close and he felt himself growing tired his body was shaking hard and he seemed to be zoning out. "W-Warm.." he muttered before his eyes had closed.

Calder was not sure what to do. He had never met anyone who had wanted to die before. The ways of the two-legged were strange, he thought to himself. He looked at the boy, seeming to zone in and out of conciousness, and decided to once again take action. "We must hurry to get you somewhere warm," he stated, grabbing Cedric and plulling back in the water. He knew he could swim extremely fast, but he was not sure if he would be able to with this extra weight on him. As it turned out, he was quite able to bring the two-legged to the shore on the beach. It was not that far from the cave actually. Calder sunk back into the water to let his fins remain hidden from the boy.

Cedric's eyes widened as the boy grabbed him was the boy insane he wanted to protest but his voice came out in nonsense mutters. he shivered against the boy something was off about Calder he wished to know what it was. He couldn't think straight as his body was now colder he shook harder.

Calder looked at the shivering boy with curious eyes. He hoped that Cedric was okay; it would be a shame to lose his first two-legged friend. "Are you alright over there?" He called to the boy, hoping to get a positive response in return. Calder really wished he could get up on that sand, but it was physically impossible for him.

Cedric let out a whimper "c-cold.." he murmured into the boy. If he could he would be blushing from the close contact "c-cant we just g-go onto land.." his body was shaking violently now as he closed his eyes. He wondered why the boy had him in the water in the first place but for some odd reason he trusted him. He couldn't explain it but he let it be what else could go on in his miserable life.
