Would this be a good sub forum. . . | #1
Hey everybody! So I'm trying to hold contests in my club house, but get very little response. I was wondering we had a User Run Contest forum, if anybody would use it? You could host art contests, writing contests, etc. there.
Mine for ref: is draw yourself as a blob. What do you think? ![]()

I would say it's a good idea as a subform. I know a site that has a WHOLE Forum space just for 'raffles' and contests. =)
Though, With the small amount of active people, I doubt it will see much love until we get more people on tris.

It would be a much better sub forum of it's own.

Well, yes. That's the question: would people use such a forum?

I'm not sure if I'd hold contests just because I don't have much to offer in terms in prizes. But I do like entering contests, and this would be a convenient place to look for them if other people held them.
I don't know if this is still a thing, but when I was here 3 years ago, some people held avatar contests in Fashion Trends. If that were revived, I would happily participate, and such contests could go in the new subforum.

Technically, the rules say that avatar contests go in Fashion Trends. It's the one place where we've got an explicit "contests go here" rule. And we're debating whether or not to merge Fashion Trends into Trisphee Talk as it is.
I think that for non-avatar contests, they probably go in Central Square or Trisphee Talk if you want more visibility than Quests & Charities or Club House. And given the current stated goal of the site (drive more traffic into populated parts of the forum to increase visibility) that's probably the best place for them anyway. The problem with putting the contests in those area's they get buried by other non-contest/giveaway/raffle threads and no one gets to see them, so the only way of getting it noticed is by telling others its there.
having a forum or sub-forum for it would be better so they don't get buried by threads. and this way all the contest-giveaway-raffles will be all in one spot and easier to search for ones that interest you.

To be honest combining less active sub forums to less active forums makes sense.
I absolutely hate anything added to Trisphee Talk forum simply because this forum is way to busy and fashion trends easily becomes overshadowed. I think the solution we need to look at is how to get these subforums/threads more exposure via how we view them site wise. Like have the forums update immediately when a new post is made to a thread, so even if you don't refresh the page the most recent thread with a post is updated. Granted in hindsight when we get really busy during events I can see the event forum flashing with different names every second. :/ Maybe allow us to favorite threads so when a new post is made we get a notification would be a good route to help people stay on top of threads. But the exposure part is difficult :/ I mean what does Trisphee want exposed the most right now in Trisphee talks forum? This thread that ignites discussion, or some random person in the posting laboratory sub forum? ![]()

Trisphee Talk is busy in a small number of threads -- there's only six threads that have gotten any posts in the last three weeks. There's plenty of room on the front page to get some more traffic there without losing visibility to anything else.
DK, I agree, which is why I said "if you want more visibility" than you can get in those busier sections. Games by Coda (updated 4/8/2025 - New game: Marianas Miner)

From my (very) small experience...often the thing is that people don't seem to be involved (or have time to be involved) with things - like a library, or gifs, or contests, so whatever theme a thread has gets lost in the conversation. Anime and Event threads seem the exception...and I don't know why any of this is.

I think it's good practice for encouraging people to hop in to create a new thread for contests, even if it's tied directly to a club thread of whatever else.
Whether it's in its own board or not. You are, of course, welcome to make lots of threads in the clubhouse. :P

it's just every contest i have held in my club house thread --- even with plenty of people chatting in it, there are tons of people who never look outside of the club house threads they frequent. This causes a situation where I see people wanting runes, but aside from going into other club houses and posting a link to my club house --- I am not sure how to grab their attention.
I've been resorting to going and leaving comments on people's profiles, which is probably annoying D: ![]()

Make a new thread for your club contest. :)
If we make a board for user contests, then we'll put 'em there. But you don't need a board to be able to make a thread.
