I remember when Kaguya applied to be a mod in a game we played, was mainly due to her I went for the newbie helper over the mod position but oh boy.. I was glad I said no to applying for the mod position through was an awesome server I had hoped to get offered the mod position but a friend got it. Went to check on them, and they said he wasn't even around half the time and preferred me mainly cause I chatted with the players during my initial newbie position and they wanted me to play on that server over my main server, which at the time, I was settled in and had made tons of friends, this was around when I met the group that I later would move to a new game with. But to get back on track, let's say, Kayuga was the only mod that really went through hell with our server, we had one asshole that would annoy all the mods and lucky me, cause he learned me and Kaguya were dating, I would also get the blunt of his shit. Finally one day, I told him to knock the shit off, if he had an issue with Kaguya, take it up with her, I was done trying to smooth things over for her.

She already had pissed off another huge player in our old guild who luckily was a real sweetheart cause went afk one day doing an event and guess some new members didn't realise folks don't open their teams for this event. So they spawned their monster on me and well.. I killed it and them.. so when I came back and realised what happened, I got in touch with her and said sorry, I was afk and could the member the drop belonged to, meet me in the city and I'll return it back to them. She said, it was fine and she knew me well enough to know what probably happened since I don't just go around killing other players and I returned the drop to the rightful player. But yea, she and the higher members of the guild just loved killing Kaguya when they got a chance. Finally the leader of the guild she was in, said he had enough and joined us, lol, just to get peace from being killed every night at the event.

Also, Gal, as said earlier, take your time. Your health needs to be your no 1 priority and when you feel that you can handle things here then come back.

And yes, the community is pretty much adults now. but again, other communities are also adults and let me say this, some of them still act like teenagers. There is one guy that whines in almost every event.. was told last night, he called folks greedy cause they didn't let him get his 2k in points.. *facepalm* calling the kettle black, this was the person that whined if Hyoga got a single point in most other events..

I Also called some of their staff members snakes for abandoning Menewsha. There is a mod that posted an announcement Basically the last announcement ever posted on Mene (big paraphrasing here) "Mene is in dire straights, but this site looks like it'll be good." When in the TOS it says NO ADVERTISING. Also several users have Voltra under there avatars.

That ish would have got them banned back in the day. You were only meant to chat about other sites in the designated thread for it.

They pretty much took it over from the inside to cut competition.

Gosh what else did they say I did that prolly got me banned. They said the felt threatened by my spell work and thought journal... like really? I didn't even mention any names or specifics. And I needed to vent.

Horrible attitudes on them.

That's cool they let you work on both. I've been offered multiple positions like that, but I prefer to give my all to one.

I was a mod/pixelist on both Kinsaki and Menewsha (under Nephila with out the 8s)

And I know this isn't a serious issue, but there are a lot of layering issues with their items. I think I mentioned it once before, but they haven't really done anything about it. :/ But it's whatever.

iirc they have an entire thread dedicated to these issues, but fixing these issues means you inevitably break some avatars that rely on these issues. you know that old xkcd comic that says that any change breaks someone's workflow?

The layering issues bother me a lot for some reason. Like if you're going to release an item, test it first. Set up a "mirror" and test it. It's not that hard, and having to do "so many" isn't really an excuse.

From what I gather.. Voltra is very.. PG - 13.. or in other words.. has a thing for child porn..

Most avatar sites don't mind you speaking about other sites but recruiting for them is a big no no. It's like trying to recruit folks to join Subeta on Neopets or Neopets on Subeta.. you could get banned/frozen.

And yes, I have seen some sites were the layering is very messed up. I can wear almost all my inventory in a few, lol.. which looks like a mess after I'm done cause most of my items are horror themed.

yeah. iirc both trisphee and pantheon online are the ones that use theoretically infinite layering systems. (infinite until your browser crashes, anyways.)

i was always kinda iffy with voltra tbh. but like, until they fix whatever the fuck management has going on with them and remove the offending items, i'm not paying a single penny for that crap.

vii has also fucked off, it seems, and they were the main dev of that site.

I noticed that about Vii right away. Any professional that disappears for three months isn't really one I'd want to hire. They are good at what they do but, I'd rather have someone dependable. Who isn't going to put a kill code in their code for when they leave.

In reference to Menewsha, I don't think any professional would do anything with the source code esp if they want a good reference for a future job. Seeing how old the site is, good chance the coding is probably outdated.
It's like anything that relies on coding, languages come and go.. I believe most of Menewsha's content ran via Flash hence why they are broken or stop working.

When I was learning coding, we were the last group to get taught Flash and we didn't have Python as a coding language. Our main languages were HTML/CSS, Java, C++ and C#.

As for a kill switch.. I don't believe there is a such thing esp for someone doing the coding on a professional level - ethic wise. Most likely, the coding has updated and how the stuff is coded is no longer how the program reads the code.

Use to happen in Unity all the time. We would have stuff coded and a new version gets released which fucks all the previous coding up and you have to sit there and literally go line by line and sort the code to get the program running again.

we were previously discussing voltra and their weirdness when it came to making body pillows of the characters that are canonically minors, the disappearance of the main coder of the site, and there may have been something else that i'm currently forgetting that might have something to do with people here's dislike of layer slots and being happy about trisphee's infinite (until you crash) layer system.

I don't think there is any way to code a kill switch into any code, it would be against any programmer's ethics to do that. Most likely the code is probably such a mess, no one else wants to touch it.

there was talks about refactoring a good majority of the site, but they haven't gotten around to doing that yet.
